Chapter 76 - I Will Bring You Back

***

[A few moments earlier]

The entire city of Grivendal had truly become deserted. In a building located in the capital, a yellow portal appeared in front of the yard of that building. Two people walked out of it. Geriel and David paused for a moment and observed the building. Its shape was like a medieval temple with The Graendall's distinctive pattern.

"Let us immediately enter the main chamber..." said Geriel.

They walked quickly down the stairs which were only illuminated by blue lanterns.

"This place is the tomb of Marsiel's twin sons, Grhemolus and Grhemus..."

David said nothing and continued walking following Geriel.

After some time walking, they arrived at a fairly large underground room lit by bright blue fire torches placed on pillars around it.

In the center there were 2 coffins made of dark blue precious stone. But what was different was that one of the coffins had no lid, instead there was a long blood-red spear embedded into the coffin.

"That is the weapon I meant. The Grunginus spear belonging to Grhemolus. Marsiel has given it to you. Take that spear now and after that we must return to the battlefield!" said Geriel.

David immediately approached Grhemolus's coffin. He looked at the corpse dressed in his signature armor with an ancient style without a helmet. His face was wrinkled pale white and his hair was still there. At a glance he resembled Marsiel if he were still alive. In his left chest the Grunginus was embedded. Its shape was formed by two spiral helixes tightly coiled, but at the tip the spiral slightly widened followed by a blade that looked split into two.

When holding the spear, David felt a shock and small red electricity appeared momentarily in both of his hands. He immediately pulled out the spear.

A faint thunder sound was heard from the surface. David kept lifting the spear little by little until it was completely pulled out from Ghremolus's chest. Instantly the flesh corpse turned into ashes leaving only the skeleton.

David observed the Grunginus that had now become his.

"The reason why Grhemolus was able to endure while fighting Azkerath is because with the power of Marsiel's blood within him and the spear made from this planet's core stone, he can move very quickly, is able to lock his enemies with his magic and can temporarily protect himself and those around him by summoning an impenetrable magic shield..." explained Geriel.

Suddenly the Grunginus emitted its red light, red electricity also filled the spear. David seemed to endure pain while continuing to hold Grunginus with both his hands until trembling.

The faint thunder sound grew louder. Geriel looked worried about what would happen to David.

Unexpectedly, at the other end of the spear, a new blade formed exactly the same as the previous one. After the energy in the spear subsided, they realized that Grunginus had transformed into a double-bladed spear.

"I-I truly cannot believe this...!!! Grunginus is truly alive because of Ghremolus's blood that is still embedded... and responds to you who already possess Marsiel's soul and power..." said Geriel with a shocked expression.

David immediately held his new Grunginus with his right hand and approached Geriel.

"Let's return there again..." he said in a flat tone.

They walked quickly to return to the main door. But when they came out, they were surprised by the presence of a giant lion the size of an adult elephant in the temple yard.

"G-Greslan??? Y-You know our presence here???" said Geriel who was still shocked by the series of unexpected events.

David remained silent while staring at Greslan's face. He then walked forward approaching him.

Suddenly Greslan immediately knelt and lowered his head before David. Geriel's eyes widened, his mouth gaped.

"My lord... Forgive me if I mistook you for Lord Marsiel. Now he is gone and has entrusted all of his soul and body to you, my new lord. I will help you win this war..."

Greslan spoke with the tone of a dignified middle-aged man. Then he raised his head facing David.

"My lord, climb onto my shoulder now! We must go to the battlefield immediately! Your man is in great danger!"

David's expression immediately changed to shock and anger. He immediately jumped onto Greslan.

"I will follow you later... Win this battle!" said Geriel.

Greslan stood up and ran leaving the temple. David who was still holding Grunginus sat on his shoulder. Greslan's running speed was extraordinary, he could run approximately matching the speed of sound. Even though Greslan ran through the city, strangely no harmful effects occurred in the surrounding area. Leaves on trees, objects not rooted to the ground and building glass remained in their intact positions.

When they reached the edge of the city, Greslan immediately jumped far higher than the tallest building in the capital. David felt Greslan descending slowly as if flying. In mid-air, Greslan then roared loudly across the land. After landing, they were running across wide grasslands and trees.

Greslan slowed his running speed. Suddenly from the left and right sides, David saw a massive group of lions smaller than Greslan running following him.

"I have called my kin to help the warriors of this planet!"

