Chapter 399 - Chapter 399: Strike (EC)

"Is it over?"

Looking at the countless clouds of dust splashing around the wall, Caitlyn could not help asking.

Vi, however, did not know how to answer. She looked at her Hextech gauntlet with a strange expression, feeling somewhat surprised.

She could tell that the werewolf clearly could have dodged, but he had forcefully taken her punch head-on.

Gurgle, gurgle.

Just then, a strange sound of liquid injection rang out, as if a large bottle filled with water were constantly being poured out.

The next second, heavy breathing sounded again, as if it contained endless fury.

"Something's wrong."

Vi instantly became cautious and approached the front.

Suddenly, a figure burst out from the smoke and leapt forward with lightning speed, appearing in front of Vi in the blink of an eye.

At the same time, it mercilessly swung its sharp claws.

Vi's reaction was also extremely fast. She immediately raised her Hextech gauntlet to block, but she felt a tremendous force erupt against her and was forced several steps back.

Standing before her was the werewolf. At this moment, his eyes were as red as blood, filled with irrational rage, and his face was incomparably savage.

"Roar!"

The next second, the werewolf roared. The sound was deafening, and the powerful pressure it released made everyone present feel their hearts sink.

Immediately after, he pounced fiercely toward Vi.

Vi did not hesitate. She swung her fist, the punch cutting through the air. But the werewolf dodged at extreme speed, and one sharp claw came slashing over.

"So fast!"

Vi was shocked. Although she had already expected the werewolf's speed to be extraordinary, she had not expected it to be this fast.

She hurriedly raised her other hand and narrowly blocked the strike. After that, she was trapped in the werewolf's frenzied assault.

And on the sturdy pair of Hextech gauntlets, claw marks had already appeared one after another.

"Go!"

Ekko knew they could not just watch anymore. With one command, he directly charged forward with the Firelights.

A fierce battle broke out in an instant. Caitlyn raised her weapon and aimed at the werewolf. But the other party was too fast, and she could not aim for the time being. She could only wait for an opportunity.

Ekko had already rushed close. With a sliding tackle, he directly looped a hook around the werewolf's leg.

At the same time, several other Firelights also threw out hooks, striking different parts of the werewolf's body.

Then they immediately activated their hoverboards and suddenly flew in one direction.

The hoverboards unleashed a considerable pulling force, directly yanking the werewolf backward. His entire body flew into the air. He tried to use his claws to rip those hooks off, only to discover that the hooks had dug into his body and were difficult to pull out.

With a boom, he smashed into a wall and was held there by the constant dragging force.

"Roar!"

The werewolf roared. His claws stabbed viciously into the wall, and he clung there like an insect. The strength erupting from his entire body actually began contending directly against several hoverboards.

As his anger continued to rise, the chemical pump on his back once again injected the emotions it had collected into his body.

"What strength!"

Ekko sensed that something was wrong. He watched as the werewolf directly dragged them down to the ground. The force that erupted from him also made them lose their balance, sending them tumbling from their hoverboards.

At the same time, the hooks were yanked out of their hands. The werewolf directly pulled the hooks from his body, and the extra bloodstains on him made him look even more violent.

Ekko landed on the ground and directly became the werewolf's new target. Those scarlet eyes stared at him.

The next second, the werewolf pounced straight toward him.

At the critical moment, Vi rushed out from the side and punched the werewolf from the flank, blasting him away again.

This time, the werewolf did not even fall to the ground. After landing, he immediately leapt again and launched a stormlike assault.

Claw marks appeared one after another on the walls. Vi barely managed to fight the werewolf. She landed several punches, but they seemed to do nothing to him.

Even when she unleashed the energy of the Hextech gemstones inside the gauntlets, it was the same.

This made her heart sink. Such a powerful creature had appeared in Zaun, and they still could not determine whether he was good or bad. If they did not do everything they could to subdue him tonight, it would probably be hard to find another chance in the future!

While thinking, she charged up another punch and threw it out. A blast of air erupted from the front of her fist and struck the werewolf directly, sending him flying dozens of meters.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Ekko once again joined forces with the Firelights to attack.

They threw tear gas canisters at the werewolf. In the blink of an eye, he was wrapped in smoke, but this did not seem to have any effect.

The werewolf charged out of the smoke, his eyes scarlet. Instead, this made him even more frenzied.

However, Ekko had already prepared. He threw out a pocket watch, accurately wrapping it around the werewolf's neck.

