Big halls, big grounds, big buildings, every facility a human can be in need of. Everything is here. Cool.
Wangdu thought while going along with other newcomers into a hall where a speech is supposed to happen. Delivered by the current director of the Korean FGHU. Wangdu looked around. A total of 2000 students enrolled this year. These are the all. Since all of this goes for 3 years the average must be around 2000 or so, then I'll be seeing a tottle of around 6000 students from all 3 years. Pretty much less compared to the size of school. He is curious about where is the dorms or wherever they are going to stay. He can think of all kinds of things, fictional or real doesn't matter. If this is where geniuses assemble then he is going to have so much fun.
That's what he thought until director came on the stage, grabbed the mic furiously and said, "Are you all idiots?" What does he mean? Could he not say something nice first? That's basic civic sense. Wangdu thought when he noticed that many students got shocked, few flinched and other got nervous while looking elsewhere. In the end they all are normal humans who did really hard on studies to get here. But maybe not everyone is idiot here. I shouldn't be prejudice to them.
"FGHU has a long history throughout the generation all around the world. But look at this batch. Not a single one seems confident!" Some became confident after hearing that. "I'm the director, Mr. Kim and hope you all will not see me much." He sighed before continuing, "Coming to back to the point, to fully register to our classes you all are going to give us a test, which will include 3 sections. Since you all are so 'intelligent' and so 'deserving' I hope you all can pass it at the least. Last year the students who came as 1st year were around 1900 and only 800 barely passed! So I hope better results this time. I've nothing else to say but just a reminder that this facility is not like happy life, sure you will be free to move around and have a fun but even joy and frustration is counted here. Treat this like a military base camp of 3 years. The details of the test will be given a handbook of this school which will also include other things related to school. Hm." He gave mic to a lady teacher nearby and went away through the backdoor of the stage.
"Students please make 10 lines over the counter on the right side and get handbook quickly." She said. And then one student raised hand, "MAM! I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THAT TEACHER FROM EARLIER SAID TO US!!" This guy said this in korean. Till now durector has been talking in english thinking that every student here must know english as it has achieved the title of world basic language. But seems like this one guy isn't one of those who learned it. Teacher gestured him to come closer and he happily went to her.
"Can he survive?" , "who knows." Hm? Wangdu looked around and saw Seo Joon who nodded in the agreement , "that guy is doomed." , "where were you Joon?" , "hm? Got nervous without me yeah? Well i was looking for pretty girls around here." , "so did you hear what director said?" , "maybe?" He said and suddenly ran to another girl to be rejected. And then he came back, "23rd...." , "you look sad Joon, what 23rd? Is it the number of times you slapped?" , "It's not that Wangdu, but the number of times I got rejected.", "well that's basically same thing", "Waaaa...." talent of making fake tears? You sure are talented Seo Joon.
After that they all got lined up in 10 rows. Wangdu, Seo and Ji Ho being in 3rd one at the very last. "You came out of nowhere Ji ho." Seo said while inspecting him. "I was looking around and just got here a while ago." , "so you weren't in hall during speech?" , "nope. What was in it?" , "I don't know either. I was busy too." How did these two got in here? Wangdu thought while they kept chatting.
After 10 minutes of waiting they finally got a handbook. "It's really hand sized." Wangdu said to himself. Checking in and out through. After half a minute he got the idea. "What's in it?" Seo asked, "read it." , "cmon tell us." , "yeah brother tell us." Ji ho insisted too. When did I become your brother? But ok that's how boys are like. "According to it,...." they both kept staring at him as if a the secret of gods is opening. "Everyone here is doomed." , "what?" They both said in unison.
Then someone screamed, "WAIT!! This is not a ACADEMIC TEST?!!" A girl? That makes sense. Wangdu thought and looked again at his two new brothers. "Stranger, did you read it wrong?" Now I'm a stranger? "You heard that girl right? It says that this is not about normal academics knowledge." , "eh? Then what's it about?"
"Section one is about gaming!" Said in traditional Hangeul (korean it is but like from countryside) Wangdu and others looked at this new guy who came and said this. Same boy who got called by that teacher earlier. "Oh you are alive bro. But what are you saying?" Seo asked him, "My name is Ichitoshi and I'm saying what I'm saying!" , "I got one question Ichitoshi." Seo said calmy in his tone. "Oh are you also from countryside!" He asked happily hearing his tone. "I used to live there. So what's up with your name?" , "wait you two! We need to talk about this test! It's in next 1 hour in another hall!" Ji Ho said but got scoffed away by Seo, "well My parents are Japanese but I was born in Korea that's why!" Ichitoshi explained.
As they all kept talking Wangdu was looking through the handbook once again and found a puzzle in it. A crossword puzzle but in reality this was disguised as QR code. Really small but Wangdu caught the letters in it.
"Oh." Is all he could say. Pretty much expected. I can tell now what they really mean by that this is not about academics. Right now for this test our score in sections doesn't matter at all. But what matters is.... .
He pointed out the word 'Sacrifice' in the puzzle to himself.
What really matters is this thing. They don't care about marks, they don't care about morals either, but something like brotherhood. But to manipulate to the extent of a Sacrifice. And what handbook tells is that these sections are going to contain tournament type competition, which isn't a competition at all. I know this because I decoded the puzzle. It was easy once you find where the puzzle is. So by it, it's like this,
Section 1: Gaming.
Choose a game of your choice from the given options. Digital or indoor or outdoor games. Students will be paired up to compete each other. And will proceed like any other tournament.
This will start in an hour.
But there is a warning of twists in the last rounds. And Wangdu knows what's it. Marks or say score obtained during these rounds can be traded and abandoned by teammates. This comes with benefits to either one individual who did it or the whole team that got formed as rounds kept going on.
Section 2: Unknown.
Section 3: Unknown.
Will be unlocked after 40 minutes.
Wangdu smiled a bit. He can see these students fight for score knowing that it doesn't matter at all. But he also knows that there must be others who knows this too. That QR code wasn't that hard to find if someone really thinks and try to find one in the handbook.
The handbook that is given is a digital device that is solely for informing about these kind of things. A little notepad like looking mobile gadget.
FGHU facility want to trick students into thinking something really useless. Right now, everyone only knows about section one and is thinking according to it only, about which game to choose. But when after 40 minutes next Section be revealed there might be a uproar. The next sections might be something that would go against their strategy.
The thing is, if right now they choose a digital game or indoor game and it says that the next section is all about brain, they will regret their choices, same with physical games. It really does depends on probability that how the next section will go like.
This is the Annihilation of the cowards who can't stand their own choices out of worries.
A/n:ok guys so most of the time they al are speaking korean in their friendgroup. Teachers will speak in english while sometimes wangdu will need to change to Japanese or Indonesian or whatever is needed for specific moments.
