Chapter 24 - Training Time 2

Chloe took a few steps backwards and raised her arms out to the side slightly, with the Elf gone for a few minutes she could have her fun without the fear of getting a harsh slap to the back of her head or a sharp pinch on her animalistic ears that were twitching slightly in excitement "Alright Haru come at me!" she said with a smirk.

"But… you don't have a weapon and I don't want to hu—" Haru tried to say as he crouched down and got ready just as he would with Ryuu, keeping a decent amount of space between his feet and keeping himself crouched slightly.

"Oh, I will be fine just come at me already," Chloe said softly with a slight purr as she interrupted the boy.

"Alright, here I come!" Haru warned as he pushed off the dirt and moved forward towards the Cat Person that stood still with her arms still out at her side, something about her posture and smug smile put Haru off and as he was about to come into contact with the Cat Person he hesitated and stepped back slightly.

While he stepped back she quickly moved forward and grabbed onto his right wrist with her left hand, Haru tugged to try and free his hand but found himself unable too. With the katana in his right hand the only real option that he had was to try and use his opposite hand to get the waitress to let go of his wrist.

He went to punch the black haired Cat Person in the chest, though he had hoped that before his fist landed she would let go of his wrist and back off. Though instead of letting go and backing off or even taking the punch to the chest the waitress raised her other free hand and caught his closed fist before it could reach its target.

There was a moment of silence between the two as Haru stared into her jade green eyes and she gazed right back into his crimson orbs, then she rolled her right hand forward and it bent Haru's fist backwards and there was a rather loud crack in his wrist as he felt the strength in his hand waver.

While the pain was still shooting through his hand and wrist the Cat Person let go of his fist and wrist and did a small leap backwards and placed her hands into the pockets of her shorts and angled her hip out to the right slightly.

Haru held onto his left wrist and shook his hand around a few times to try to get some feeling back into his fingers, he looked up from his sore hand to the Cat Person as she stood there in place silently for a moment before she spoke softly. "Meow hesitated. Why?" she asked him with a slight tilt of her head to the side.

"I… am not quite sure… you didn't have a weapon and weren't moving so I just… held back for a second is all…" Haru said as he hung his head a bit and shuffled his feet in place.

"Well a second will cost meow meower life, so don't ever hesitate. That's the single best piece of advice that I can offer meow." Chloe said her peace and sighed slightly as she pulled her hands from her shorts pockets and smirked slightly. "Now, try again." Chloe said as she crouched down slightly and got ready for Haru's second attempt.

He charged forward again with his borrowed blade at the ready and gripped tightly in his right, Haru tried to show no hesitation as he went to attack the Cat Person with the katana and for a second time she reached out and grabbed his wrist. However she twisted his arm around at an awkward angle and pinned it behind his back, her front was pressed against his chest and the young boy blushed slightly as the two faces were only inches away from each other.

She leaned forward and licked his cheek with her rough tongue and smirked as she tilted her head to the side with an amused expression on her face. "So, what now Haru? Better get out quickly or I will dislocate your shoulder next."

While Haru questioned if the waitress would actually go that far he was not willing to simply wait and find out so he thought about what he could possibly do to get out of her hold, her body was too close to kick and his right hand was pinned behind his back with the short katana. The only thing that he could really move was his head and his left arm, he had debated headbutting the Cat Person though he stopped before he did and convinced himself that it would have likely just ended up hurting him more then the waitress.

In a quick flash of realization he brought his left arm behind his back just under his right hand and let go of the katana, it dropped into his free left hand and while holding it backwards brough it around for an attack. Though the Cat Person was quite quick in her retreat the blade did manage to catch her loose white shirt and make a small cut near the bottom. While the Cat Person stood a few feet away from the white haired boy that was busy wiping his damp cheek with his shirt's sleeve, she examined her loose shirt and noted the small new cut in her article of clothing.

"Great work! I sure wasn't expecting that from meow." Chloe said with a smirk on her face, just as she was about to continue speaking the door opened again and Ryuu came back out into the courtyard with a glass of water in her right hand. She walked over and handed it to the white haired boy that happily accepted the cup with a relieved smile on his face that the Elf had returned. Ryuu glared at Chloe for a moment before she shrugged off the awkward atmosphere and noticed her shirt.

