Chapter 100 - Peter’s New "Friends"

Quinn, Vorden, and Peter sat in the middle of the auditorium, sitting in seats close to the aisle.

On screen, they watched an armored figure wearing a red-and-gold suit fighting against a man with long, black hair, braided into dreadlocks, in the middle of what appeared to be a racetrack.

He had orange pants on, and his bare upper torso was covered in pieces of machinery.

His chest was covered in a metal harness with a white, glowing circle in the middle, and he had metal braces down his arms.

In each hand, he held a black handle with flexible, metal segments enveloped in white electricity, making them look like electric whips.

The man in the armor raised his right arm up.

A white sphere in the center of his palm lit up, before a beam of energy shot out.

Suddenly, Vorden heard footsteps approaching them from the aisle.

It was then that Vorden heard a voice.

"So the 'supply run' turned into 'let's go watch a movie', huh?" The voice asked in an amused tone.

The group's eyes widened hearing the voice.

Instantly, they all snapped their heads back.

It was then that they saw Tsukuru standing behind them, with a strange humanoid creature standing next to him, holding drinks.

While Quinn and Vorden recognized it as Tsukuru's Harpie, Peter had never seen it before.

Tsukuru and the Harpie sat in the row behind the three.

They all sat in silence, as they watched the movie.

At one point, Vorden spoke up.

"We ran into your sister hanging around with Sergeant Faye in the convenience store earlier." Vorden replied, glancing back at Tsukuru. "She seemed kinda annoyed that you weren't there with us."

Tsukuru glanced to the side.

"Huh." He muttered. "So that's why she was stalking me and Amelia…"

Hearing this, Vorden raised an eyebrow.

"'Amelia'?" He asked.

Tsukuru narrowed his eyes.

"She's a girl I met in the assembly hall." He muttered in a slightly-annoyed tone.

The group continued to watch the movie.

On screen, it now showed a scene of the armored man, now flanked with a man in a suit of armor that was silver, and loaded with weapons, including a machine gun mounted on his right shoulder fighting against a larger man in armor.

Like in the earlier scene, the man had an electro-whip coming out of each hand.

The two armored men each pointed their arms out with the larger man between them. Their palms began to light up, charging energy.

The larger man let out a scream, as he was caught in the blast.

When the movie was over, the three of them began to pack up.

Tsukuru gathered up the empty containers from his snacks, the popcorn, and the drinks, and deposited them in a nearby trash can.

The four of them seemed happy as they walked out of the theater, but that all changed when Peter looked over.

A distance away, he spotted a group of high-Level first-years he had met before.

Seeing them, Tsukuru narrowed his eyes.

It was the same group that he, Quinn, and Vorden had seen him sitting with at the canteen.

As soon as Peter and the group of high-Levels made eye contact, they signaled to him that they wanted to talk.

Seeing the look, Peter gulped.

He then turned to the others.

"Hey, guys." He replied sheepishly. "I just remembered that I promised to meet up with a few people from school tonight." He scratched the back of his head, nervous. "It was really great hanging out with you guys, but I'll see you later when I get back to the dorm."

The other three boys all exchanged looks. From the looks on their faces, they all had the same thought.

Peter's words seemed suspicious.

"Hey, Peter." Vorden replied. "You know, if something's up, you can always tell me. I'll help you out."

Hearing this, Peter let out a nervous laugh.

"It's fine! I promise!" Peter said, looking from side-to-side. "I really did make some new friends. Sorry, but I gotta go. Bye, guys!"

Peter then took off out of sight.

Tsukuru narrowed his eyes. Unlike Quinn and Vorden, Tsukuru was aware that Peter had played a part in that "assembly hall" stunt Mono had pulled.

He glanced back at the Harpie, still standing next to him.

He could always send her after him.

Tsukuru let out a long sigh, causing Quinn and Vorden to turn to him, a confused look on their faces.

Meanwhile, Peter continued running.

No matter what happened, Peter didn't want an incident like what happened yesterday to happen again.

He would deal with his own problems.

Vorden was strong, but from the fight last time, he clearly wasn't strong enough to handle the second-years.

And Peter knew they were behind everything.

Peter finally turned a corner into an alleyway where five first-year students were patiently waiting.

"Took you long enough." The student in the front said in an annoyed tone.

He had a scar on his cheek, and was named Earl.

He was the leader of the group of first-years who served under Mono's gang.

Suddenly, Earl threw Peter against the wall.

"What the hell were you thinking, going and getting the Sergeants yesterday?!" Earl snarled. "Now, Mono and the others are giving us a hard time for relying on you!"

Earl punched Peter in the stomach, causing him to kneel over, and fall to the ground.

"Why should we get punished when this is all your fault?!" Earl roared, kicking Peter in the stomach.

He walked up to Peter, and grabbed his hand. Earl snapped one of Peter's fingers back. Peter let out a loud scream.

"Will you lot just gag him, already?!" Earl snarled, snapping his head back towards his "friends".

One of them ripped off a long piece of his shirt.

He then walked up behind Peter, and tied it around his face over his mouth, gagging him.

"Now, we have another job for you, Peter." Earl growled. "And you better do it right this time! Got it?!"

Instantly, Peter shook his head violently.

He had already decided that no matter what, he would never betray his friends again.

Seeing this lit a fire in Earl's eyes.

A vein on the side of his head popped, as the anger inside him grew.

A lowly first-year dared to go against him?!

It was already bad enough that he was already working under somebody else, despite being a Level 4, himself!

This wasn't the life he expected at the school, and needed to take his anger out somehow.

Earl grabbed Peter's fingers and began to snap them one-by-one.

Each time he broke a finger, he would ask Peter if he was willing to help them.

But each time, Peter shook his head no.

In the end, all five of Peter's fingers were broken, and Peter still hadn't agreed to their request.

Earl grit his teeth, and snapped his head over to the group.

"Jerry!" He snarled. "Get your ass over here!"

One of the first-years standing behind Earl came over, and knelt down.

He placed his hands on top of Peter's, and slowly began to feel a warm sensation.

Peter felt his bones beginning to mend back into shape, Peter's hand being healed.

A big smile appeared on Earl's face.

He grabbed Peter's fingers, and began the process of breaking them all over again.

Once all the fingers were broken, Jerry would heal them again, and Earl would restart the cycle.

Eventually, an hour had passed.

Peter's mind had given up from the pain.

Without him even realizing it, he no longer wanted to feel the pain.

He nodded, agreeing to the request.

An annoyed look appeared on Earl's face.

"You should have just agreed in the first place, Level 1 trash!" Earl snarled. "Then we wouldn't have had to waste our valuable time on this!" Earl leaned down closer to Peter.

"Now listen up!" He hissed. "And this time, you'd better do it right, and not get anyone else involved!"
