Suddenly, he sharply raised his head and stood up, a frantic fire burning in his eyes: "Negotiation?"
"Negotiate with that bastard?"
He abruptly stood up and pointed at Brynden's nose, cursing angrily.
"If I hadn't sent five hundred soldiers to Seaguard! To guard that damned coast for Hoster! To obey your commands! How could Willow Wood City be so empty?!!!"
"How could my castle have so few people defending it?!!!"
His voice grew higher and higher, filled with accusations like blood and tears.
"How could that venomous snake, flowing downstream, seize my castle in three days?"
His chest heaved violently, his face flushed, and the last sentence was almost a roar.
"How could my son die?!"
He violently waved his hand, knocking over a nearby candelabra.
"For the peace of the Riverlands! I sent out my soldiers!!"
"But you were comfortably watching the show in Riverrun!"
"Now, my outer keep is occupied! My son is dead!"
"And you come here to tell me to negotiate with the murderer who killed my son?!"
Brynden showed no displeasure at Roger Lygg's disrespect towards his elder brother. He merely spoke slowly: "Your son died on the battlefield, and he demolished a noble's family castle and desecrated his ancestors."
Roger Lygg let out a strange laugh: "Well done! My son! If it were me!! I would do the same!! If I had the chance!! I would also kill all his subjects!"
He pointed at Brynden, then at Robin Lygg, and finally towards the door, as if accusing the entire world.
"It was your House Tully that killed my son!"
"And the Frey Family! If they hadn't incited it! How would I have done that! You are all cowards! A bunch of cowards who only scheme behind backs!"
"If it weren't for them! These dirty, despicable rats!!"
His chest heaved violently, like a wild beast trapped in a cage.
"As for that Arthur!"
He gnashed his teeth, every word seemingly squeezed from between them.
"I, Roger Lygg, will never negotiate with him!"
"Only death can end all of this!"
His eyes gleamed with destructive light.
"Either he dies! Or I die!"
Brynden Tully listened quietly, his patience slowly wearing thin. He had seen countless stubborn nobles, but none as unreasonable as Roger Lygg; he was truly insane and said nothing more.
Robin Lygg tried one last effort: "Calm down, Roger Lygg."
"Look at what you have left now? Less than a hundred starving, exhausted soldiers."
"How many men does Arthur's army have? A thousand, and their morale is high."
"Negotiation is your only way out; there is still a chance for everything."
Roger Lygg seemed to have heard the funniest joke in the world. He let out a hysterical cackle, his laughter echoing in the messy room,
sounding chilling.
"Let him come kill me! Let him come with his army! I will wait for him on the city walls!"
"My Legge Family has ruled this land since the time of the First Men, with noble blood!"
"I would rather die standing than negotiate with him!"
He suddenly drew the longsword from his waist, its tip pointing directly at the door.
"Get out!"
"All of you, get out!"
"I don't need your pity! Nor do I need the charity of the House Tully!"
"If you don't help me kill Arthur!"
"Then get out quickly!"
The tip of his sword trembled slightly from anger.
"If you don't leave now! I'll kill all of you!"
Brynden Tully looked at the sword pointed at him, his eyes completely cold. He slowly stood up and adjusted his old chainmail.
All expression vanished from his face, leaving only a cold calm.
His voice was devoid of emotion: "Very well, Roger Lygg."
"Since you have chosen your own fate."
Brynden turned and walked towards the door. Robin Lygg and several Knights of Riverrun followed closely behind. At the doorway, Brynden paused and turned back: "Roger Lygg."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over the room filled with despair, decadence, and the scent of death.
"Riverrun will remember your past loyalty."
Having said that, he turned and walked towards the door, not looking back again.
"And it will also remember your end."
