1 year has passed since I met Léa and Gabrielle, and although Léa thinks I'm a bit strange, we kind of became a family even if dysfunctional. Léa is very intelligent and during the last year she learned to read and write, so now she teaches her sister.
As I start to cover my body before leaving the room, Léa approaches me:
-"Brother, I know you said you have sensitive skin against the sun, but don't you get hot in all those clothes?" Léa asks curiously.
-"No, besides, I'm already used to it," says Kael.
As soon as I finish covering myself, I take Gabrielle's hand and we head to the street together with Léa.
When we arrive at the street, I buy something for the girls, and the owner of the small stall only charges the price of one due to happiness. He then tells me that Carlos VII has been crowned King. That explains the large movement in the city and the joy.
Some people start to become suspicious of my appearance and strange habits, some rumors even saying that I could be an English spy, even though most people ignore it, it is already time for me to leave. As I think about this, I look at Léa and Gabrielle not knowing what to do, sadness fills my mind, but also conviction.
As soon as we finish the walk around the city, we return to the inn, in the room I approach Léa.
-"Léa, come on here!" Kael says in a low and calm tone.
-"Yes, brother?" Léa asks with a smile.
-"It is time, I must continue my journey!" Kael says as he looks into Léa's eyes, who upon hearing the words begins to tear up.
-"But, b-but I, we… don't go away, brother!" Léa says as she starts to cry.
Gabrielle, who was playing with a doll on the bed, sees her sister crying and, even without understanding what is happening, also starts to cry.
-"Calm down, Léa!" says Kael while hugging Léa. "I wanted to ask if you want to come with me, but you have to understand that it can be dangerous!"
-"Why didn't you say that right away, idiot!" says Léa while wiping her eyes and hiding her red face. ---"Of course we'll go, we are family."
-"Yes, we are family!" says Kael with a slight smile.
From that day on I began to make preparations, although I do not have many needs, the same cannot be said for Léa and Gabrielle, after all, they are human.
As soon as I finished the preparations I began my journey, with no destination or purpose, but this time not alone.
During the trip I began to teach Léa the basics of hunting and fighting, Gabrielle is still too young to learn.
-"Do you see these footprints? The ground around here is dry, which means they are not recent, but these here that go in the opposite direction, the ground is soft," says Kael.
-"If it's soft, that means the deer is nearby, right?" says Léa quietly.
-"Exactly, probably near the river in front of us, resting or drinking water because of the heat," says Kael.
When we approach the river we see the deer; since Léa still doesn't have the strength to handle the bow, I tell her to stay with her sister. While I pull the bowstring, I start to think about how easy it would be to simply appear in front of the deer and kill it instantly; however, the bow also brings me good memories.
As soon as I kill the deer, we approach the carcass. Gabrielle starts saying that the deer is sleeping and asks it to wake up, which makes me let out a small laugh. When I prepare to take the deer that will serve as food for the girls in the coming days, I hear many sounds of footsteps approaching.
-"Look what we have here, our dinner hahaha," says the gang leader.
-"Look, leader, he has two girls behind him, they might give some money!" says one of the thugs.
Due to the year they spent with Kael, Léa and Gabrielle no longer have the malnourished and dirty appearance they once had.
-"Yes, they should give some good silver coins, and if some noble is interested, who knows, maybe even gold!" says the gang leader, starting to laugh.
As I look at them, an uncontrollable rage begins to take over my mind, my body instinctively starts leaning forward as if a predator about to be released among a group of hyenas.
-"Leave the deer and the girls, there are more than 30 of us, it would be a shame for you to lose your life over some sluts and a deer hahaha," says the bandit leader.
Léa grabs Gabrielle and hides behind Kael.
-"Léa, cover your sister's eyes and close your own!" Kael says to Léa in an almost grotesque voice as if spat out by an animal.
I can feel everything in me being consumed until only anger and hatred remain. As soon as the leader takes a step forward I disappear and appear in front of him, he is the first. I grab his head with both hands and press his eyes inwards with just the force necessary to make him suffer without killing him. While he stands screaming on the ground blind I turn to the others, one by one I kill them all, ripping off arms, legs or anything I touch, a massacre.
Without me noticing, Lea now has her eyes open as she watches me tear apart the last bandits and head towards the leader.
The leader is screaming on the ground as I approach him and whisper in his ear.
-"What exactly are you going to do?" Kael asks angrily.
-"Monster, you are a monster, go away, no, I cannot die!" says the bandit leader as he screams and turns his head in all directions.
-"Disgusting!" says Kael as he grabs the bandit leader head and rips it off.
As soon as I kill everyone my anger starts to clear and I look in the direction of Leah and Gabrielle and see her eyes fixed on me. Due to the fighting, what covered my head had fallen off and my white hair was now stained red. I look at Lea and the harsh reality pierces my chest, she has now seen my true nature and will look at me as everyone has always looked, like a monster.
Léa's point of view
Brother Kael is killing all the bandits, but the way he moves, his strength, and the way he tears them apart as if they were nothing, what is he? Without understanding what is in front of me, I unconsciously start to feel fear at what I see ahead and hold Gabrielle, who still has her eyes covered, even tighter. As soon as my brother kills the bandit leader, tearing off his head with the ease of a common act, he looks at me, and his eyes, which until now were so frightening, brighten. Then I see the pain, not the pain of being hurt, but the pain in the gaze he saw in me. What did I think? What do you mean what is he? He is my older brother, my family, not a monster.
I turn my gaze to him when the clouds covering the sky let a ray of sun escape that hits his body and starts to shine as if small diamonds were embedded in his skin.
"How beautiful," Léa says while looking at Kael.
How can something like this be a monster? Maybe an angel, our guardian angel.
I let go of Gabrielle and start running towards my brother, who now begins to head alone into the forest, and I hug him from behind.
-"We are family, aren't we, brother?" Léa says with tears in her eyes, not from fear but disgusted with her own inner thoughts.
-"Yes, we are," says Kael.
