Chapter 104 - Direction

Iwagakure Village

Inside the Tsuchikage's office, the still-young Third Tsuchikage, Ōnoki, slammed a report down hard onto his desk.

"Useless trash!!"

Anger was written plainly across Ōnoki's face.

Failing to successfully ambush a Konoha platoon and allowing them to escape was already a humiliation. Yet after days of pursuit—chasing them deep into the heart of the Land of Rain—they still failed to finish the job.

That alone was enough to ignite Ōnoki's fury.

He had personally dispatched ANBU to take over the operation, reinforcing the encirclement and assisting in wiping out the Konoha shinobi.

Once he learned Tsunade's identity, Ōnoki took the matter very seriously.

And yet—

The final outcome of the pursuit was still failure.

The intelligence report stated clearly:

The battlefield was in complete ruins, and every single Iwagakure shinobi sent to hunt Tsunade had been wiped out.

Judging from the devastation, it appeared that an elite Konoha unit had arrived in time—not only rescuing Tsunade, but annihilating the Iwa forces entirely.

"Hmph. Konoha's reaction speed really is impressive… but that bastard Ganryū really is trash."

Ōnoki paced back and forth inside the office, visibly irritated.

But after a few steps, he stopped. Picking up the report again, he reread it carefully—then frowned deeply.

"Wait… something's not right."

"Deep inside the Land of Rain… how could Konoha possibly deploy an elite unit there so quickly?!"

"And if there truly was an elite unit, what were our scouts doing? Not a single warning?"

"There's something wrong with this."

Ōnoki narrowed his eyes and issued an order.

"Give me a detailed breakdown of the battlefield."

Moments later, a shinobi entered and began reporting.

As Ōnoki listened, his frown deepened further.

"This kind of destruction… perhaps it wasn't an elite unit at all."

"It may have only been a few people… or possibly just one."

"The ground was shattered everywhere. Everything was pulverized into fragments. What kind of ninjutsu does this—Wind Release? Lightning Release?!"

"No… that doesn't fit either."

"This looks more like a secret technique, or even a kekkei genkai."

"Someone like that shouldn't be unknown… yet they suddenly appeared out of nowhere. So who exactly is this person?!"

Ōnoki exhaled slowly, his expression darkening.

"Konoha really does have quite a few hidden cards…"

After a long silence, he returned to his seat and issued several orders.

It was time to show Konoha some color.

Heart of the Land of Rain

Rain poured endlessly from the sky.

Even with the dense canopy overhead, water still dripped down through the gaps.

Yet beneath it all—

Inside a hollow tree trunk, the interior was completely dry.

Cracks near the entrance diverted the rainwater away, and behind them, raised earth formed a natural barrier that blocked any seepage.

If nothing else, water would never be an issue here.

Inside the hollow, Tsunade sat cross-legged with her eyes closed. Her wounds were only roughly bandaged—none had been healed yet.

Left like this, infection would be inevitable.

After a while, she opened her eyes and glanced at Yuya, who was seated nearby.

"My chakra has mostly recovered."

"Mm."

Yuya replied without lifting his head.

"I'm going to heal my injuries now."

"Mm."

Yuya responded again, still not looking up.

The black lines on Tsunade's forehead multiplied.

"Then get out already!!"

"Huh?!"

Yuya looked up abruptly, stunned.

In the next instant, he understood.

Tsunade had countless wounds, many stained with dried blood from days ago. Cleaning and healing them would obviously be… inconvenient with someone watching.

Shrugging, Yuya turned and stepped outside.

Tsunade watched his back with a helpless shake of her head, then raised her hand.

A soft emerald glow gathered in her palm as she pressed it gently against one of her wounds.

Outside the tree hollow, Yuya had no intention of peeking.

He hadn't forgotten the canon incident where Jiraiya nearly died after peeping on Tsunade.

To be honest—Yuya was only ten years old.

Totally innocent. Completely clueless. Obviously.

With a dismissive snort, Yuya concluded that Tsunade was simply treating him differently because his mental age was far above that of a normal child.

Rain continued to fall.

Yet not a single drop landed on Yuya.

Before the rain could reach him, it was gently repelled by his vibrational force.

Yuya often kept his body in a constant state of low-level vibration.

This state not only rendered most ordinary genjutsu ineffective, but also produced a strange effect—creating faint resonance with his surroundings, granting him subtle sensory feedback.

Of course, he was nowhere near the level of a sensory-type ninja, let alone the Byakugan of the Hyūga clan.

But Yuya felt this path was worth developing.

All things in the world vibrate.

Through his Vibration Release kekkei genkai, perhaps he could eventually perceive those vibrations directly.

If so—

He might no longer need vision at all.

And if he didn't rely on sight, even specialized genjutsu like Tsukuyomi would have counterplay.

Of course, this was only a preliminary concept.

At his current level—even his third stage of Vibration Release—he couldn't sense more than a few feet around himself.

Beyond perception, Yuya was also deeply interested in movement techniques.

His current speed was already comparable to that of an average Kage-level shinobi.

But compared to the Fourth Raikage, the gap was still enormous.

Even opening the Fourth Gate of the Eight Gates probably wouldn't be enough.

Yuya estimated that only after opening the Fourth Gate and mastering the second stage of the Lightning Body Tempering Technique would he barely be able to chase the Fourth Raikage.

And even then—

That speed was still ordinary.

Against Minato Namikaze's Flying Thunder God, a spatial movement technique, raw speed was meaningless.

What Yuya wanted—

Was short-distance speed that could nearly rival spatial teleportation.

A speed so fast it bordered on blinking.

Only that kind of speed could counter Flying Thunder God.

At short range, it would come down to reaction time.

And Yuya didn't need superior reactions.

If his body speed reached that level, the vibrational shockwaves he unleashed would make Flying Thunder God nearly impossible to evade.

Even grazing the edge of that vibration would result in severe injury—given the physical limits of shinobi in this world.

Achieving short-distance speed rivaling Flying Thunder God was an incredibly ambitious goal.

But Yuya already had an idea—

A high-speed taijutsu technique he knew very well.

Soru.
