Chapter 24 - Heroic Smith I

Cynthia looked at the window dumbfounded for a moment. She turned to the craftsmen after a solid 5 seconds.

"You said something about kings earlier, how does one become a king?".

Klein was the first to answer "well the legends say that you must either usurp a throne or create your own, but nobody in the last millennia has achieved it so only actual kings would know.".

Cynthia had a sneaking suspicion. "The notification said that the stigma lost it's owner and that by completing it as my own I would become a king. So logically speaking this stigma should be a fragment of a throne…" She thought.

"My lady?" said Sebas, snapping Cynthia out of her deep thought.

"Right, yes!" said Cynthia as she wove a new cloak for Sebas out of her stigma.

As she bestowed it a blue window appeared "Would you like to appoint Sebas as a squire? Y/N"

and another popped up in response. "Squires are loyal retainers to their lord and liege, they are not mere advisors but future knights and champions of their lord. They are the elites of a lord's military ranks! Human knights are often the most powerful aura wielders among several nearby nations or territories!".

"Does Sebas gain any benefits from this?" Cynthia asked the system mentally.

As she asked a blue window appeared "upon being appointed every squire gains access to unique class evolutions completely independent of their racial and practiced abilities! They gain the title of squire, which can evolve and grant many rewards!".

"Then yes. Appoint Sebas as my first squire!" Thought Cynthia.

Suddenly trumpets and confetti appeared out of nowhere as Sebas on sheer instinct knelt on one knee. "Great… I guess this is another one of those world functions?" Cynthia growled in displeasure that such a worthlessly flashy thing happened. "Or was that you talking to the world to do something unnecessary?" thought Cynthia in the direction of the endlessly irritating system that seemed to once again be feigning ignorance with its unyielding silence.

Finally the menagerie said their goodbyes to the crafters and shopkeep to get some weapons made, they followed the directions to the letter and ended up at an imposing smithy if you could even call it that. It looked like a small castle! small only because castles are massive! While this smithy may not be a full castle, it was still a monstrosity of brick and mortar, the size of several apartment buildings put together with dozens of smoke clouds trailing into the sky, each a different color! It was a marvelous sight! As they walked up they saw that much of it was completely open. Barely any walls separated the bustling street from the arguably more bustling, and quite frantically so, inside of the workshop. Cynthia flagged down one of the many rookie apprentices,

"Hello, we would like to commission the master smith here!" said Cynthia.

"Little sister, you've come at just the right time!" said the apprentice.

Even though apprentice blacksmiths are masters of mortal craft, this young man looked to be in his early 20s. He would be considered a divine prodigy in circles of mortals but here he was simply an apprentice starting from the bottom.

"The grandmaster is ready to break through! This will be the birth of the first legendary blacksmith in centuries! Everyone is gathering to gain insights from his breakthrough and to see a once in several generations sight!" The young man said excitedly while scurrying off.

(Author Note: this novel is a blend of several genres as the myth realm includes works of fiction, so things like xianxia novels as well as knight and mage medieval style isekai stories are also included, and as such there will be a blend of phrases, and honorifics. That is to say that if nobody has read any murim or cultivation or anything that features old timey chinese cultural honorifics, the apprentice here doesn't actually think Cynthia is his little sister, he is just referring to her in a respectful manner when meeting a stranger.)

Everyone gathered in a wide open square a few blocks down. There wasn't nearly enough room for everyone, so Cynthia created a platform for herself above the rabble using a bit of her stigma, with a few chairs. For herself, an extravagant abyssal throne crowned with a tiger, with Sebas sitting on her right in a throne with skulls on the arm rests and Yue on her left with a throne crowned in a radiant moon that Cynthia intentionally made as reflective as possible. "It's annoying when other people do it, but I always love to show off!" Cynthia thought as she crossed her legs to watch the show as the onlookers gawked at the display they just saw by a group of what looked like children. A little girl and two teenagers pulled up to a historical event like it was their shining moment while a random butler with way too much hair was the only one attending them.

"Who are they?" one person asked in a hushed voice.

"They've gotta be some spoiled brats from a rich family!" whispered another.

As the crowd whispered Cynthia sensed something.

"Hey system, can you make a temporary mental link with all these lemmings through subjugation and then end it right after?" asked Cynthia mentally as a blue window popped up in response.

"Affirmative" said the panel

"Do it." ordered Cynthia

"Quiet NOW!" Roared Cynthia telepathically "It's starting. Don't disturb the grandmaster's demonstration!"

The connection was then cut as the grandmaster seemed to extract an ember from his chest. Cynthia could feel a spark of life, of sentience even, in that spark. It was a living breathing flame. In an instant the flame became a raging blaze. The fire flashed from red to orange to yellow to green to blue to purple to white, and then sparkled with all the colors at once! The smith levitated a piece of metal that felt like a vast ocean to Cynthia. Cynthia could tell that both the fire, and the metal were extraordinary materials, but the blacksmith wasn't done! He pulled out a chunk of ethereal white ice and put both the metal and the ice in the fire. The metal and the ice melted and melding together in a beautiful swirl as some of the flame mixed in too! It made a beautiful alloy, that felt like a scene of a rainbow across a frozen over lake. This wasn't just Cynthia feeling like this either! This was a projection from the world itself in recognition of the achievement! But this was far from over! All that has happened is the refinement of the materials! There was still the shaping, hammering, and quenching to be done!

(Author Note: Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth! I know there are a handful of people who read my novel and enjoy it for reasons other than glazing me to make more connections lol! And yes I do see all of the art and editing and publishing and marketing and all of the other business comments! All of that is VERY far down the line when I actually have the time and money to promote this from hobby to side hustle XD! Life got real my friends but I've been getting far too much inspiration to not put it somewhere! I will likely only continue uploading chapters on tapas and webnovel, until I have enough for a full volume, when I publish a full book on amazon, and finally start this as something that can actually make money! You know if i don't get ad revenue on tapas first. I believe it was 100 people adding my novel to their collection if I remember correctly for me to get that so please do! It bring me one step closer to doing this as an actual job which means you guys get more to see out of Cynthia and… Vlad Dracula Tepesh! Yes folks! You didn't think I'd pass up the chance to write actual historical legends into my story as characters did you?! I also plan to do Characters like siegfried, and hercules, thor and more! Although they likely all won't have their own books, but rest assured they will be in the story! Tell me what your favorite mythical hero or villain or anything in between is and maybe I'll make a bastardized version of them for you XD. P.S. I'm taking inspiration from luminous valentine for dracula LOL)
