Chapter 89 - Chapter 89 --Entering the Ruins

After the four Automaton Race Undying exited the spaceship, one of them waved a hand and stored it away.

Guided by the resonance of the jade sword, the four plunged directly into the Storm Sea. After descending more than ten thousand kilometers, a vast cave slowly emerged before their eyes—its outline faintly illuminated by a dim, ancient glow.

The four Undying slowed their advance, vigilance rising instinctively. Even so, at the Undying level, their speed remained terrifying. In the blink of an eye, they arrived at the cave entrance.

One of them raised an arm. Dozens of mechanical puppets detached from his body and shot forward, slipping into the cave like silver shadows. The four Undying followed at a measured distance, allowing the puppets to scout ahead.

The underground passage stretched endlessly, extending for over a hundred thousand kilometers. No traps were triggered, no ambushes revealed themselves. Eventually, the passage opened into an enormous subterranean space.

The underground chamber was vast and austere, devoid of ornamentation. At its center stood a colossal altar more than thirty kilometers in diameter, its surface carved with incomprehensibly complex secret patterns that pulsed faintly, exuding an ancient and solemn aura.

By the time the Automaton Race Undying reached the chamber, the mechanical puppets had already completed a preliminary scan. Streams of data flowed instantly through their shared network, analyzed at terrifying speed.

"Master," the Undying controlling the puppets reported, "someone has been here before us. There are traces of Undying divine power attacks."

"Oh?" The dragon-headed Automaton Race Undying narrowed his eyes. "Were we preempted?"

"Unlikely, Master. Please observe."

At his command, several puppets advanced toward the altar—but were abruptly halted by an invisible energy barrier several kilometers away. A translucent light screen shimmered into view, blocking their path.

"This is a protective shield unique to the Lian Xing Clan," the Undying continued. "We have no efficient method to dismantle it. It can only be breached through overwhelming force or by slowly draining its energy."

The dragon-headed Automaton Race Undying nodded. "So if the shield remains intact, it means the others haven't entered."

"Yes, Master."

A low laugh escaped his throat. "Then fortune favors me today. Unopened Lian Xing ruins… there will be no shortage of treasures. Spielberg—break the shield."

"Yes."

The Automaton Race Undying named Spielberg deployed more units. In moments, a mechanical army of one thousand puppets formed ranks. Under his unified control, they raised their weapons in perfect synchronization.

Brilliant lightning erupted.

A thousand beams converged into a single destructive torrent, slamming into one point on the protective shield. Ripples spread violently across the barrier. After three seconds of sustained bombardment, the targeted area finally ruptured, lightning spearing through the opening and striking the altar beyond.

The attack ceased instantly.

As expected, the damaged section of the shield began repairing itself at a visible rate, sealing the breach within moments.

The dragon-headed Automaton Race Undying calculated rapidly. "Deploy two thousand more units. After breaking through, spread the attack outward and keep the shield from regenerating."

Within moments, a three-thousand-puppet army stood ready.

Lightning roared once more. The shield ruptured again, and this time the assault expanded outward, suppressing the barrier's regenerative capacity. The opening rapidly widened to dozens of meters.

Satisfied, the dragon-headed Undying gave a short nod. "Spielberg stays outside. Guard the entrance. No one else is to enter."

"Yes, Master."

Hierarchy within the Automaton Race was absolute. Orders were executed without hesitation.

At a precise moment, the puppets halted their attack. The dragon-headed Undying and two companions flashed forward, slipping through the opening before the shield could fully recover.

Outside, Spielberg immediately reorganized the defenses—deploying hidden detectors throughout the cave and repositioning the mechanical army. Anyone attempting to enter would be greeted with a pre-charged annihilation strike.

Inside the chamber, Morris—the dragon-headed Automaton Race Undying—led the other two onto the altar. The material beneath their feet was strange and unyielding; even the earlier lightning strike had left no mark.

Mechanical puppets circled the altar once more. No reaction followed.

Only then did the three Undying step fully onto the altar.

Morris retrieved the jade sword from his space ring. As soon as it appeared, it trembled lightly, then floated from his palm, drifting toward the altar's center. The three followed closely.

Before their eyes, the jade sword aligned itself and sank smoothly into a small opening at the altar's core.

The altar shuddered.

Secret patterns flared to life, glowing in layered sequences. A surge of ancient power rippled outward. Morris placed his hand on the sword's hilt—and a flood of information poured directly into his consciousness.

The altar itself was merely a gateway.

By inputting sufficient energy, it would teleport those upon it into the true interior of the ruins.

Without hesitation, Morris injected Undying divine power. The altar blazed. Space twisted violently.

In the next instant, all three Automaton Race Undying vanished from the chamber.

One month later, another group arrived at the same reef island, guided by the resonance of a similar jade sword.

During their exploration, they clashed with the Automaton Race Undying stationed outside.

When this new group advanced into the cave passage, Spielberg sensed them instantly. The mechanical army unleashed a long-charged attack, detonating within the confined tunnel.

With nowhere to evade, the intruders endured the full force head-on.

At the critical moment, a massive true body emerged from a world ring—revealing a Monster Race Undying. Its enormous physique absorbed the brunt of the blast.

The tide reversed.

Outnumbered and caught off guard, the Automaton Race defenders were swiftly surrounded and annihilated.

Meanwhile, Bai Yue and his group were still en route.

Within the inner region of the Ninth Battlefield, Dark Universe travel was impossible. Their law comprehension was insufficient for instantaneous movement, leaving them reliant on conventional flight.

Their spaceship could not exceed light speed. Any attempt to do so would collide with an invisible barrier, as if slamming into an unseen wall.

Even so, traveling at light speed was astonishingly fast. It would take roughly half a year to reach the ruins.

Half a year was insignificant—to Bai Yue, and even more so to Undying beings with near-infinite lifespans.

As the spaceship cut through the starry void, everyone maintained a fraction of their consciousness on alert, while the majority was immersed in cultivation and law comprehension.

In this steady, disciplined rhythm, they crossed vast distances—drawing ever closer to the long-buried Star Refining Ruins.
