(late March, year 54 AK)
'Damn he is relentless...' Yuta tiredly thought as he was running through the forest in circles with the examiner pursuing him. It was the third time that he tried to set up a trap with ninja wire, shurikens and some kunai to try and ambush the examiner, but all three times the examiner avoided or dodged the trap and Yuta's attempts to get closer in range undetected for casting a genjutsu failed, and he was forced to retreat for the third time already, unable to find a single opening.
Yuta felt how the exhaustion was catching up with him, his chakra reserves was already half-depleted, since he casted Clone jutsu multiple time, trying to divert the examiner's attention, but the most chakra that Yuta spent was on the first successful Shadow Cloak genjutsu at the beginning, since the examiner had a huge amount of chakra, influencing his chakra network put a big strain on Yuta's chakra reserves, as well as occasional usage of chakra for a basic enhancement of his speed, if not for that he would've being cut already.
Yuta's mind was racing, trying to come up with a strategy, his hand moved to his pouch but then he remembered, that he used up all of his ninja tools already, all he had left is a single kunai. Sweat was rolling down from his face as he forced himself to keep going at him maximum speed.
'No use... I can't continue like that, I'll just exhaust myself. This is just a test, but if this situation were to happen for real, according to combat tactics the best option here, I believe, is to prepare for the last stand and fight with whatever I have left...'
'I already cast my Shadow Cloak genjutsu on him once, so he knows about it and he will be on guard against it. There is one more trick I have in mind, but the problem is, I never used it before, I only had an idea, and I don't know if it will work. But even if it doesn't, there is not much I can do otherwise, and I'll have to resort to taijutsu in the end...'
...
'Decent trapping and ambushing skills for a Genin, although it is crude and he lacks experience. The way he is able to spot my location each time, he must be a sensor type as well...' Koichi analyzed as he avoided the third trap and ambush setup, and continued pursuing him, keeping some distance, waiting, 'I wonder if you have anything else left for me, kid.'
Shortly after, Koichi caught up with Yuta and saw him some distance away... or rather them.
"Trying to fool me with clones again? That won't work against me, kid!" Koichi said loudly with contempt, trying to unsettle Yuta's mind with words, as he saw three Yuta's standing in front of him in a distance.
Koichi quickly checked for clues to find the real one, but he noticed that the ground Yuta and his clones are standing are cleared up from plants, and all three Yuta's have a footprints on the ground, so it was impossible for Koichi to determine where is the real one at the moment.
'Clever, but useless...' Koichi thought as he grabbed a kunai and was about to throw it at one of Yutas, but then he remembered how Yuta performed so far and realized, that with how careful and smart Yuta was he won't gamble like that, exposing himself among the clones and betting that Koichi will attack the wrong one, leaving him an opening.
'So, the real one must be somewhere else...' Koichi concluded, but as he did so, he felt a familiar subtle and careful influence of foreign chakra enveloping his chakra network.
'Trying the same old trick again? Seems you really don't have anything else in store for me then. It's time to wrap this up...' Koichi thought, as he ignored the three Yuta clones in front of him and started looking for the real Yuta's whereabouts.
As Koichi started to look around, he forcefully stopped his chakra flow and with one skillful disruption he destroyed the foreign chakra layer, that enveloped his chakra network, dispelling the genjutsu right away. He didn't want to play games with Yuta's genjutsu anymore, as he didn't want to let the academy student win the fight against him, a Jonin, as that would be too embarrassing for him, after all.
Although Koichi believed that the two previous academy students he evaluated today was stronger than Yuta in terms of chakra and physical strength, and even in ninjutsu proficiency, both of them, Itachi Uchiha and Hikari, didn't stand any chance at scoring a victory against him in a fight. But Yuta Arai, although he was clearly weaker in almost all aspects, he actually had a shot at winning the fight. This thought alone made Koichi raise his guard considerably and take it much more seriously.
As the genjutsu was dispelled, Koichi quickly realized that the real Yuta was running at him with a kunai in his hand from the opposite direction from where his clones were.
Koichi turned around and prepared to face Yuta, but as he did, his honed instincts told him that something was wrong here. Koichi quickly analyzed the situation and realized, that the feeling of foreign chakra enveloping his chakra network are still there.
'What is going on? I'm sure that I successfully dispelled the genjutsu...' Koichi thought as he saw Yuta coming closer, he also noticed, that the three Yuta's clones are also approaching him from behind, while he was hastily trying to figure out why the genjutsu are still affecting him.
'This is getting dangerous...' Koichi thought as his trained mind was working at lightning speed, 'If the same genjutsu are still on me, then I won't be able to notice and react in time to his next attack, I don't have time to dispel it again since he is already too close, and there is no guarantee that genjutsu would be dispelled for good next time...'
'I see. He must've cast the second layer of his genjutsu on me and timed it perfectly with me dispelling it, so I won't notice it right away, clever and quite impressive for a Genin to have such a proficiency with genjutsu! Too bad, it still not enough...'
Koichi quickly pull out a smoke bomb from his pouch and thrown it on the ground, as it detonates and covers the large area with dense smoke, Koichi jumped into the air while performing a quick series of hand seals and poured a large amount of water from his mouth directly under him, washing everything away with a two-meters-tall wave of water that spread in all directions, and countering Yuta's attack, as with this area of affect it wasn't that important, if Koichi can locate Yuta or not.
As Koichi performed a water style jutsu, right after that as he was landing, he focused on his own chakra and skillfully dispelled the genjutsu that was still affecting him, this time he immediately checked if the feeling of foreign chakra is gone for good and confirmed it.
...
'Damn, almost got him...' Yuta thought as he was struggling to get up after he was hit by a water style jutsu, his chest was hurting a lot where the water wave suddenly hit him before it washed him some distance away.
His plan was to distract the examiner with clones while casting two layers of Shadow Cloak on him in hope that it will work, and the examiner won't dispel the second layer right away and to immediately go in to finish the fight by mocking a fatal hit with a kunai while the examiner was still under the genjutsu and wasn't able to notice him.
It went well at first and when Yuta almost reached the examiner, the smoke suddenly obstructed his vision and the next instant he was hit by a water style jutsu.
Yuta finally managed to stand up with a lot of effort, he was very exhausted at this point, and his chakra was almost completely depleted as well, as casting two layers of Shadow Cloak genjutsu on the examiner put a huge strain on him and costed him almost all of the remaining chakra he had left at that point.
He already lost and he knew that, but still, since the examiner didn't said anything to stop the fight, Yuta mastered the last bits of his strength, and rushed at the examiner with a kunai once again with determination to at least try to put up a fight.
The examiner watched Yuta's approaching him once again with a calm look on his face. As Yuta reached him, he squeezed the last bits of his chakra to try to enhance his physical speed and strength in a last-ditch attempt and attacked the examiner with a kunai.
The examiner blocked the attack with a kunai of his own and the fight continued, Yuta was desperately trying to score at least a scratch on the examiner, but he quickly realized that he was not even close to match him in a direct fight.
The examiner was an adult and experienced shinobi, he was much taller, and has much greater reach, his speed and strength was much greater than Yuta's, and after trading a couple more blows Yuta felt how his focus starts to waver and his moves starts to falter, he was about to collapse any second now and his taijutsu was deteriorating at a visible speed... But since the fight isn't over yet, Yuta knew he has to continue...
"That's enough, kid!" The examiner said loudly as he suddenly jumped back and created some distance between them, stopping the fight, "You did well, you pass."
But as soon as Yuta heard the first sentence and realized that it was finally over, his tired mind and body immediately collapsed under the strain he put himself during this fight, and he lost consciousness and fell where he stood...
