(late March, year 54 AK)
'Yes, finally figured it out, this should work...' Yuta thought as he performed a series of hand seals.
He was still in bed at the hospital, it was the third day Yuta was here, and out of the boredom and inability to walk around freely, he started to experiment with his genjutsu to try to cast it on himself in the absence of a suitable target.
With the knowledge and experience with genjutsu Yuta already had at this point, he knew that casting genjutsu on himself is possible, and it was one of the ways a ninja could train their genjutsu skills, but it requires some minor adjustments to the technique and since Shisui was helping him all this time, Yuta didn't see the need to practice genjutsu using himself as the target up until now.
But out of the boredom, for the third day all he was doing was trying to figure out how to adjust his genjutsu to affect himself with it, and he finally done it.
As Yuta completed the jutsu, he opened his eyes and looked to his right. He knew there was a window to his right, but now, as he was affected by his own Shadow Cloak genjutsu that interfering with his perception, he looked all around the wall to his right and saw no window there.
'So that how it is to be on the receiving end of the jutsu feels like? It feels strange...' Yuta thought as he was looking for the window, unable to see it, or rather recognize and comprehend its existence, to Yuta, the wall to his right now looked barren, with nothing special about it, even though he knew full well there is a big window that is still there, but when he tries to look directly at the place where it supposed to be, his attention slips and he instinctively looks away, unable to notice the window on the barren wall.
'But still, it's not perfect...' He thought as he moved his arm forward and observed the direct sunlight on it, as he traced the rays of sunlight with his sight, he only found the barren wall where it was coming from, but still, his mind was slipping from the topic and it required a conscious effort for Yuta to think about the inconsistencies of what he sees, it's like his mind was trying to ignore the problem of the sunlight coming from nowhere and trying to dismiss it altogether.
'My jutsu making me to not notice the window, and ignore all about it, interfering with my perception, recognition and comprehension, but I still can see the sunlight that is coming through the window, and when I try to think about it, my jutsu was trying to cut off that as well, since it directly connected to the original block that my jutsu is putting on my mind.' As Yuta analyzed his own jutsu from the receiving end for the first time, he gained a deeper understanding of it and got some ideas on how to further improve it.
The door suddenly opened and Shisui entered the room.
"Hey, Yuta, how are you doing?" Shisui casually said as he walked closer to Yuta's bed, but as he was walking, he suddenly freezes in place and tensed up, his eyes turned red as he quickly looked over Yuta's body, and as he did, he immediately relaxed and deactivated his Sharingan.
"Experimenting with genjutsu on yourself I see." Shisui said with the same casual tone as he came closer.
"Hey Shisui, nice to see you, it's boring here and nothing much to do anyway." Yuta said excitedly as he saw Shisui. Yuta noticed Shisui activating his Sharingan briefly, but he didn't pay it any mind as he figured Shisui must've noticed traces of the genjutsu on him and assumed he was attacked or something, but with his Sharingan he surely could see that the genjutsu's chakra was his own.
After that Yuta formed Ram hand seal and with a one forceful push of chakra, he successfully dispelled his own genjutsu and immediately noticed a window to his right that he was unable to see before. Yuta could've just canceled the jutsu directly, since he was the caster of it, but he wanted to get a feel of how it is to dispel it the normal way.
'Hm, it was easy, the genjutsu has a weak grip on the chakra network it was affecting, with such a weak grip I probably could dispel it even without the help of the Ram hand seal, but strengthening its grip on the target's chakra network will make it more noticeable and less subtle...' Yuta analyzed.
"You should be careful when you cast genjutsu on yourself, there is some dangers in doing that." Shisui warned.
"Yes, I'm aware." Yuta replied, "Hey, is it alright for you to visit me so openly?" Yuta asked as he realized they aren't in the remote training grounds but in the public hospital.
"It's fine." Shisui said calmly, "You missed the team assignments today, and here, it's yours now." Shisui handed something to Yuta.
As Yuta received the item and looked at it, he immediately recognized the Leaf headband, the one and only identification token of all of the Konohagakure ninjas.
"Your teacher was supposed to hand it over to you after your combat evaluation test, but well, you didn't show up." Shisui explained casually.
"So, I'm a Genin now..." Yuta mumbled, being deep in thoughts as he absentmindedly examined the headband.
'How long it had been since me coming into this world?' Yuta thought, 'Three and a half years of objective time, but if I count all the time including the time-travels, it would be about six years probably, I can't say for sure since I didn't count precisely how much time I spend in my time-loops before. And after all this time, I'm finally become a shinobi officially, huh...'
"Anyway, how are you feeling?" Shisui asked.
"I'm fine, it almost didn't hurt, I honestly don't understand why they aren't letting me go already, I wasn't hurt that much in the first place..." Yuta ranted with some annoyance in his voice.
"Good, that means you won't miss your first assignment. I've spoken with a doctor, and you will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow morning. You are to go to the training grounds sixty-eight to meet your new team then."
"Understood. But why are you the one who brough me the news and the headband anyway?" Yuta asked
"You haven't figured that out yet? That's funny. Later." Shisui laughed a little and left, leaving Yuta confused.
'What's with him today I wonder...' Yuta thought and then a wild guess surfaced in his mind, 'No, it can't be... I'm surely just imagining it, according to the original story this is not how it supposed to go, right?'
...
Next day, early in the morning, in Yuta's room at the hospital, Akemi, the doctor from before, removed the bandages from Yuta's chest and examined it. As Yuta was sitting on his bead, she touched Yuta's chest and Yuta felt a foreign chakra invading his body, he didn't resist it, allowing it to move freely through him.
"Good." Akemi commented as she finished the examination and stepped back, "The healing process is going smoothly, but you should be careful for the next week at least, the ribs are still not fully healed yet!" Akemi said sternly, then continued in a calm tone, "With that you are good to go."
"Thanks, Akemi-san."
'I'm glad the medical treatment is free here, I wouldn't know how to pay for it either way...' Yuta thought.
With that, Yuta finally was allowed to leave the hospital, as he left, he hurried up to the training grounds that Shisui mentioned the day before, from his studies at the academy, Yuta remembered where the training grounds sixty-eight are supposed to be.
As Yuta hurried through the still half-empty streets early in the morning, he stopped at a weapon shop and bought a few new kunai and some shurikens, since his supplies were empty and he had a suspicion that he would need them there. Yuta had spent almost all of his money on it and now he was worried that if he didn't get paid soon then he might have to resort to fishing and hunting for food.
As Yuta found the training grounds, he saw it was a large clearing area with some trees on the sides. He hurriedly ran to the center of it and spotted two kids there around his age. As he came closer, he corrected himself – not kids but ninjas, no different from himself, as age doesn't matter since if you are wearing a headband, then you are officially an adult.
As Yuta approached the other two, he recognized them as Itachi and Hikari from his class.
'So, I did end up on Itachi's team somehow. Shisui has something to do with that, I'm sure of it.' Yuta thought.
As Yuta approached them, Itachi and Hikari turned around and faced him, Itachi simply nodded.
"You are late!" Hikari stated with annoyance in her voice.
"Huh, I came as soon as I was able to." Yuta said calmly.
"Excuses!" Hikari interjected.
'Sigh, great start already...' Yuta thought tiredly.
