30. Everywhere you go.
Had Milcah not abruptly roused her from her dreams, Damaris might well have slept through the entire morning, spending her time with the man who haunted her night.
For a moment she wondered if the events of the night had been but a fraction of her dreams—but the sight of her damp dress tucked in a corner made her realize it had all been real.
And then came the true problem… What was she to say to him when she faced him?
"Tell me George—what do you think I should say?" she asked, as she fed the caged monkey. Having successfully caught the creature, she realized she had grown attached to it, and so she decided to keep it in a cage, as a pet of sorts.
At least this way, her plants would be spared.
