RENZO'S POV

Merlin...
I shouldn't have drunk so much yesterday. It's not my first time, but I think I overdid it.
Squinting at the bright lights in my white bedroom, I reached for the bedside table and searched for my phone.
I groaned when I checked the screen.
"Training day... Ugh, they'll survive."
Then I froze.
There was something black on my bed.
What the hell?
I grabbed it, only for it to suddenly scream.
Sheesh.
Women.
Turns out it was a woman's hair.
"Ouch!"
I glanced at her through half-lidded eyes.
"Why did you pull my hair?!"
I looked at the woman tangled in my expensive white sheets.
She's not even pretty.
And she's extremely loud.
"Why are you staring at me like that? Say something!"
I frowned.
"Why are you still here?"
She blinked.
Confusion.
Surprise.
Embarrassment.
Hurt.
Too many emotions. What's wrong with her?
"I'm talking to you. Do you need extra money?"
I sat up, the blankets sliding off my torso and revealing the wolf tattoo covering my left arm.
I noticed her staring.
They always do.
I opened a drawer, grabbed several stacks of cash, and tossed them onto the bed.
"That should be enough, right?"
"I don't want your filthy money! Shouldn't you take responsibility for what you did to me?"
I froze.
Then blinked.
"Eh?"
"For... for last night. You can't just pay me off after what happened."
Wow.
I stared at her again.
How did she even get into my bed?
"Are you listening?!"
I had been so lost in thought that I hadn't heard a word she'd said.
"What?"
I didn't bother hiding my irritation.
I watched her hands tremble as she clutched the blanket to her chest.
"Last night. You can't just pretend nothing happened. What would people say?"
"Woman, I don't get what you want."
"You need to take responsibility for sleeping with me."
"Did I force you? Besides, you're not even a virgin. You probably just—"
PAH.
Silence.
My face snapped to the side.
A red handprint burned across my cheek.
She hit me.
This woman seriously hit me.
"How dare you?! Either you take responsibility, or I'll file a complaint! I'm not one of those cheap mentors who happily sell themselves to you!"
I barely heard the rest.
My ears were still ringing.
My brain was still trying to process the fact that she'd slapped me.
With trembling hands, she quickly gathered her clothes and fled the room.
I touched my burning cheek.
Steam escaped from my skin.
The air around me warped slightly from the sudden heat.
She hit me.
The thought replayed in my mind again and again.
Never in my life had I been struck outside of battle.
Yet this woman had managed to slap and threaten me in the span of a minute.
For a brief moment, the temperature in the room climbed.
Then I exhaled and forced the power back down.
"Consider your pathetic life lucky."
I muttered, passing a hand through my hair.
