Chapter 8 - CHAPTER EIGHT: Fantasy Collapse

The Sniper smirks.

My eyes widen.

"What…What did… WHAT DID YOU DO!?" I shouted at the sniper.

"Whatever I want, human." he shrugged.

Human?!

What kinda sniper just calls someone 'human' after killing an innocent teen age girl!?

"WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!? JUST WHY! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS!?"

I shouted with rage.

He begins to laugh at my frustration.

"Hahahaha! HAHAHAHA!" He continued to laugh as his skin slowly started turning purple.

He finally stops.

Silence…

He smiles widely, revealing his black sharp teeth. He snaps the sniper rifle in half tosses it away.

I couldn't move.

Not when his energy made my skin crawl.

His energy felt so horrible…

Just feeling it felt as if i had hands all over my body while i was unable to move.

He takes a few steps forward, making me flinch. The way i felt like an ant compared to him made things worse.

He stared me down for a moment. Then vanished.

Even with him gone,

It felt like i couldn't move my body. As if i was just a viewer, not a controller anymore.

I continued to stare down at Ashley's body.

"Who…" I muttered.

My eyes followed the trajectory of the bullet and landed on Kurt, perched on a rooftop across the street.

Kurt…

Kurt did this.

A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Before I could focus on him, Ashley's mother—wait. Didn't Ashley imply her dad wasn't in the picture?

"What the!? AHHHHHHH!!!!" her mother screamed in terror, rushing toward Ashley's corpse with tears streaming down her face.

"NO!!! NO!! ASHLEY!! NOO!! PLEASE GOD!!" she cried, pressing her face against Ashley's shoulder.

Ashley's father stared at me, pale as death. He swallowed nervously.

"Hey… man… you didn't…" he asked, his hand extended slightly.

I shook my head.

"Sorry for your loss…" I muttered softly, glancing down.

My fist clenched tightly.

I turned back to Kurt and blasted toward him. My feet slammed onto the roof, and my hands quickly reached for his throat.

I stared him dead in the eyes.

"Wait, wait…! P—please…!!" he sputtered, digging his fingers into my skin in a desperate attempt to escape. "I DIDN'T—AGGH… I…!!"

I continued staring him down.

"Didn't kill her? Is that what you're going to say? You lying piece of trash," I said, my voice sharp with aggression.

"Stop pretending to be some hero, Kurt… YOU'LL NEVER BE ONE!! YOU KILLED HER!! YOU KILLED THE HUMAN I LOVED DEARLY, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!!" I snapped, pure hate radiating from me.

I punched him square in the center of his face. Blood ran down his nose.

I tossed him to the floor, then kicked him across the chin, sending him a few inches away.

He groaned and spat out a few teeth.

"Weakling," I called him.

Each step I took fueled my growing hate. I stomped on his foot, crushing it.

"AHHH—FUCK… AGH…" he yelped, crawling frantically.

I kneeled down, grabbed his other foot, and held him above the ground.

"You're just another evil human I have to put down," I said coldly. "Unless…"

I paused.

"I don't kill you."

Partial relief washed over Kurt's face.

"I keep you alive… but in pain. The worst pain any human can imagine."

His eyes widened, a mix of fear and disbelief. I leaned closer, my grip tightening, making him feel every second of it.

"You're going to live… every heartbeat, every breath, every second… you'll remember her death, and you'll know it's because of you. Do you understand?" I hissed.

He nodded violently, gagging on his own fear, unable to speak.

I released one foot just slightly and tapped it against the rooftop, making him scream in agony again.

"Good. Remember this moment forever," I said, letting the words sink in, my rage and grief pouring into every syllable.

I straightened, my hands still tense, my eyes scanning the street below. The city was quiet, too quiet, like it knew something terrible had just happened.

My ears still rang with Ashley's mother's screams, but I blocked them out. Kurt's groans and gasps replaced them.

I turned my gaze back to her lifeless body, and something cold settled over me. The fantasy of being a hero was gone, shattered alongside her. There was no saving anyone anymore—not today, not ever if this is what it meant.

Only one thing mattered now: punishment. Kurt would feel it, and he would know the full weight of what he did.

I watch Kurt's eyes glance toward the bottom left behind me.

"No… DON'T!" he shouts at someone behind me.

I snap my head back to see who he's yelling at.

Two soldiers electrocute Violetpool before she can attack.

I watch them pull out hatchets, preparing to chop her head off.

