Seven Ring: First Stage Vol. 2
Chapter 49 — The Price of Resurrection
Our story begins exactly where it previously ended.
Jake Lee
was crying as fragments of painful memories flooded his mind.
Velldora
stood before him with a calm smile on his face.
Without hesitation, Velldora activated one of his skills. Golden vines burst out from the ground and wrapped tightly around Jake Lee's entire body.
Jake Lee
didn't even pay attention to what was happening to him.
Yet despite that, a terrifying aura began leaking from his body. The pressure was so overwhelming that even the golden vines slowly started turning black.
Velldora
looked genuinely shocked. His skill was no longer functioning properly.
He spoke with a faint smile:
"I expected nothing less from the universe's greatest swordsman.
Your body is so powerful that it's resisting my attack on its own.
Oh, swordsman… just how far have you trained your body?"
Around them, space itself appeared shattered, as if the path to another universe had been forcibly torn open.
At that moment, Jake Lee slowly stood up.
Jake Lee
said coldly:
"Are you done talking? Then let's fight."
Velldora
laughed softly.
"I wish I could fight you properly…
But unfortunately, I don't have much time left.
Instead, I have a deal for you."
Jake Lee
stared at him.
"What kind of deal?
And what do I gain from it?"
Velldora
"You gain exactly what you desire.
I can bring back the person you wish to see alive again."
Jake Lee's expression darkened instantly.
Jake Lee
"You dare lie to me while trying to save your own life?
How am I supposed to believe a single word you say?"
Velldora remained calm.
Velldora
"You're right.
How could anyone trust a man who slaughtered his own family?"
A sinister smile appeared on his face.
"But watch carefully…
I'm about to show you something very interesting."
Velldora pointed toward the corpse of his fallen student lying nearby.
Then, he activated a skill.
"Born To Life."
Golden light exploded from his hand.
The very next moment—
the dead student opened his eyes.
Jake Lee
was left completely stunned.
"How is this possible?
Once someone dies, they can't be brought back!"
Velldora
"In this universe… they can.
I possess a skill capable of resurrecting the dead."
The revived student looked terrified and confused.
Memories began flooding back into his mind—
the moment Jake Lee severed his head from his body.
Fear consumed him instantly.
He stumbled backward and hid behind Velldora, trembling violently.
"M-Master…"
His hands and legs shook uncontrollably.
He was so terrified that he couldn't even finish his sentence.
Velldora
glanced at him with irritation before calming himself again.
Still trembling, the student remained frozen in fear.
Velldora
"You're disturbing me.
Leave. I'll handle this myself."
As he spoke, a massive golden aura erupted from his body.
In an instant, the entire atmosphere turned silent and oppressive.
Velldora
looked back at Jake Lee.
"You've seen the proof with your own eyes.
Now tell me… what is your decision?"
Jake Lee
fell silent for a moment before speaking.
"That person still had a body… which is why you could revive him.
But what if the body no longer exists?
Could you still bring someone back?"
For the first time, Velldora's eyes narrowed with interest.
Velldora
"I never expected you to ask such a question.
My interest in you keeps growing."
He raised his hand slowly.
"I've never attempted something like this before…
But perhaps I can try."
Suddenly, a golden flame ignited in Velldora's palm.
Without warning—
he attacked his own student.
The student's eyes widened in horror.
"MASTER!! PLEASE SAVE ME!!"
But the golden flames consumed him instantly.
His screams echoed through the shattered dimension as his body turned into ash.
Nothing remained.
Not even a single trace of him survived.
Jake Lee watched the entire scene in disbelief.
How could someone kill their own student so mercilessly?
And the most terrifying part of all—
Velldora
was smiling.
He turned toward Jake Lee and spoke calmly.
"Now… let's erase your doubts."
Velldora walked toward the weapon that once belonged to his student.
Picking it up, he said:
"This weapon belonged to him."
Then he activated—
"Born To Life."
Golden energy surrounded the weapon.
But nothing happened.
No reaction.
No resurrection.
Silence filled the air.
Velldora slowly turned back toward Jake Lee with a smile on his face.
"It seems… I failed."
A quiet laugh escaped his lips.
"Looks like I cannot resurrect those whose bodies have been completely destroyed."
