Chapter 233 - Chapter 233: Evelynn’s Midnight Temptation

As the night deepened, Wrenwall grew utterly quiet beneath the darkness.

Under the curtain of night, a slender figure slowly took shape. The shadows clinging to her body seemed to merge with the night itself. Her skin was unusually delicate and pale, while faint purple light flickered in and out of sight, like lashers trailing behind her.

A pair of eyes that glowed faintly in the darkness stared unblinkingly at the small attic not far away. What flashed within them was the excitement of a hunter who had found desirable prey.

Evelynn remembered that it seemed to have been a very long time since she had last visited this rigid, stale, somewhat boring country.

This place hated foreign magic and cast aside such a mysterious power like an old shoe. Yet laughably enough, they never seemed able to cut themselves off from that power.

In short, this rejection had, to a certain extent, created certain difficulties for her delightful hunts.

So she had carefully selected an excellent seed, along with a portion of believers, and left this place.

Until now, that seed had yet to mature, but someone had removed it early. Two of her subordinates had also lost their lives here.

Evelynn knew it was time for her to come back and take a look. With a clear goal in mind, the first thing she needed to do was find the "candy" from back then.

She had to confirm whether that piece of candy was still as enticing as it had been back then.

However, she had not expected this return to bring her an even greater discovery.

Even from very far away, she had noticed him at a glance, standing out among the crowd.

By comparison, the tempting fruits beside him all seemed a little dim.

Aside from that golden-haired girl who shone so brightly she was almost dazzling, among everyone present, only he awakened the first stirring buried deep in Evelynn's heart.

To this day, she still remembered how she had felt during her first hunt. When her prey's agony reached her heart, it had been so delightful, so exquisitely pleasurable, bringing her a thrill like soaring into the sky.

Unfortunately, afterward, although Evelynn had tasted many delicacies, she had never again found that original flavor.

Every time she thought of it, she felt rather regretful.

But this time, that familiar stirring had returned once more.

At first, Evelynn had not rushed forward eagerly, because she knew that if she did, she would certainly be unable to resist destroying everything.

She had to prepare properly. This time, she had to savor it slowly.

So she rarely displayed patience and waited for several days, until tonight. She believed there would be no more suitable opportunity than this night.

She would taste this man at the very moment he stood at the height of his glory and was admired by thousands.

As for that blond girl, to be honest, there was an odor about her that Evelynn loathed deeply. She hated it so much that even if the girl was delicious, Evelynn did not particularly want to approach her.

At this moment, Evelynn's heart was pounding hard. It fluttered wildly, and when she thought of the beautiful things to come, a blush rose uncontrollably on her face.

She no longer wanted to wait, so she stepped forward, leaping down from high above and landing lightly on the ground.

Then Evelynn walked toward the small attic. With every step she took, her form changed slightly.

The mist coiling around her gradually dispersed and turned into an elegant dark red dress, making her entire bearing appear stunningly beautiful. The lashers behind her also vanished from sight, and her delicate skin changed into the fair complexion of a human.

Her vivid red lips curved upward as she walked forward with light steps.

Knock, knock, knock.

Three knocks sounded especially clear in the night.

As footsteps approached, the door separating the two of them finally opened slowly.

Luke opened the door and saw an absolutely beautiful woman standing behind it. She wore a bright red dress. She had long, pale purple hair, and beneath the dim light was a charming face, her features exquisite and delicate, her complexion like peach blossoms, smooth and full.

A faint blush tinged her cheeks from the cold. Her starry eyes were like rippling water, enough to stir the soul, and her vivid red lips carried a faint smile.

Just standing there, she radiated seductive charm. The faint fragrance emanating from her body even slightly disturbed the mind.

Her figure was also full and curving in all the right places, with a generous bust, a narrow, graceful waist, and rounded hips that gave her silhouette a proud, alluring fullness even her gorgeous red dress could not conceal.

He had to admit that this woman was indeed extremely beautiful, so beautiful that it was almost impossible to look away.

Luke looked at her and asked with a trace of confusion, "And you are?"

"Greetings, Your Highness. I am the eldest daughter of House Fakar, Evelie." Evelynn curtsied slightly, her gentle voice like a jade hand plucking at the strings of the heart.

