Guiding is the use of a Guide's energy to enter an Esper's body, transport it, and smooth out that flow of energy, preventing chaotic energy currents from causing harm to the Esper and even threatening their life.
The higher an Esper's rank, the more often and regularly they need Guiding from a highly compatible Guide. For Esper rank S and above, compatibility requirements become even stricter, and most Esper rank SS cannot live more than 10 years after awakening if they do not find their Fate Guide.