Nullpools who aren't like me can be executed this way. Since electricity is our weakness, it makes us powerless and vulnerable. Once that happens, it's easy to kill us.

The only ones capable of countering it are those with the regeneration genes.

Me and Purplepool.

I toss Kurt to the side, then shoot a cosmic string toward the two soldiers. A bubble traps their heads inside.

Then—

SKRCH!!!

Blood. Brain matter. Eyes. Pieces of skull.

Everything splatters against the inside of the cosmic bubble. When it closes, their headless bodies collapse to the floor and a pool of blood begins to spread beneath them.

Violetpool slowly sits up, then teleports next to me on the roof.

"Thanks for that…" she grunts in pain.

"No problem." I nod.

My eyes return to Kurt's face.

"Hey, V. Do you think I should keep him? Like, keep him and torture him, you know?" I asked, keeping my eyes on Kurt's helpless face.

"Who cares? We've been killing humans as sport thanks to Purplepool." She chuckled. "Come to think of it, do you think Purplepool sends us to planets to get caught on purpose? Like he uses the policy as an excuse for us to commit mass genocide and wipe out every life form there?" Her head tilted.

Is she just realizing this now?

I hate to say it, even in my head, but she might be kind of slow—

My thoughts were interrupted when a chopper appeared above us, its side door sliding open. Inside, someone was already manning a minigun.

"DON'T WORRY, KURT! WE'RE HERE TO SAVE YOUUU!!" the gunner shouted reassuringly.

Before we knew it, the minigun roared to life.

The lightning-fast bullets tore into me, spraying across my body and knocking me off balance. The force pushed me right off the roof.

Violetpool teleported straight into the chopper.

She crushed the pilot's head in one swift motion, then ducked under an officer's punch and impaled him with her claws.

Using his body like a weapon, she swung it forward and slammed it into the gunner's skull.

BOOOOOMMMM!!!!!

The chopper spiraled down and crashed into the street below.

Violetpool stepped out of the flames, her suit torn and burned.

Reinforcements had already blocked the roads. Soldiers rushed in from every direction, armed with electric batons and machine guns.

I crashed through an apartment building on the corner of Violetpool's vision, smashing through the wall before sliding across the street and stopping beside her.

"Woah…" I muttered, staring at the army that had pulled up just to stop two aliens.

"Blackpool, I haven't had a good fight in a while. So please… don't use your powerful abilities right away. Please?" Violetpool asked, surprisingly gentle.

I shrugged.

"Sure. I'll do that for you."

I clenched my fists as I stared down the soldiers.

I lunge toward one of the soldiers and rip his head clean off. I duck the electric baton that swings toward me, then blast the soldier holding it with a cosmic beam straight through his chest.

I barrel roll across the pavement and hop back onto my feet.

When I turn around, a line of rifles is already aimed at me.

They open fire.

Bullets spray across my body, tearing into my skin—but I regenerate instantly.

I keep walking forward through the storm of bullets.

Once I'm close enough, I slash through the gunners with my claws, left and right.

Blood coats my fingers. My shirt becomes soaked with it.

Violetpool weaves between the electric batons swinging toward her face. She elbows one soldier in the jaw, then grabs him and pulls his body in front of her just as another baton swings for the back of her skull.

The electricity hits him instead.

He dies instantly.

She teleports from soldier to soldier, slashing their necks every second.

Then she dashes toward a machine gunner, leaps onto him, and sinks her sharp black teeth directly into his face.

More choppers begin arriving overhead.

"Fuck it. YO, V! SORRY, BUT LIKE—" I shout.

I raise my hand and unleash a blast of cosmic energy.

The choppers explode out of the sky.

Some crash into the streets. Others slam into rooftops.

I super-jump across the military vehicles blocking the road—

But before I can land properly, I get jumped.

Electric batons slam into different parts of my body.

"AGGH!!!" I yell as the shocks force me down to the pavement.

The soldiers keep beating me.

Through the pain, I slowly rise.

I grab one soldier by the face and crush it in my hand.

Then I elbow another soldier in the nose, snapping it instantly.

Blood pours from his broken face.

I slam both fists against the sides of his skull.

CRACK—SPLAT!

Blood sprays across my face.

I lick it.

Violetpool teleports beside me and joins the fight again.

Together we tear through the soldiers.

Bodies fly across the streets. Some crash into nearby apartments and houses.

I rip a soldier's spine out and swing it like a whip, cutting through more troops.

