"The man in the photo," he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper. "Who is he?"
"D. Morgan. That's all I have so far." Liora's voice was cold and clinical again, the manic energy burned out. "But I can find him. I can find out who he is, where he is, what his relationship with Aria really was, and whether he had anything to do with her death."
"Why would you help me with this?"
"I'm not helping you," Liora corrected firmly. "I'm helping myself. If I can prove this was personal, if I can identify the real killer and their actual motivation, then I prove my innocence beyond any doubt. Your feelings about your dead mate are completely irrelevant to my investigation."
She met his eyes directly, and hers were empty of anything resembling sympathy.
