Marcus, who had been walking a respectful distance behind them alongside Devon, glanced toward the small gathering. "It looks like they've lost something."
Before anyone could move, a small wooden ball came rolling across the square, bouncing unevenly over the stone pavement before stopping directly beside Liora's wheelchair.
One little boy burst out of the crowd chasing after it so quickly that he failed to notice the wheelchair until the last second, and he froze, his eyes widening as he stared at Liora for several heartbeats before his face drained of color. "I-I'm sorry, Your Highness!" He bowed so suddenly that he nearly lost his balance. "I wasn't looking where I was going."
Liora couldn't help smiling. "It's all right."
The boy cautiously looked up. "My ball..."
