Chapter 164 - Chapter 164 【Nursing Home】 and 【Hospital】

"Do you still remember the weapons you left for us?"

"After you left, we were living quite well with those weapons."

"Until the Walkers in the city started moving out, and then those people from the Hospital suddenly appeared!"

Aji clenched his fists, suppressing his anger.

"They attacked you?"

Merle looked at Aji, who was lost in thought, and suddenly asked.

Looking past Aji's shoulder, he glanced at the bank behind Aji. It didn't seem like there were any other people there, and Merle vaguely had a guess.

However, to his surprise, Aji shook his head.

"No, they didn't attack us, but what they did was much worse than that."

Aji turned and led the group a few hundred meters, stopping in front of a pharmacy.

The pharmacy's door had been forced open, and all the medications inside had been looted, not even a 'single item' was left.

"As you can see, all the medicine was taken, not a single bit was left."

"They continuously Search the remaining pharmacies for medicine, and then follow the Hospital's medical records and files to take medicine from residential buildings. Almost all the medicine in the vicinity was taken by them."

Hearing this, Shawn finally understood.

Originally, the Nursing Home already housed a large number of sick elderly people. They were either on their last legs, frail with age, or barely clinging to life, critically ill.

Forget about migrating; they needed care for eating, drinking, and using the restroom.

With enough medicine, they could have lasted for a while longer.

But when the Nursing Home ran short on medicine, and no more could be found outside, they would simply die one after another.

Meeting Shawn's understanding gaze, Aji nodded.

"It was one night, Holt's IV drip was empty, and he struggled but couldn't even make a tiny sound to call for help."

"He collapsed, but not long after, he got back up again."

"The sleeping elders there became his feast after he turned into a Walker."

"Holt could finally breathe, but in just one night, in just one night, almost all the elders died!"

Aji's eyes turned red. Perhaps it was his pure heart that made him reluctant to recall the tragic scene.

Nursing Home

He clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, his reddish eyes seemingly filled with tears, and stubbornly looked up at Shawn.

"I still don't understand!"

"Holt wasn't bitten, so why did he turn into a Walker?!"

Hearing Aji's almost obsessive question, Shawn silently sighed.

— The virus had already been latent in living humans, meaning, humans would turn into Walkers after death.

This was no secret to the Prison, nor was it a secret to predators like the Governor, who often killed survivors.

But it couldn't be assumed that everyone knew this information.

At least the Aji in front of him didn't know, and this was even becoming an unshakeable inner demon for him.

"This is truly awful," Columbus said in a low voice.

"But isn't this also a good thing?"

"Maybe they're lying on a beach in heaven, drinking Pink Ladies. There are no Walkers there, no high medical bills, and no need to worry about being poked in the butt with a clear tube every now and then…"

As Tallahassee spoke, his voice grew softer and softer, because everyone present was silently looking at him.

"Alright, what I actually mean is—tears can't fill bullets, but the enemy's blood can." He quickly changed his tone.

But this time, Aji nodded in agreement.

"After discovering what those police officers from the Hospital were doing, we tried to exchange drugs with them."

"First weapons, then food, and finally even working for them."

"But they were too stingy. They wanted to control everything but weren't willing to provide daily treatment for the few remaining elders."

"By the time we found out they had secretly stopped the medication, it was too late, and Jenny and the others had already left."

"So I want them to pay the price!"

Aji punched the wall.

Hearing Aji's words, Shawn understood.

The Hospital had no moral constraints and operated on its own set of treatment priorities.

That is, police officers > doctors > laborers > outside patients. In other words, under the same injury conditions, they would prioritize treating police officers and doctors, and only then the people from the Nursing Home.

And for patients with no utilitarian value, they would not waste medicine.

"But when we tried to enter the Hospital with weapons, under the guise of trading supplies, they were no longer satisfied."

"They needed more. Dawn said we could join the Hospital, but we needed more supplies as a pledge of loyalty."

"That's why what happened today happened, that's why I drove that car away."

At this point, Aji turned and looked at Shawn.

"I just didn't expect it to be your car, and I didn't expect us to meet again under such circumstances."

"Sorry."

Aji was originally more adept at presenting a tough exterior to protect his people.

But it seemed that after this experience, as the elders of the Nursing Home died one by one, Aji became much softer, or perhaps, this was the real Aji.

Seeing an acquaintance again, he no longer hid behind that cold, tough facade.

Aji led the group forward, and in the small parking lot behind the bank, they saw the red overlord they had driven away.

"You can take it," Aji said, standing beside the car.

"You don't need to get revenge anymore?" Daryl looked at him.

"We just don't need the fire truck anymore. We used it as an excuse to get in, wanting to capture Dawn and break down the Hospital from within."

"But as you may have seen, we failed. Just the few of us couldn't do anything."

"After injuring one police officer, we were met with their full counterattack and had to flee."

"As long as there's still a chance, we'll go again, but not with the fire truck."

Aji was somewhat unwilling, knowing that the people at the Hospital were still alive and well, but he couldn't do anything.

This feeling constantly tore at him, making him toss and turn, but even knowing that revenge was hopeless, he never thought of leaving Atlanta to start a new life.

"You mean, you still want to fight the Hospital and kill Dawn yourself?"

Shawn grasped the key phrase and confirmed.

"Yes!"

Aji didn't hesitate for a second.

Seeing that the few people following Aji shared the same idea, Shawn pondered.

Honestly, not having thoughts about the Hospital was impossible.

Medical care was crucial in the apocalypse, not to mention that the Hospital had professional nurses and doctors skilled in surgery. If they could be brought back to the Prison, they would be of great use!

Conversely, if they were left in Dawn's hands, it would be a pity.

Dawn, at her core, was simply an annoying middle manager, always doing repulsive things and engaging in so-called unspoken rules.

Now, before the people in the Hospital were enslaved by Dawn's 'order,' was the perfect time to act.

Thinking of this, Shawn looked at Aji again.

"Join us, and I'll help you!"
