"Why are you here?" Severine asked, trying to wiggle her arms out of the guard's grip.
Yet, for some absurd reason, her strength was giving out.
"Stop struggling, Severine," Emily clicked her tongue in annoyance. "You will only make it hard for yourself. Haven't you noticed it yet? You can't summon your powers now."
Severine's lashes trembled.
She clenched her fist, but that burning power remained docile inside her.
Her head whipped to Alina's side. The poor girl had fallen to the ground as if lifeless.
Her eyes were closed, her lips pale from the cold. Alina was in the same state as her. Both of them were, for some reason, unable to summon any ounce of power.
Severine's mind spun as she tried again and again. Not a flicker of her power ignited.
Why now, out of all times!
"Pfftt. Do you want to know why? Beg me."
Severine's lips parted slightly as she spit out two words. "Andrei's soup."
Emily clapped her hands. "Correct! As expected of a genius. Well done!"
