But it didn't stop there.
The next moment, Kai burst out of the crowd while running at full speed.
One against three!
Kai controlled the ball at the edge of the penalty area and tapped it twice with his left foot in quick succession.
The Dutch center-back thought Kai was about to shoot, but instead Kai feinted and sent him tumbling to the ground.
Boom!
Left-footed shot!
The ball curled in a beautiful arc and flew straight into the far corner.
"GOAL!"
"What a strike!"
"He beat three players! Sent the defender to the ground! Top-corner finish!"
"Kai! Kai is unstoppable!"
"This shot looks very similar to Arjen Robben's attempt earlier in the match. The difference is the result. Robben hit the post, but Kai buried it!"
"This is absolutely the most spectacular goal of the game!"
"If it had been Ricardo Quaresma scoring like that, I wouldn't be so surprised."
"Even Cristiano Ronaldo is capable of producing a heroic moment like this."
"But no one expected Kai to be the one to stand out for Portugal! In the 103rd minute, he used his weakest foot to score a stunning goal!"
"Is this football's Caesar? No—this is the God of the pitch!"
Inside the stadium.
After scoring, Kai sprinted straight toward the corner flag.
He leaped high into the air and spun 180 degrees before landing.
Arms stretched downward.
A god descending from the sky.
The entire stadium followed him and shouted the iconic chant:
"Siuuuuu!"
In the stands, Heather Matarazzo was stunned.
"Annie… your boyfriend is ridiculously handsome."
For the first time, Anne Hathaway nodded without arguing.
"Yeah… he really is."
The score became 4–3.
Portugal had taken the lead in the first half of extra time.
They now had control of the match.
During the break, the Dutch head coach was shouting furiously, but his players were already exhausted.
Extra time was a huge burden for young players.
This was exactly where Kai's incredible stamina became terrifying.
In modern football, where most players already have excellent fitness, this advantage might not be so obvious.
But in youth competitions—especially in extra time—it was absolutely deadly.
The match resumed.
108th minute.
José Bosingwa and Ricardo Quaresma attacked down the flank.
Kai made a forward run through the inside channel and received Bosingwa's diagonal pass just before the byline.
It wasn't a flashy technical move.
The real reason Kai got the ball so "easily" was because the defenders simply couldn't keep up with his running anymore.
Boom!
Near the byline inside the box, Kai cut the ball back with an inverted-triangle pass.
Cristiano Ronaldo calmly pushed the ball into the net from the penalty spot.
5–3.
The game was essentially decided.
118th minute.
Portuguese fans were already standing, ready to celebrate the hard-earned victory.
But Kai, who was getting more and more excited as the match went on, still couldn't stop.
He unleashed a long-range shot from outside the box, forcing a corner kick.
Raúl Meireles took the corner.
It was cleared out.
Meireles collected the ball again and sent in another cross—but this time it skimmed along the ground.
Ronaldo had already positioned himself perfectly, battling John Heitinga.
Heitinga was making plenty of small fouls. Earlier, when Hugo Viana was injured, if a goal had resulted, the referee might even have given Heitinga a yellow card and a penalty.
From that perspective, Heitinga had already gotten away with a lot.
But this time Ronaldo won the physical duel.
However, the contact with Heitinga ruined Ronaldo's shooting angle, and the ball slipped through his legs.
Boom!
Kai charged in from deep to meet it.
Wesley Sneijder, who had been marking him, was completely fooled by Kai's fake run.
In the 118th minute, during a chaotic scramble in the box, Kai still had the composure to fake a run before striking.
That was terrifying.
The ball slammed into the net.
Kai scored again.
6–3!
At that moment, several Dutch players collapsed to their knees on the pitch.
Despair.
Frustration.
Helplessness.
Acceptance.
Too many emotions mixed together.
Kai broke free from his teammates' arms and ran again toward the corner flag.
His teammates were exhausted now.
Even Ronaldo didn't follow him to celebrate.
Kai reached the corner flag, grabbed a nearby microphone, turned toward the stands where Hathaway was sitting, and pointed in her direction.
"Thank you for coming to watch this game! Without your support, it would have been hard for us to win!"
"I wish The Princess Diaries huge success at the box office!"
"Don't forget to go to the cinema and watch it!"
The fans instantly understood the hint and began shouting:
"Princess Diaries!"
"Princess Diaries!"
"Princess Diaries!"
Director Garry Marshall was smiling so widely his face almost cracked.
Camera flashes were going off everywhere.
This publicity effect…
was far beyond anything he had expected.
If Marshall had once been neutral about Kai and Hathaway's young relationship, now he honestly wouldn't mind witnessing their future wedding.
Who wouldn't like a kid like Kai?
Heather Matarazzo clapped excitedly and whispered into Hathaway's ear.
"Oh my God! You're so lucky! Not only does he love you, but he's also in insanely good physical shape!"
Hathaway froze.
Physical shape?
Lucky?
What kind of connection was that supposed to have?
A moment later, she lowered her head in embarrassment.
She was no longer completely innocent.
In the end, the match finished 6–3.
The Dutch team had played well.
But Portugal completely dominated extra time.
Post-Match Interviews
Wesley Sneijder said bluntly:
"It's hard to imagine any player having that much energy in extra time, especially someone who played from the first minute. But when Kai scored, it looked like he had just come onto the pitch."
Arjen Robben said helplessly:
"We underestimated Kai's stamina. After Viana went off injured, we relaxed a little. We didn't realize that it actually removed the leash on Kai."
Rafael van der Vaart added:
"I don't know what went wrong. Maybe I could have helped more if I had stayed on the field. But my fitness is definitely a problem I need to solve."
Robin van Persie laughed and said:
"Kai's girlfriend gave him huge motivation. No man wants to lose in front of the girl he loves. Once he realized Hathaway was in the stands, it was like he'd taken some kind of drug."
"Don't ask me what kind. Maybe the little blue pill."
John Heitinga looked annoyed during his interview.
"To be honest, I'll never watch The Princess Diaries. I hate Kai now. I don't want anything related to him. He and Cristiano Ronaldo are disgusting—always playing tricks."
At that moment, Kai happened to walk past him.
He stopped and asked:
"What movie are you not watching?"
Heitinga replied impatiently.
"The Princess Diaries."
Kai tilted his head.
"What diary?"
Heitinga frowned.
"The Princess Diaries."
Kai leaned closer.
"Princess what?"
Heitinga snapped:
"Princess Diaries! Princess Diaries! Princess Diaries!"
Kai smiled.
"Thanks."
Heitinga: ???
He felt like he had been completely played—but he couldn't figure out how.
The reporters froze for a moment.
Then they suddenly realized what had just happened.
Kai had tricked Heitinga into repeating the movie title three times on camera.
A marketing genius.
They instantly abandoned Heitinga and rushed toward Kai for interviews.
Kai calmly gestured for everyone not to crowd.
He looked relaxed and willing to answer questions.
A reporter asked:
"Did Hugo Viana's injury actually give you more freedom on the field?"
Kai shook his head seriously.
"Of course not. Viana is the core of our midfield. His role is irreplaceable."
"Losing him was a huge blow to our team."
