I turned Maya, Moro, and Jai into vampires as well.
The forest was drowned in screams once again. It was a haunting melody, one that would have probably terrified me just a few months ago.
Anyway, four new vampires stood like silent, crimson-eyed statues around the perimeter, guarding the place.
They didn't let a single living thing near our camp. Whether it was a curious predator or just the wind rustling the tall grass, they were on it in an instant, their new instincts keeping us in a bubble of absolute safety.
And so, I just relaxed near the fire, watching the three writhe on the ground as they became vampires. I watched them with a sense of genuine amusement, not because I enjoyed their pain, but because the process itself was so fascinating to witness.
