The hotel room we were staying in was small, and it smelled of tobacco, though there was a huge no-smoking sign mounted over one of the three beds. Red, Amara and I sat down because standing somehow seemed to kick the air out of the room entirely, and for the longest time, neither of us knew what to say.
When Red said that he would take me to see his fairy friend so we could find out more about the man who conceived me, I'd been hopeful. I'd thought knowing more was going to clear my head, make everything just a tiny bit easier.
Instead, the information the fairy Trinity had given us had knocked the ground from under my feet all over again.