Beside me, Violetpool tears chunks of concrete from the street and smashes them into soldiers' faces.

I dart forward, slamming a soldier into the concrete before dragging his body like a battering ram into the next wave. His ribs crunch under my weight, and he lets out a gurgling scream that quickly cuts off. I twist his arm back, shattering it, then dig my claws into his shoulder. The snap is audible across the street. I toss him into a group of three, watching as his broken body tears through them.

Violetpool doesn't waste a second. She spins between the remaining soldiers like a shadow, each movement precise and calculated. An electric baton swings at her face—she ducks and lets it pass, then pivots, planting her claws in the side of a soldier's neck before using his body to block the next shockwave aimed at her spine. Her eyes dart constantly, mapping every threat, predicting every move.

I catch another soldier raising his rifle. I smash the butt of my hand into his chest, ribs collapsing under my strength, then crush his skull with a stomp as he drops. Blood sprays across my chest, mixing with the gore on my hands. Another steps forward, screaming, and I grab him by the jaw, twisting violently until he passes out from shock and pain.

Violetpool leaps onto a rooftop, vaulting over the machine gunner's aim. She twists midair, claws slashing down into his neck, then lands behind another squad. She doesn't hesitate—she tears apart a soldier's arm and uses it to swing him into the others, creating a chain of carnage. Every swing, every strike, every kill is methodical, like a predator dissecting the battlefield.

I see more soldiers trying to flank Violetpool. I spin, launching my claws forward, slicing tendons and muscles. One tries to grab me, but I drive my elbow into his throat. He gasps, then collapses, leaving a pool of blood at his knees. I pick up the baton he dropped and snap it over my leg before tossing it aside.

The air vibrates as choppers circle back, miniguns whirring. I hurl cosmic energy at them, making them explode midair. Shrapnel rains down, hitting soldiers who aren't fast enough. Violetpool teleports across the debris, catching a soldier about to reload, twisting his spine so sharply it breaks with a wet snap, then uses his body to block a baton aimed at my head.

The remaining soldiers regroup, swinging batons and charging. I grab one, slam him into the asphalt, and drive my claws through his back, lifting him like a marionette before letting him drop. His scream is swallowed by the chaos. Violetpool darts in and out of sight, cutting throats, ripping weapons from hands, using bodies as shields, shields as weapons. Every strike brutal, calculated, and fast.

I glance at her and nod. No words needed. Together, we move like a single machine of carnage, leaving only blood, shattered bones, and ruined armor in our wake. The streets are littered with corpses, and still the army comes, trying to regroup, trying to find a way past us. But they are nothing. Nothing but prey. And we are the predators.

I crouch slightly, my fingers curling into claws, and summon dozens of cosmic spikes around me. They hover, humming with energy, sharp enough to pierce anything. The next wave of soldiers charges toward us. I fling the spikes forward.

SHNNNNK—SHNNNNK—SHNNNNK!

Bodies are impaled instantly. Soldiers scream as they turn into human kabobs, spikes tearing through armor, torsos, and limbs. Blood sprays across the street. Some bodies flop lifelessly, others twitch, but the damage is total. I don't even blink.

Violetpool doesn't waste a second. A chopper drops low, aiming to reload and strike. She teleports inside, moving like liquid shadow. Before the pilot can react, she drives her claws through his neck, letting him collapse into his seat. Two officers inside scramble, trying to grab her, but she ignores them completely.

With a grin twisting on her face, she teleports just before the chopper crashes into another. The explosion lights up the streets, shattering glass and tossing debris everywhere. She reappears on a rooftop across the chaos, hair still violet, suit torn but perfect for movement.

Her lips curl into a small, almost sinister smile. No words, just a silent acknowledgment. She's enjoying this.

"This is kinda fun…" she mutters quietly to herself.

Both of us snap our heads to the retreating soldiers.

"RUN!" one screams in panic.

"WHAT WAS I THINKING FOLLOWING ORDERS TO KILL SUCH A POWERFUL ALIEN!? I TAKE IT BACK! I LOVE MY LIFE!!" another shouts, stumbling over debris as he scrambles for safety.

None of it matters. I summon a massive cosmic ball above them. It pulses with raw energy, humming like the heartbeat of a dying star. With a thought, it unleashes a gamma-ray blast, incinerating everything in its radius. Flesh, armor, and weapons—nothing survives. Smoke, ash, and sparks fill the streets.

I stand still amid the ruin.