He then increased his speed again. After a while, they approached the battlefield. Greslan brought David to where the people he knew were gathered.

At a place, Gruzhnil and Mendicore were gathered and remained silent watching Grelmure who was sitting, crying loudly and repeatedly calling Johann's name. Glynpatra also cried while holding Grelmure's hand.

"W-What s-should I s-say to S-Sir Hellraider a-about J-Johann's fate...???" said Gruzhnil trembling while holding back tears.

"S-sorry c-commander... I d-don't know w-what to s-say anymore... H-he said... they w-wanted J-Johann..." replied Mendicore trembling as well.

"I-I failed to p-protect m-my troops... Almost h-half of m-my troops have b-been annihilated..."

Tears began to fall down Gruzhnil's cheeks.

Suddenly they were startled by a loud roar that seemed to fill the battlefield. Grelmure's crying immediately stopped and he stood up looking at the source of the sound.

"T-this... This is Greslan's voice that I once heard...!!!"

Everyone was shocked beyond belief. Mendicore wondered what Greslan would do coming here.

Not long after, from behind they saw the giant black lion running slowly toward them. Everyone froze in silence, even Glynpatra hid behind Gruzhnil while slightly peeking.

When it became clear, they were shocked again because it was not only him, but also David clearly riding Greslan. When he stopped near them, David immediately jumped down and walked to them. Gruzhnil gaped again seeing the transformed Grunginus held by David.

Gruzhnil immediately knelt. As if they had just realized who had come, the others also knelt before David and Greslan. David approached them all.

"Where's Johann???"

Gruzhnil immediately stood up.

"M-my Lord... about Johann... i-it... it is..."

David became angry again and breathed heavily. Suddenly Glynpatra burst into tears again.

"L-Lord Hellraider...!!! P-please s-save J-Johann...!!! He has b-been swallowed by that demon king...!!! We b-believe he is still alive inside it...!!!"

"My Lord, Azkerath is still standing far over there... It seems he is already waiting for your arrival..." said Mendicore.

David whose anger peaked immediately turned around and jumped onto Greslan's shoulder again.

"I will bring Johann!!!"

Gruzhnil, Grelmure and Glynpatra immediately smiled. Greslan immediately leaped far leaving them and entered the battlefield.

Shortly after, they were greeted by a massive group of Groths also following Greslan into the battlefield. They fell silent again, processing this series of extraordinary events.

"We must not stay idle! We must help the others as best as we can!" said Gruzhnil. Grelmure, Mendicore and Glynpatra nodded and began doing something else.

Entering the battle area, David and Greslan were greeted by a horde of monsters ahead. Those monsters immediately attacked them. Greslan roared loudly. As he roared, yellow light came out from his mouth and created a shockwave that spread rapidly forward. When the monsters were hit by the shockwave, their bodies instantly disintegrated into yellowish dust.

David saw the path ahead open wide. On his left and right, all remaining The Graendall troops, now assisted by the Groth legion and High Heaven armada, were still trying to eliminate the monsters continuously coming from the portals.

Greslan immediately ran forward. After a while, another horde of monsters appeared in front of them.

"My lord, you are now close to that demon king. I can only take you this far. Face him! Save your man, my lord!"

David gripped his Grunginus tightly. Then his left hand raised, clenched and began to glow with reddish light accompanied by sparks surrounding it. Moments later, David stood and jumped off Greslan's shoulder. In front of him at quite a distance there was an Arch-Judgementor.

David immediately threw his left hand toward the giant monster. Suddenly red energy shot out from his left hand and struck the Arch-Judgementor very quickly. The effect was that the monster's entire body could not move at all because it was covered by red electrical energy.

Not stopping there, David who was still floating in the air with residual energy in his left hand immediately pulled it and suddenly his whole body disappeared by teleporting, leaving red sparks.

David immediately reappeared on the forehead of the still stunned Arch-Judgementor. Before his feet even landed, he teleported again.

This time David appeared higher above it. His position already holding Grunginus with both hands raised straight toward the monster's head. Both spearheads were blazing. David immediately descended very fast and struck the Arch-Judgementor's head very hard creating a shockwave accompanied by red lightning.

Most of the giant monster's head shattered and it collapsed instantly. David landed smoothly on the back of the monster's corpse.

He then looked toward where Azkerath was, where there were still hordes of monsters between them that David had to eliminate to save Johann.