Just as the werewolf reached out to rip the pocket watch off, there was a buzz, and the watch suddenly erupted with intense electricity. Blue currents filled the werewolf's entire body in an instant like sparks.

His body trembled violently. The current lasted a full five seconds before disappearing.

After five seconds, the werewolf fell heavily to the ground, smoke continuously rising from the fur all over his body, and the blood red in his eyes dimmed as well.

"What invention is that?"

Even Vi stared in surprise.

Ekko observed the werewolf. "A new electric watch I researched. It can unleash a powerful current in an instant."

"Impressive." Vi greatly admired Ekko's mind and gave him a thumbs-up. "I always knew you had it in you, little man."

Ekko's face darkened. Just as he was about to speak, he suddenly saw the chemical pump on the werewolf's back shake twice again.

With a new round of emotional injection, blood red lit up in the werewolf's eyes once more. Fury surged within them, tearing apart his reason.

The next second, he exploded from where he stood and pounced toward the closest person, Ekko.

He was even faster, and Ekko, who was closest to him, had no time to dodge at all.

Vi's expression changed drastically, and she lunged forward with all her strength.

Bang!

At the last possible moment, a gunshot rang out. A bullet shot over at even greater speed and struck the werewolf with precision.

The special bullet directly tore open a large wound on the werewolf's shoulder and interrupted his attack, though Ekko was still sent flying.

In the distance, Caitlyn held a specially made sniper rifle, still aiming at the werewolf. Then she pulled the trigger again.

Bang!

Another gunshot rang out. The werewolf seemed to sense it sharply, and as he dodged, another bloody hole appeared in his right shoulder.

Caitlyn maintained steady breathing.

Then the bullet loaded, she aimed, and just as the third bullet was about to fire, the werewolf discovered her.

Those eyes locked onto Caitlyn in the distance in an instant.

Bang!

The third bullet fired, but he dodged it.

At this moment, Vi had also rushed forward. She punched the werewolf directly, then followed with a smooth series of punches, every fist landing.

The pair of Hextech gauntlets was also covered in blood.

However, the next second, the werewolf suddenly opened his bloody maw and bit down directly on her gauntlet.

The tremendous bite force instantly made that gauntlet burst with a current of electricity, and it lost its response as if it had been scrapped.

Vi felt her arm sink. She gritted her teeth and swung her other fist.

However, she had still underestimated the werewolf at this moment. Despite being injured, the werewolf only grew braver the more he fought, and his strength was even greater than before.

In just an instant, she was blasted away, crashing hard into the wall. With a gasp, she spat out a mouthful of blood, and several bones broke at once.

The next second, the werewolf turned his head, locked his gaze onto Caitlyn in the distance, and sprinted straight toward her.

"Caitlyn, run..."

Vi spat out another mouthful of blood and slid down from the wall. No matter how hard she tried, she could not get up.

At this moment, Ekko and the Firelights rushed forward.

But their obstruction was meaningless to the werewolf. With a wave of his hand, he sent several people flying. It seemed that no one could stop this monster who had lost his reason.

Caitlyn's expression was calm, and she did not run. She knew that trying to compete with the werewolf in speed at a time like this would be even more suicidal.

She adjusted her breathing, predicted the werewolf's position, and pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The bullet fired.

But the werewolf sensed it. It merely grazed past his body, leaving only a shallow wound.

Caitlyn exhaled, loaded the next bullet, aimed, and fired again.

Bang!

The fourth gunshot rang out. This time, the werewolf dodged quickly.

And the distance between the two sides was already less than ten meters.

Caitlyn felt that it was too late, but she was going to make one last attempt and still loaded the bullet.

At the same time, the werewolf leapt high, pouncing toward Caitlyn. His sharp claws were about to swing down.

"No!"

Vi shouted desperately from behind. She had once sworn that something like this would never happen again. She would use her gauntlets to protect everyone important to her.

However, when cruel reality happened before her eyes once more, Vi truly realized her own weakness, and that drowning sense of helplessness and despair.

Her desperate shout echoed through the street like a bell ringing at midnight.

The werewolf only felt a stabbing pain in his mind. The claw he had raised ultimately did not fall, and this also kept Caitlyn, who was right in front of him, from firing.

In that instant, she caught the pain and struggle in the werewolf's eyes.