"What happened to your shirt?" Ryuu asked with a slight tilt of her head to her side as she pointed it out. "I don't remember that being there before.." she added as she tried to remember if the Cat Persons white shirt had the same tear before she had left for her drink.

"Oh, this? Haru did it, can you even believe it! Seems that I am just that much better of a teacher." Chloe said softly as she shot Ryuu a small cocky smirk.

"Or it just means that you are getting sloppy or let him do so…" Ryuu said as she folded her arms and glared at the feline waitress.

Chloe shrugged it off and walked over as she stood beside the Elf her smile grew slightly and she whispered. "Come on Ryuu… meow can't just beat him down over and over without giving him at the very least a small win today."

With a small sigh and a pinch of the bridge of her nose Ryuu spoke as calmly as she could. "It's not about giving him a win… did you already forget that he went to the dungeon without a falna? The dungeon will eat him alive if we just treat this casually…".

"I know I know. I agree that was a reallyyyy stupid action, meow wont get any argument from me there, I am just trying to give the boy a little boost is all." Chloe said as she hooked her thumbs in the pockets of her shorts and turned around to face the white haired boy and look in the same direction as the Elf.

"Are you finished with him yet?" Ryuu asked hoping to receive a nod from the Cat Person, the sun was starting to rise and their time was starting to run out for the training session. Though Ryuu received a negative response as the waitress stepped forward and turned her head around to look back at the Elf.

"Nope! I got one more thing I want to try first, then you can have the boy back." the Cat Person said as she turned her attention back to the white haired boy before he could hear any argument from the Elven waitress. Haru was just finishing up his glass of water that Ryuu had been generous enough to bring out to him, he set the empty glass down on the table and let out a satisfied sigh.

"C-Chloe, listen I..sorry about your shirt. If you tell me what size it is I can get you a new one when I have enough to afford one." Haru said as he averted his gaze and directed it towards the ground and scratched at the back of his head.

The Cat Person before him simply laughed for a few seconds and while wiping away a small bit of dampness from the corner of her right eye from her laughter she spoke calmly. "Don't worry about it, just an old shirt. Really nothing more than a rag honestly, keep meower money. Spend it on something that will keep meow alive instead when you start going to the dungeon more."

Haru looked up and she nodded to him with a small smile and he nodded back to the Cat Person, if that was really what she wanted then he had no reason to argue with the feline any further about the issue.

"Alrighty, are meow ready for round three?" Chloe asked as she walked in a small circle around the white haired boy with a small smirk on her face.

Haru raised his hands up, spread his feet apart and grinded his feet against the ground for a few seconds and took several deep breaths. "I am all set… let's go!" Haru said rather confidently, with his small victory against the Cat Person he had a reenergized spirit to go for even longer.

Chloe continued to walk around in a small circle and Haru rotated his body in place to match her gaze, until she walked behind the singular tree in the courtyard and was out of sight for a moment.

"Play with me." Haru heard Chloe softly say as she stepped behind the tree and a moment later the Cat Person stepped out from behind the tree with a smug smirk on her amused face. Haru decided to charge the Cat Person right away, he held the short katana in his right hand and pushed his way forward at a quick pace and the Cat Person just stood in place. Though Haru wanted to pull back when he saw that the Cat Person really had no intention of moving out of the way and meeting him head on, though Haru had assumed that she had some trick up her sleeve.

So before he was within range of the Cat Person he lightly tossed the blade from his right hand to his left, catching the waitress by surprise based off of the expression on her face. Though she still made no attempt to block, dodge or counter attack. With a single downwards slash the blade that Haru held in his hand passed right through Chloe and left Haru standing puzzled and motionless for a second.

"Wha… I don't under—" before he could finish speaking he felt someone wrap their arms around his torso from behind and held Haru tightly to prevent him from getting away, he turned his head around and saw Chloe's smirking face.

"You seemed pretty committed there, maybe a tad too committed to try and cut me…" Chloe whispered in the boy's ear as she let out a soft purr and Haru squirmed around in her tight hold.

"How did you… I thought that you were… I don't understand!" Haru said as he tried to slip away from the Cat Person, though found himself unable to get away.