As she spoke, she raised her head. Her beautiful eyes revealed just the right amount of admiration, shining with moving radiance. "I heard of Your Highness's deeds, so I wanted to admire you up close."

"There really are quite a few women who knock on my door in the middle of the night like you."

After Luke finished with a rather troubled tone, he looked at the woman before him. "Three, two, one. All right, you're done admiring. Goodbye."

After counting down three seconds, Luke left her with those words and directly shut the door.

Looking at the door that had suddenly closed, even Evelynn froze for a moment. A trace of disbelief flashed through her eyes.

She had actually been shut outside just like that?

He really was different from those gaudy, shameless tramps outside!

As this thought flashed through her mind, Evelynn raised her hand again and knocked on the door once more.

Very quickly, the door opened again, revealing Luke's face behind it. He had already begun to frown slightly. "Do you need something else? It's late. Even if there's something, we can talk about it tomorrow. You're a woman, coming to find me in the middle of the night. It isn't good for your reputation."

Hearing this, the blush on Evelynn's jade-like face deepened a little. She lowered her head shyly, her eyes shining with a light that could move any man, and said softly, "I don't mind."

Her posture, along with those words, seemed to unintentionally radiate little hints of ambiguity.

Luke looked at her seriously. "But I mind. So, good night."

After saying that, he rudely shut the door again with a bang.

Evelynn froze once more. Looking at the tightly closed door for the second time, she refused to believe it and raised her hand again, knocking with another knock, knock, knock.

The door opened for the third time, revealing Luke's somewhat impatient expression. "I think I've made myself clear enough, haven't I?"

"I understand what Your Highness means." Evelynn lowered her head weakly, biting her red lips in a way that invited pity. "It's just that I really have admired Your Highness for a long time. Tomorrow, Your Highness will leave, and I thought that if I missed this chance, perhaps I would never have another one. So I truly want to talk with Your Highness a little longer. After tonight, we can act as though nothing ever happened."

She revealed an expression from the heart, without the slightest affectation. Under such genuine emotion, there was probably no man who would not be moved.

Luke was indeed touched. The impatience on his face disappeared, and he looked her over. "Since you admire me so much, are you obedient? I don't like disobedient people."

Evelynn raised her head. Her beautiful eyes gazed at Luke and blinked, and the corners of her mouth revealed a seductive smile. "Of course I am. As long as they are Your Highness's words, I will obey. Whatever Your Highness wants me to do, I can do it."

She guaranteed she could satisfy every pose he could possibly imagine.

Just as a little anticipation finally rose in her heart...

Luke revealed a gentle smile. "Then be good, okay? Head back early and sleep. Anything you want to say can wait until tomorrow."

Evelynn: "?"

With a bang, looking at the door closing for the third time, Evelynn could not help breathing a little harder, and her fists unconsciously clenched.

Damn it, she had hinted this clearly. Did this man really not understand?

Three times!

She, the great Evelynn, had actually been shut outside three times.

That was the part she could not tolerate the most.

The charm she had released just now truly had not been strong, but this gorgeous appearance alone should have been enough to lure someone in. How could anyone possibly ignore her?

However, if it was this man, then being a little special was normal.

Evelynn felt that she could not play by the usual routine anymore, so she stepped away and left the place.

However, after deliberately waiting for a while, she returned once more.

Knock, knock, knock.

This time, the knocking was a little light, as if she had hesitated for a long time.

The door opened again, revealing Luke's impatient face.

However, before he could speak this time, Evelynn lifted her watery eyes and looked at Luke with a pitiful, fragile gaze. Tear tracks clung to the corners of her eyes, enough to make one's heart ache. "I know I shouldn't disturb Your Highness again, but the night is too dark, and I accidentally twisted my ankle. It's so cold outside. Could Your Highness let me come in and rest for a while? Once it stops hurting so much, I'll leave."

As she spoke, she raised the hem of her long dress slightly.

"Come in first."

Seeing this, Luke had no choice but to step aside.

Evelynn held onto the door and hopped clumsily into the room. Her delicate and weak appearance seemed especially helpless at this moment.

She looked ahead, and a trace of speechlessness flashed through her eyes.

Any man would choose to support her at a time like this, right?

But this guy had just walked off on his own?

