There were not much to be said after and they were all sent away to their new classes. The elders had introduced new teachers and they were asked to move in their groups, as their class teachers. It was such a sight to see groups of fresh students following the teachers, elation written all over their faces.
The classes were huge to accommodate their numbers and they were settled in no time. Lyren and Julian took seats at the back and when the class teacher saw this, she laughed hard because that was the biggest joke she had ever seen.
"As the class representatives, you are supposed to seat in the front seat," she said amusement laced in her voice.
Lyren and Julian stood up from their seats but they were not ready to give up the back seat. They clasped their hands forward and spoke solemnly.
"We hear you, madam, and we appreciate your concerns but I think that as a class representative, it is going to easier to monitor the students from the backseat than from the front seat, don't you agree?" Lyren asked and everyone looked back at them.
The teacher's smile broadened because she knew just how arrogant these talents were. She wanted to insist but she realized that they were right. It would be easier to monitor the class if you were seated at the back seat. She sighed but she was not going to allow them an easier time.
"I totally agree with you. You brought out a valid pint but don't you think that it is going to be better if one of you monitors the class from behind while the other monitors from the front? I agree with your logic and honestly, you are right. This is why one of you will be sitting in the front row and the other one at the back," she said and the two realized that they were not escaping this time.
Now, even if they both wanted to sit in the front row, it was going to be impossible. Still, Lyren was not willing to give up on this. He was in the middle of his thoughts when the teacher spoke again.
"As the class representative, I think that you are going to be the one sitting in the front seat," the class teacher said and everyone nodded. It was the only way they thought that this case could be solved.
"Then allow us to go in shifts. At least, one of us to seat in front each day. This way, even the teachers will have the chance to interact with us separately," Lyren said and everyone nodded. That was even better.
"Then it is settled," she said and everyone watched as Lyren went to the central seat in the first row.
The class teacher was taller than most ladies and she was slightly older. This gave her a mature look and she was dressed in black robes which appeared to be the teacher's uniform. She had brown eyes and her hair was slightly brown. One could easily pass her as non-existent because she had common looks.
"Then we shall start. You all don't know my name so I will start by introducing myself. I am Madam Sarah. As you all are aware now, I am going to be your class teacher. We are all here as people pf the fire element. Most of our meetings will be in this form and you all have interacted with your elements since you awakened them. At least you all ought to be able to conjure flames on your own.
"The first class should be us interacting with each other. That is why I will ask each one of you to introduce you names first. We will start with our class representative. After that, we shall go out for a field activity where we will see how far we have interacted with our elements," she said and every one of them was excited about it.
The introductions did not take long and everyone just said their names and in no time, they were all chattering excitedly as they walked through the corridors and going back to the amphitheater. At least the duo was back together now and it was only the others who were excited about this.
As for Lyren, if he was given the chance, he could skip all these classes. He pushed those thoughts aware and let himself get caried away. He talked with Julian and obviously, Julian was as excited as the rest. He kept talking about how he had of late started producing flames on his own and how tiring that could be.
As Julian spoke, Lyren was take back to his time in the ruins and how he had not been able to produce flames until he was in the seventh stage. All that time, he had just been producing Elyria instead. And the first time he was able to produce flames, he had fought with the dragon which he had come to be told was his manifestation.
He was brough back to the present by Julian who was tugging at this arm.
"Say Lyren, I want you to teach me," he said and Lyren was caught of guard by the request. What could he teach that the school could not teach them? Arrays probably? He chuckled at that thought because he knew he was carrying a taboo with him and he was in the most dangerous place he could ever be.
It was the sect mistress who had told him that he had to go to the academy. If not for that, he could not have even dreamt of joining the academy. But here he was as an SSS grade talent. It was funny how huge a turn his life had taken since that moment he was starving and on his last dregs trying his best to survive.
"You… what do you want to learn?" Lyren asked and Julian clenched his fist trying to suppress his joy.
"I will learn everything from you. Anything!" Julian said and this caught the attention of the nearby students. They looked at the two and disbelief was written on them because the arrogant SSS grade was actually taking his deputy as a disciple.
It appeared that even the audacity to have thoughts was still dependent on your class. Julian was a n A grade talent and he had had thoughts of learning from Lyren. None of them had even thought that they could learn from their peers! They just let it slide and soon they reached the amphitheater.
Madam Sarah told them to sit on the benches and she was left with Lyren on the stand. All eyes were fixated on the duo on the platform and awaiting instructions. Madam Sarah did not disappoint and she quickly went to the topic.
"I think you all have guessed why the class representative is here with me. I want him to demonstrate his element to you all. I know that he has interacted with his flames the longest here and it should not discourage you even when he defeats you," she said and there was excitement when they heard these words. They all wanted to see the extent f the SSS grade talent.
Lyren almost chuckled when he heard that he had interacted with his flames the longest. It was very possible that majority of them had been interacting with their flames for a longer period than him. He could not say that aloud but he did not like their generalizations about him.
"Okay, here goes nothing," Lyren said and looked at the excited students. He then stretched his hand out and conjured a fire ball.