"Alright alright calm down and I will tell you." Chloe whispered again as she rested her chin on the boy's shoulder. Within a few seconds he had stopped his squirming and once he had Chloe placed her palms against his upper chest and gave it two quick little squeezes. "Surprise attack!" she said rather loudly before she threw her arms up in the air and let him go, making a retreat by spinning in a small circle and taking a step back.

Meanwhile Haru spun around and folded his arms over his chest where the Cat Person had grabbed him and gave the waitress an awkward look, then he saw the Elf Ryuu walking up from behind Chloe. "C-Chloe behind y–" the sound of a loud smack cut Haru off as Ryuu slapped the back of Chloe's head with her right hand.

"Hey, this is supposed to be serious training… not an excuse for you to touch the boy you perverted cat…." Ryuu closed her eyes and shook her head for a few seconds as she pushed past the Cat Person and walked up to Haru. "I apologize for that… let's just continue now…" she said calmly and got ready to continue her instruction.

"I wasn't just using it as an excuse to touch him! I was teaching him another important lesson." Chloe said as she rubbed the back of her sore head and swore that she could already feel a small bump forming.

"Really? What could that have possibly taught the boy?" Ryuu said as she turned her head around and looked back at the black haired waitress with a small frown on her face.

"To keep an eye out for the use of magic and also attacks from behind." Chloe said with a small smirk as she nearly laughed at her own comment.

"Wait, that was magic that you used? You can use magic!" Haru said with a decent amount of excitement in his voice. The white haired boy had always wanted to learn about magic ever since he was a little boy, he remembered the stories that his grandfathers had read to him before he went to bed some nights.

"Yes I can! Though don't get too excited...I am not too skilled in it and I do only have one spell… so if meow thought about asking me to teach meow some magic well that isn't going to happen sadly…" Chloe said as she just brushed off the excitement the best way she could before he could get too excited.

"Oh, I see…" Haru said softly as he was clearly disappointed for a moment, but he reminded himself that he was being trained for free and taking up both of the waitresses valuable time. So being anything other than appreciative would not be right given his set of circumstances.

"Still, this is just supposed to be the basics Chloe… Mr. Fenris will not have to worry about anything even close to that until he reaches the deeper floors which will be quite a while away." Ryuu said honestly in a calm tone, though her words were hard to hear and accept they were the truth. It would take a long time to go down to any of the lower floors and Haru knew that he still had a long road ahead of him.

"Though… I suppose there was at least one lesson in there that could be learned. Mr. Fenris, have you ever seen or at least heard about how monsters spawn in the dungeon?" the Elf asked with a small curious look on her normally black canvass of a complexion.

"Yeah, they crawl out of the walls of the dungeon." Haru answered as straightforward as he could to the Elven waitress.

"Correct, the dungeon has a weird way of spawning monsters at some of the worst moments to catch adventurers at the most nonoptimal times. So making sure to check behind you frequently is important, being attacked from behind… especially being attacked from behind by any enemy that you are unaware of can be deadly." the Elf said as she had known full well how effective the tactic was of sneaking up from behind and attacking a person without their knowledge. A long, grueling and challenging fight could be brought to a swift and easy end with barely any struggle given the right circumstances and a well timed sneak attack.

"R-right! I will make sure to keep that in mind!" Haru said with a bright smile on his face, just as he was about to ask what they had planned next for him to do another Cat Person joined them. She hung upside down from one of the tree branches with a small smile on her face as she hummed a tune. "Morning! How's the training going? Nyah!" the short brown haired Cat Person let their arms dangle loosely as she swayed from side to side slightly.

"A-anya, w-where did you come from?" Haru asked quickly in slight surprise still, he had not noticed the door to the courtyard from the kitchen open and knew of no other way to get into the small yard that was becoming increasingly populated.

"One of the branches from the tree stretches right up to my window so I can use that to climb on the tree and use it to sneak out and get out of work… oops… forget I said that nyah!" the Cat Person said with a bright smile as she laughed softly and continued to swing from side to side slightly.

"Anywayyyyy," before any of the other waitresses that were shooting her glares could question her about her favorite napping spot where she went to get out of work she tried to switch the topic to what had brought her to the courtyard in the first place. "So, can I take a turn now? Nyah" the brown haired cat asked as she stretched herself and grabbed the branch she was dangling from with her hands before rolling back and swinging around upright, she hung from the branch by her hands for a moment, her feet just dangled above the ground before she let go and dropped with a soft thud.