However, when Luke stopped in front of a bundle and began rummaging through it, Evelynn suddenly realized that it seemed she had misunderstood him a little.

"Sit on the bed. Applying some medicine will make it heal faster."

Luke turned around and spoke.

Evelynn moved over to the bed, then obediently sat down. Seeing Luke hand over the medicine bottle, she lowered her head slightly and thanked him. "Thank you, Your Highness."

Luke smiled faintly and said nothing. He walked toward the desk and lit the candle on it.

The room immediately brightened. Under the firelight, Evelynn's stunning face looked even more moving.

He turned his back to her and sat down.

Evelynn glanced at his back and bit her lip. Then she took off her shoe and placed her twisted foot on the bed.

She opened the medicine bottle and smeared some onto her ankle. Immediately, she let out a muffled groan, tears welling in the corners of her eyes from the pain. Then she called softly, "Your Highness."

Luke turned around and looked at her. "What's wrong?"

"I'm a little afraid of pain. I can't bring myself to apply it properly. Could you help me?" Evelynn lowered her head and said shyly, as if it were difficult to ask.

The jade-like foot she had placed on the bed glowed with a smooth, delicate sheen. Setting aside the red, slightly swollen ankle, her entire small foot was soft, plump, and glossy, extremely exquisite, with lines that were especially beautiful, making it look both delicate and pleasing.

Above this beautiful foot was the raised hem of her long dress. Her smooth calf had not a trace of excess fat, and where it reached her knee, it revealed a hint of full thigh, making it look as if she were wearing nothing but that dress.

The empty space beneath the middle of the skirt naturally invited imagination.

Seeing the man's gaze look over, Evelynn refused to believe that this still would not be enough to take him down.

Ordinary prey would never require so much effort from her. Usually, when they saw her appearance, they had already been unable to pull themselves away.

But Luke was different, so Evelynn had extraordinary patience for him too.

Luke took a glance, then nodded. "Sure. Wait a moment."

Then, under Evelynn's stunned gaze, he slowly put on a pair of gloves and a mask before sitting on the bed and taking the medicine bottle.

Evelynn could not help asking, "Your Highness, what is this...?"

"Oh, I don't mean to look down on you. I'm just a little particular about cleanliness." Luke looked at her and gave her a look that said not to misunderstand, then continued, "I heard some people's feet stink terribly, and it can even spread, so I'm taking a few precautions."

Evelynn: "..."

She now had an impulse to hit someone.

But in order not to break character, she could only say pitifully and aggrievedly, "But my feet don't stink at all. They even have a faint fragrance. If you don't believe me, Your Highness, you can..."

Before she could finish, she saw Luke make a disgusted expression. "So you often smell your own feet?"

Evelynn: "..."

Patience.

Patience.

Patience.

She repeated the word three times in her heart.

As an excellent hunter, no matter what situation she faced, she had to maintain enough patience.

Almost losing control, she calmed her emotions, pouted, and said, "No, it's just that I can often smell the fragrance from my feet."

Luke laughed. "There's only one situation where I'd think feet smell good."

Evelynn could not help asking curiously, "What is it?"

"Braised pig's feet."

"..."

Evelynn pulled out a strained smile. "That is indeed quite fragrant."

Endure, endure, endure!

She felt as if all the times she had been speechless since birth had been used up today.

Why?

Why was this guy before her different from the rigid Demacians she understood?

Wasn't his thinking a little too erratic?

Since he could jump around this well, he should stop jumping next time.

After thinking for a moment, she changed the topic. "Your Highness, help me apply the medicine."

"Sure." Luke nodded, poured the ointment onto his hand, and said, "I'll count three, two, one, then apply it. Get ready."

"Mm."

Evelynn nodded.

"Three." As Luke spoke, he directly lowered his hand and smeared the ointment onto the red, swollen part of her ankle.

Evelynn reacted for a moment before letting out a cry of pain. "Ah."

Luke raised his head and looked at her strangely. "Isn't your reaction time a little long?"

"It was a little too sudden." Evelynn laughed awkwardly, then looked at Luke with a resentful gaze. "And Your Highness didn't even count to one. I wasn't mentally prepared."

"All right." Luke nodded and said, "The swelling isn't serious. It should only be acute. Once the ointment has been on for a while, it should heal."