The werewolf landed on the ground. This time, no one stopped him. He quickly left, disappearing into the gray haze in the blink of an eye.

Caitlyn watched that figure vanish with her own eyes, but she suddenly felt something she could not describe.

She had never seen eyes so full of pain.

At this moment, the street was in chaos. Many Firelights had been injured, and several of Vi's bones were directly broken.

Ekko had not suffered any serious injury, but he had still been shaken by the werewolf's terrifying strength.

Caitlyn landed on the street and ran toward Vi. "How bad is it?"

"I won't die." Seeing that she was unharmed, Vi's suspended heart finally settled. Then she gave a bitter smile. "We prepared this many people, yet he still escaped so easily."

"He exceeded our expectations. None of us expected our opponent to be a monster like that."

Caitlyn carefully helped her up. That werewolf was like an unkillable roach.

First, he had taken Vi's full-strength punch. Then, under the repeated attacks from her and the Firelights, he had still managed to unleash such terrifying strength.

In the end, he even took three of her special bullets and somehow still seemed completely fine.

Encountering a monster with that kind of strength was already far beyond anything anyone had expected.

"I miscalculated. I almost put you in danger."

Vi was filled with self-reproach. Although she did not understand why the werewolf had fled, if he had not left, Caitlyn would probably have been in grave danger.

"We miscalculated. Don't talk about that right now. Treating your injuries is more important."

Caitlyn looked at Vi with concern. She carefully supported her, and her own rapidly beating heart was also unable to calm down.

It was true that if the werewolf had not suddenly stopped just now, she would probably be dead.

"Little man, are you all right?"

Vi was still worried about others at a time like this.

Ekko's reply came from not far away. He was taking care of the injured Firelights. "We're fine. No one's too badly hurt."

"Sorry."

Vi sighed, still blaming herself.

"There's nothing to apologize for. What happened today made me realize that we're still not strong enough."

Ekko walked forward. His fists clenched slightly, and unwillingness flashed in his eyes.

He had been too weak. If his inventions had been more useful, this situation would not have happened.

Perhaps Silco's fall had made him too relaxed, making him think that the world was at peace.

In reality, that was not the case. This world still held endless dangers.

At this moment, Ekko's eyes became even more determined.

After going back, he would definitely take his inventions more seriously. At the very least, he wanted to be less helpless in moments like this.

In any case, what happened today was a blow to many people.

No one had expected that with such a huge advantage, they would still be easily crushed by a single werewolf.

"What was that just now?"

Supported by Caitlyn, Vi remembered that scene, the one that had almost made her regret everything for the rest of her life.

Caitlyn knew what she was referring to and shook her head. "I don't know either. He suddenly stopped, then left quickly."

This left everyone greatly puzzled. Judging from the madness and violence the werewolf had shown, he clearly should not have suddenly stopped at that moment.

It seemed to become an unsolved mystery, lingering in everyone's chest, impossible to understand no matter how they thought about it.

But no matter what, the fact remained that the werewolf had spared their lives.

"Could what that girl said be true?"

At this moment, Vi suddenly remembered what the girl had said.

She believed the werewolf was not actually a bad person.

Caitlyn shook her head again and sighed softly. "Now I don't know either. I only remember seeing his eyes. They were filled with pain. At that moment, it was as if my own heart had been stabbed."

Just from one look in his eyes, she had seen boundless pain. It was hard to imagine what that werewolf was enduring.

Inside a seaside cave.

Warwick fell heavily inside. Blood continuously spilled from his body, but compared to the pain in his body, the pain in his heart and mind was even more unbearable.

"No! No! No!"

He howled and roared constantly, as if doing so could drive the pain away.

That girl's desperate cry seemed to keep echoing in his ears, and every sound was like a knife cutting viciously into his heart.

Why was this scene so incomparably familiar?

Why did he always feel as if he had once seen this scene somewhere before?

The same girl, the same desperate sobbing.

At this moment, a gaunt, sunken-eyed face flashed through his mind again.

"Singed!"

Warwick roared and swung his sharp claws with force, instantly crushing a massive stone.

He knew there was a culprit behind all of this.

It was Singed!

He had to find that man. Sooner or later, he had to find him!

It was him who had turned Warwick into this!

Those ruthless, icy words were something he would never forget!

Endless anger once again caused the gathered emotions to be injected through the chemical pump, easing much of the pain in Warwick's body.

And the wounds on his body also began healing at an astonishing speed.