"I'm gonna miss Ashely," I murmur, letting the weight of it hit me. My heart drops for a moment, then I scan the wreckage, making sure Violetpool wasn't caught in the blast.

She materializes beside me, dust swirling around her, suit torn but perfect for movement.

"I've never seen you do that one before…" she says, a hint of impressed awe in her voice.

Relief spreads through me, and I grin.

"Purplepool says not to use it. Doesn't want me ending the world that fast," I say, pride creeping into my tone as I cross my arms. "And what you saw? That's just half of what it can do."

She shakes her head with a slight smile.

"I can't even be mad at you for being this confident when you have every reason to be."

MEANWHILE…

I limp away, every step a reminder of how badly I've been beaten.

All I do… is get injured by these damn aliens.

Fucking… aliens…

I'm surprised I'm even alive right now.

Come on, Kurt… keep your eyes open…

Fuck…

I trip, my consciousness slipping. I crawl to the wall of a nearby building, my crushed foot bleeding through the pain. I press against the rough concrete, trying to steady myself.

Freddy…

I failed him. Not just as a father, but as the man he looked up to. He was supposed to grow up knowing his dad was the best FBI agent—but now he'll grow up with a dead one.

What if he tries to avenge me…?

What am I saying? I'm a horrible father… who would ever care enough to avenge me…?

I just… I just wanted more time. More talks, more laughs… more of anything. I wanted him to know me, really know me…

I'm getting sleepy…I guess it's fine if Ijust close my eyes for a little bit.

THE NEXT DAY…

An officer barges into Jim's office.

"SIR! KURT WAS FOUND DEAD OUTSIDE A BUILDING LAST NIGHT!"

Jim's eyes widen,

He stays silent for a moment.

"I see…" he murmured, "Go tell his family and ask if they wanted the world to know about it too." He finally spoke up with an authoritative tone.

The officer nods then turn around,

"AH!!" He yelps as he staggers back with shock and fear.

Me and Violetpool stand beside eachother.

"Hey, i heard you're the one in charge of these guys. I want to have a word with you."

I spoke up.

Violetpool taps the officers shoulder and teleports him behind her, just to get him out the way.

Jim takes a breath, sweating a little with fear of the unknown. He doesn't know whether this can end with everyone in the base being slaughtered or if it ends peacefully.

"G-go ahead…" he spoke nervously.

I step foward.

"Give us the same exact rights humans have. Don't expose our secret identities, give us ID's, all that human stuff. I also demand you give both of us a good house and we get paid 20 million per week!" I demanded with a calm tone.

Jim tightens his jaw.

Silence filled the room.

"And…if i refuse?" He asked hesitantly.

I stare him down.

"Extinction.".

His breathing patterns shift a little.

"Okay, okay… yeah…i'll—uh uh uh…. D-do that.. for you.. sir.." he swallows nervously.

He clears his throat.

His hands tremble still.

"I… I'll get the legal team on it and make sure your IDs and payments are processed," he stammers and nods frantically.

I nod back.

"Good. Make sure my legal name is Ben Grayson and make her legal name Violet Grayson." I gesture towards Violetpool.

She crosses her arm.

"Yeah." She huffs.

Jim continues nodding, "I'll make sure that's done too!!".

Once we both walk out the room and slam the door behind us, Jims face falls against his desk with relief.

"This has to be the worst year for mankind…fucking aliens…".

2 MONTHS LATER…

A group of masked men show up, shooting civilians down.

They continue to keep shooting people and reloading their guns.

The police arrive but they get gunned down as well.

"WHOO! HELL YEAH, BABY!!!" One of shooters exclaimed with excitement.

I watch the report on the news with my 4k big TV inside Violetpool and I's big, beautiful, mansion.

The couch was comfortable and royal blue. It was one of those big couches.

One of the maids walk up to me, "Mister Pool, isn't this your chance to be a hero?" She asked.

I shook my head.

"Nope!" I smiled at her in my regular form. Did i mention I'm wearing extremely comfortable pajamas right now?

She's taken aback, "But sir…30+ people just got shot down…" she spoke with concern.

I shrug.

"So? That ain't my problem! Maybe if humans were bulletproof like me and V, this wouldn't have been this serious. Plus, I'm not even a hero. I'm more of a…. Hero-whenever-i-feel-like-it" I nod, approving my own words.

She sighs.

"Alright." She said deadpanly, walking away with disappointment.

THE END.
