A servant hurried forward to pull back Liora's chair, but Thessian quietly shook his head. "I'll do it." The servant immediately stepped aside, and with practiced care Thessian slipped one arm beneath Liora's knees and the other around her back before lifting her effortlessly from the wheelchair.
His movements remained slow and steady, mindful of every bandage and every healing bone, until he had settled her comfortably into the cushioned chair at the table.
Only after making certain she was sitting comfortably did he move away. Liora watched him curiously as he crossed toward a nearby cabinet. "What are you looking for?"
He didn't answer immediately. Instead, he returned carrying a shallow porcelain basin filled with warm water, a freshly folded white towel draped neatly over one arm, soft enough that it looked as though it had never been used. He placed the basin carefully upon the table before kneeling beside her chair.
Liora blinked. "What are you doing?"
"Dinner."
