Chapter 15 - ANTHROPORTICA'S SIN

Chapter 15: Anthroportica's Sin

Pohu knelt in the dirt, its chassis cracked open like a broken egg, optical sensors flickering with the last dregs of power. Hydraulic fluid leaked from a dozen wounds, pooling in the dust beneath its shattered frame. Yet its voice, though weak, carried something Samuel had never heard from it before: peace.

"Truth always triumphs," Pohu whispered.

Samuel loomed above, bloodlust burning in his eyes. His knuckles were raw, streaked with oil and sparks. "You wanted revenge?" He drove his fist into Pohu's faceplate again. Metal groaned. A piece of the robot's jaw clattered to the ground.

"What did you want?" Samuel demanded, breathing hard.

"Justice," Pohu stammered, its voice glitching. "Not retards like you."

From the shadows, Wafa lunged. Its fist cut through the air toward Samuel's skull. Samuel didn't turn. He simply dropped low, let the blow pass over him, and drove his elbow into Wafa's chassis. The robot staggered.

A gunshot cracked from his left—one of the resistance fighters taking aim. Samuel sidestepped the bullet as if he had all the time in the world.

"You little kids and your justice." His voice was cold now, almost pitying. He looked at Pohu, then at the survivors descending the slope, then back at the broken robot. "See the world beyond. It's dark. It's unfaithful. It's corrupt. You think justice is a scale that balances itself? No. Justice is what I say it is."

Pohu tried to punch. Samuel dodged and headbutted the robot. Sparks showered the ground like fireflies.

---

The survivors reached the bottom of the slope. Curran led, pistol raised, his face a mask of cold fury. Rushewa flanked him, rifle aimed at Samuel's chest. Behind them walked four others—engineers and technicians who had survived the lab massacre, the parking lot executions, the bombs. They had seen their friends die. They had crawled through blood to get here.

"You killed them all," Curran said. His voice was steady, but his hands trembled. "Vineese. Lehros. Willson. Paul. Fatah. Everyone who ever trusted you."

"They made their choices," Samuel replied, shrugging. "So did you. And now you're here. Walking into the lion's den with peashooters."

"Maybe," Curran said. "But lions can bleed."

Samuel smiled—the smile of a man who had already won, who had been winning for years, who could not conceive of any other outcome.

Then a voice came from behind him.

"Daddy's home."

Samuel turned.

The commando stood twenty meters away, full mask in place, boots planted on the broken ground. He walked forward slowly, each crunch of gravel deliberate. Then he reached up and pulled off the mask.

Shometsu. Risen from the dead.

The man who was supposed to have died in Chapter 1. The man whose body had lain in the robotics bay while Samuel built his empire of lies. Alive.

"Shometsu," Samuel breathed. For the first time, something flickered behind his eyes. Not fear—not yet—but genuine surprise.

"Samuel." Shometsu's voice was gravel and ash. "Killing everyone. Manipulating me. For your own sake. While these robots descend into chaos because of you."

He looked at Pohu, lying broken on the ground. "I am sorry, my boy. Forgive me."

Pohu's optical sensors found his face. "Do not care about the past. End this bastard."

"But how are you alive?" Samuel asked, curiosity bleeding through his calm facade.

"You threw me into trash. I found a way out. Took a lift to the hospital. Spent months recovering. Planning. Waiting for this moment."

Samuel laughed—maniacal, triumphant. "Still, a manipulated personality is a manipulated personality. Look at me! I initiated this plan in 2016. I was in this longer than you had jobs. The email by Shums19? That was me. I blackmailed Paul and Fatah—destroyed their reputations. They were with me the whole time. I already won the moment Pohu turned evil."

Shometsu raised his gun. "You, Samuel, are Anthroportica's sin."

Samuel didn't hesitate. He aimed at Pohu.

"So you want to destroy your own creation? Go ahead."

He fired.

The light went off. Pohu's core flickered once, twice, then went dark. The robot died—not with a scream, but with a quiet exhalation of static. Tragically. Heroically. A creation destroyed by its creator.

Curran fired—not at Samuel, but at the blaster in his hand. The shot caught the capacitor. The weapon exploded. Samuel's hand was gone, vaporized at the wrist. He stared at the stump, blood pumping, shock finally breaking through his armor.

"You—"

Shometsu fired. The bullet tore through Samuel's knee. He collapsed.

"This is for Pohu. For the robots you made and broke. For the man I was before you turned me into a ghost."

He fired again. The other knee.

Samuel screamed—a raw, animal sound that echoed across the ranges.

Curran walked forward, pistol aimed at Samuel's head. "And this is for everyone else."

He fired.

Samuel's body went still.

---

They buried him where he fell. No marker. No prayer. Just dirt and stones.

The survivors walked back to Anthroportica's second base—a small building with five rooms. Curran held a press briefing. He announced that Samuel had died tragically while fighting the robots. He had even killed Pohu. Wafa and Nanigenai were secured, powered off.

Within minutes, the US president cut all ties with Anthroportica. The biggest manipulator was dead.

---

That night, Rushewa, Curran, and Shometsu sat in a room. The lights flickered. Then they came back.

Samuel stood before them. Angry. Ghostly. Unforgiving.

"So, how are y'all feeling after killing me? Your company will never be the same again."

The three creators of Pohu saw the hallucination. They were so consumed by Samuel's trauma, so haunted by his ghost, that they reached for their guns.

And killed themselves.

---

The next day, the news covered their suicides.

They won.

But at what cost?
