~Kael's POV~
The surface itself was cracked, a clear mark of how long I had been standing there, taking everything out on something that could not fight back.
I let out a breath, tilting my head back to look at the ceiling.
"You've been going at it for at least an hour," King said, his tone calmer now, though the edge was still there. "What exactly were you expecting after destroying your equipment and the poor wall?"
"It's either the wall or his head," I replied without hesitation.
"I know," he said. "I wanted to end him, too. But—"
He stopped. I felt it the same second he did. There was a shift in presence.
King inhaled slowly, then stilled.
"She's here. Your wife is here. Handle it carefully and do not let her come too close when she reeks of another man, or I may do something you will regret when I take over."
That was not a suggestion. It was a warning.
King was not one to make empty threats.
