Chapter 138 - Jashin-chan vs. Gabriel

"Are you even worth my time?" Toya sneered. "Why don't you try using your 'invincible technology' to take your gear back?"

Inside her apartment, the shut-in angel Gabriel shook with rage. "I barely used those cheats for a second before the account got banned! That was a high-level account I spent months grinding for!"

"This is all your fault, you bastard!" she typed furiously.

"If you're so upset, why don't you come and find me?" Toya replied. "Oh, wait. You can't. I guess I'll just have to kill you again."

He manipulated his character, finishing off her avatar with a few effortless clicks. Toya stared at the screen, continuing his mockery: "Weak. Pathetically weak."

On the other side of the city, Gabriel's messy blonde hair began to billow as a golden aura erupted around her. Her presence flared with divine power, looking like a celestial being had descended upon the room.

"That's it. Even if the Heavens punish me, I'm getting my revenge."

"Let's see if you're as tough in person as you are behind a keyboard."

"Great Tracking Art!"

The furious girl invoked a high-level causal spell, swearing an oath to hunt Toya down.

Something is wrong.

Toya's brow furrowed. He felt a sharp ripple in the threads of causality.

A warning from the world itself reached him—someone was targeting him.

Can't handle the loss?

Toya's eyes shifted into the clear depths of the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.

He peered into the space and saw a faint thread of destiny extending through reality, pointing directly at him.

It has to be Gabriel. Toya recognized the holy signature of the spell.

He had just finished roasting her, and given her petty nature as a fallen angel, this was exactly how she would react.

Should I cut the thread? Or maybe...

Toya toyed with a pen, lost in thought.

He could sever the tracking link at any moment, but that felt a bit too simple.

"I lost again! It has to be Medusa's fault. She's standing too close and sucking away all my luck!"

From the other room, Jashin-chan's toxic voice drifted over.

"Medusa! Get away from me, or I'll never win!"

"E-Eh?" Medusa sounded genuinely flustered. "O-Okay, I'll step back further then."

I've found my target. Toya looked at Jashin-chan with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Don't blame me. You're the one being a brat to Medusa. Consider Gabriel's visit a small lesson in humility.

Toya casually strolled past Jashin-chan and gave the thread of causality a subtle flick.

In an instant, the tracking spell latched onto the snake-demon instead.

"Good luck, Jashin-chan. You're going to need it."

Toya muttered the cryptic words and walked away.

"Huh?" Jashin-chan scratched her head, feeling as though something were staring at her.

"Is it just my imagination?"

She tried to ignore the feeling and focus on her game with Sora.

However, the sensation of being hunted grew so intense that she couldn't concentrate at all.

"Someone is tracking me?"

Outside in the courtyard, Toya pulled up a chair to bask in the sun, waiting for Gabriel's arrival.

A moment later, Jashin-chan walked out of the hall with a look of uncharacteristic gravity.

"Toya, I think something terrible is about to happen."

"Something terrible?" Toya raised an eyebrow. "Wow, Jashin-chan, you can actually be serious for once?"

He had never seen her look this focused before.

It seemed Gabriel's aura was putting a significant amount of pressure on her.

"Dammit. If my powers weren't sealed, I'd know exactly what was coming."

I'm going to kill Toya and Yurine one day, she cursed internally.

"Wait, isn't there an Angel Halo in the house?"

"I'll just borrow it for a bit. I'm sure Toya won't mind."

Toya watched from his chair as she grabbed the artifact.

"Consider it compensation," he murmured with a light laugh.

He couldn't expect Jashin-chan to face a vengeful Gabriel with her powers restricted.

The halo would give her just enough celestial energy to hold her own.

I should probably put Excalibur away. The halo would likely be consumed by Jashin-chan eventually.

Once it was gone, he'd need the holy sword to act as a deterrent for any vengeful spirits in the area.

Jashin-chan crept toward the front of the agency, thinking she was being stealthy.

Toya saw everything but chose to let it happen.

The halo began to vibrate in the demon's hands, resisting her touch.

"Fight me all you want," Jashin-chan hissed. "If you don't stay quiet, I'll eat you."

The halo immediately went limp as if it had a mind of its own.

Toya watched, genuinely impressed.

As expected of Jashin-chan. She always finds a way to do the impossible.

As the minutes passed, the atmosphere grew heavy with divine pressure.

She's here.

Toya looked toward the sky as a figure with pure white wings descended slowly.

"She actually cleaned herself up?" Toya chuckled.

"I guess even a fallen angel remembers to dress up before leaving the house."

Gabriel looked absolutely celestial, looking exactly like the top graduate of the Angel Academy again.

But Toya knew the truth.

Beneath that radiant exterior, the fire in her eyes was impossible to hide.

Let's see who's stronger: the snake or the angel.

Gabriel hovered in the air, staring down at Jashin-chan and the halo in her hand.

"Why does a demon have my halo?"

"And why does the causal thread lead to her?"

"Wait... she's not the 'Trash Fox' I was looking for."

Toya, overhearing her mutterings, was surprised.

Her instincts are that sharp? She already knows it wasn't Jashin-chan?

He realized he might have to intervene soon, before she figured out the truth.

Just then, Jashin-chan looked up with a sneer.

"Hey, you sh*tty angel! Did you come here just to get a beating from the great Jashin-chan?"
