Background:

A Vulpix Egg that accidentally drifted to Ice Island in the Orange Archipelago. Influenced by the island's environment, it underwent a mutation and ultimately developed into an Alolan Form.

Likes: Snow and icy environments.

Looking at the identical status screens of the two Alolan Vulpix, Aiden immediately became interested.

"Lorelei, do you want one?"

"If you do, we can each take one."

"If not, I'm keeping both."

Clearly, the two Alolan Vulpix were twins.

Perhaps there had originally been more Vulpix Eggs.

Only these two survived.

During the struggle for survival, they adapted and evolved.

Otherwise—

Ordinary Fire-type Vulpix would never have survived on Ice Island.

Hearing Aiden's suggestion, Lorelei immediately became interested.

Or rather—

She was interested in every Ice-type Pokémon.

If she had been strong enough, she would have wanted to capture the Ice God itself.

Unfortunately, the Legendary Birds were far too powerful.

Otherwise, Aiden would never have had the chance to capture Articuno first.

The two white foxes looked at each other.

Although they could sense the tremendous strength of the humans before them, neither showed any fear.

Instead, they lowered their bodies and entered battle stances.

Tiny growls escaped their mouths.

"Very good."

"Then let's battle."

"Porygon, you're up."

"Use Tri Attack!"

The Alolan Vulpix were simply too weak.

As a result, Aiden chose Porygon, whose strength was only at the Elite level.

Meanwhile, Lorelei sent out the Glaceon she had just captured.

The two battles began simultaneously.

As Tri Attack shot forward, the Alolan Vulpix displayed remarkable agility.

With a leap, it dodged the attack.

Immediately afterward, it opened its mouth and fired a barrage of Ice Shard attacks.

Chunks of ice flew through the air.

Porygon floated calmly forward.

Then—

A powerful gravitational field suddenly appeared.

Gravity.

The surrounding space became heavier.

The Alolan Vulpix instantly felt tremendous pressure pressing down on its body.

Its movements slowed dramatically.

Unable to dodge in time—

Tri Attack struck directly.

Boom!

The little fox was blasted backward and tumbled through the snow.

Taking advantage of the opening, Aiden immediately threw a Luxury Ball.

The ball struck the Alolan Vulpix.

Red light flashed.

One shake.

Two shakes.

Click.

Capture successful.

"Ding!"

"Congratulations! You have captured Vulpix (Alolan Form)!"

At nearly the same moment, Lorelei also succeeded in capturing the other Alolan Vulpix.

The two exchanged glances.

Then looked at their newly captured Pokémon.

A subtle thought surfaced in Lorelei's heart.

Perhaps—

These two Alolan Vulpix would become a special bond between her and Aiden.

A small symbol of their relationship.

...

That night, the pair remained on Ice Island.

Using its ice powers, Glaceon created a beautiful ice house.

Aiden and Lorelei settled inside.

Dinner consisted of berries from the System Space and seafood gathered from the ocean.

With Aiden's psychic abilities assisting him, obtaining ingredients was effortless.

Crabs.

Lobsters.

Abalone.

Everything one could want.

The meal was both luxurious and balanced.

After dinner, the two rested together.

Late that night—

Aiden suddenly sensed something unusual.

He immediately woke Lorelei.

The two hurried toward the summit of Ice Island.

Then—

They witnessed an astonishing sight.

Blue crystal-like light filled the night sky.

Three Articuno descended from the heavens together.

They had answered the summons of their clan leader—

The Ice God.

After sensing the aura of its descendants, Articuno carefully examined the three newcomers.

In the end, it selected the largest and strongest among them.

The chosen Articuno possessed the greatest potential.

"You will protect Ice Island from now on."

After speaking, the Ice God let out a powerful cry.

Its immense ice power erupted.

Thick white mist instantly covered the entire island.

Without Aiden's psychic powers, ordinary people would have been completely unable to see through it.

Watching everything unfold, Lorelei couldn't help but feel amazed.

"So there are actually this many Articuno in the world..."

"Then perhaps one day..."

"I might be able to obtain one myself."

The thought quietly took root in her heart.

She resolved to become even stronger.

After choosing its successor, the Ice God explained the responsibilities of the Ice Deity.

How to maintain the balance of the islands.

How to preserve the climate.

How to protect the ecosystem.

Only after everything had been handed over did it return to Aiden.

"Everything has been settled."

"I can leave with you now."

Aiden nodded.

Using his psychic powers, he examined the three Articuno.

All three were around Level 80.

The newly chosen Ice God was the strongest.

Level 85.

And after inheriting the divine position of Ice God, its strength would continue increasing over time.

Just as the Articuno Aiden had captured once did.

The next morning, shortly after sunrise, Aiden and Lorelei boarded Kyogre once more.

Their Orange Islands journey continued.

Their next destination—

Pinkan Island.

A protected Pokémon sanctuary guarded by Officer Jenny.

Its purpose was to prevent poachers from illegally capturing Pokémon.

Pinkan Island was famous for a unique fruit.

The Pinkan Berry.

Pokémon that consumed the berries over long periods gradually turned pink.

"So the pink Pokémon aren't actually special?"

"They simply changed color after eating Pinkan Berries for years?"

Aiden asked.

Lorelei smiled and nodded.

"Exactly."

"They aren't fundamentally different from normal Pokémon."

"Most people visit for sightseeing."

"The Pokémon there have lived peacefully for generations."

"They've lost much of their wild instincts."

"And without strong fighting spirits, they're generally poor choices for competitive trainers."

Aiden nodded in understanding.

Still—

Since they were already visiting Pinkan Island, he certainly intended to take a look.

Whether he decided to capture any pink Pokémon would be another matter entirely.

Half a day later—

Kyogre finally arrived at Pinkan Island.

After completing the necessary registration procedures, Aiden and Lorelei checked into the Pokémon Center.

This time—

A luxurious suite.

After spending so many days traveling outdoors, sleeping on islands and at sea—

The sight of a large, comfortable bed was incredibly tempting.
