Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Five Vs Five

Sino High School, just like every other high school, was currently on break, so it was no surprise that the school was mostly deserted.

It would have been completely deserted if it weren't for the boys currently running around on the pitch.

Football was a game that required eleven players on each side for a proper official match. But for anything beyond an official match, people were free to add their own little twists to the game as long as it wasn't anything illegal.

In certain cases, people would have fewer than twenty-two players to complete two proper teams, so they would just make do with what they have. This was the reason why Adrian found the boys on the pitch playing with just five players on each side the moment he entered the school premises.

"Hey, Henry over here."

Adrian shifted his gaze to the right to see the boy named Henry, who was with the ball and currently had his path blocked by an opposing player. Adrian found him to look familiar but he couldn't figure out where he had seen him before.

Henry remained calm as he guarded the ball while trying to find a way through.

The teammate who called for the ball earlier had already stretched down the right but Henry didn't seem to think it was time to release the ball yet.

He performed quick leg overs to try to confuse the player in front of him, and when he saw that that wasn't working, he quickly turned around with the ball.

Seeing this, the other player quickly followed him.

With his back facing the opposing player, he made very quick left and right movements almost dragging the player behind him down and within the split second that the player tried to regain his balance, he quickly spun around with the ball and got past him.

"Impressive reflexes," Adrian muttered, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly.

There were initially two players trying to keep the teammate who called for Henry earlier contained, but seeing Henry get past the obstacle in his way had to quickly track back to block his path through the middle while the other one continued trying to contain the ticking time bomb on the right.

Seeing this, Henry's lips curled into a smile, he had achieved what he wanted to achieve.

Before the player could get to him, he quickly pushed the ball toward the right.

"Oscar, here!" He called out before he sent the ball flying to his teammate.

Oscar had to push forward to get to the ball ahead of the opposing player man-marking him. Henry might have over-hit the ball a little there as he had to jump quite high to be able to get his head on the ball.

His curly dark hair swayed a bit the moment the ball hit his head before flying a little higher.

The opposing player saw this as a chance to contest for the ball, but Oscar, being closer to the ball while also being a bit taller than him, gave him a slight advantage.

With a slight touch, he headed the ball past him before flashing past him to neatly bring the ball down, dashing off like a gust of wind.

"Don't let him get near the goalpost!" The player by the side screamed as he dashed toward Oscar in an attempt to cross him off.

Oscar's other two teammates were also closing in on the box.

Meanwhile, Henry was just leisurely walking down with a subtle smile on his face.

"Not much you can do now." He clicked his tongue.

There really wasn't much that the opposing team could do as Oscar was just too fast for them.

By the time they got to the D box, only one of them was able to barely keep up with Oscar.

Unable to keep chasing the speedster while also being unwilling to give up, he stretched out his leg from behind Oscar.

That was quite a dangerous move that might have ended up getting the player on the receiving end injured, but luckily, he didn't fully stretch out his leg and was only able to get a light touch on the ball while also tripping Oscar a bit.

Unfortunately, that little touch on the ball was all it took to get the ball away from Oscar, giving the goalkeeper the chance to dash out and claim the ball before Oscar could recover.

Oscar believed that there might have been a foul there, but since there wasn't really any referee in this match, and no one would agree to a foul unless it was super obvious, he could only let it go.

Meanwhile, the players on the opposing side had already run deep into the other side of the pitch while calling for the ball.

"Captain over here!" One of the players who found himself in a free space screamed.

Usually, their captain wouldn't waste time sending out the ball in a situation like this. So, what was going on?

He turned around to see his captain looking toward the sidelines. He followed his captain's gaze and the moment he saw what his captain was looking at, he was stunned immediately.

For a while now, he had thought that it would be hard to find someone who could match their captain in the aspect of looks. He never expected to be proven wrong today.

While his captain was staring at Adrian, Adrian was also looking at him. His short brown hair was a bit fluffy, but the style didn't look out of place on him; in fact, it added a bit of homeliness to his otherwise stoic appearance.

It was at this point that someone moved closer to the captain, who was still holding the ball.

"Do you know him, Eric?" Asked Savi.

"No." Eric shook his head in response.

'Seeing his picture once doesn't really count as knowing him, oh, there's also that other time.' He added inwardly.

Eric, suddenly paying attention to Adrian, had brought the match to a pause, and now everyone on the pitch had their eyes locked onto Adrian.

Adrian could almost see the question marks dangling on their heads.

He felt a little guilty under their gaze, and that was because the moment he saw Eric, he realised why Henry felt familiar to him.

They had met before on the pitch, it was a friendly match that didn't really end well for Sino High School.

It seemed the school was in England for some kind of tour and had playing against Ravenwood Academy on their agenda.

He contributed quite a lot to the humiliation Sino High School received that day.

It took him seeing Eric to realise it, and that was because, other than Henry, none of the people here had been in that team.

Eric wasn't in the team but he remembered him because he stopped him and his friend to ask for directions. He chatted a bit with his loud-mouthed friend and said some things that made him somewhat uncomfortable, so he remembered him.

"So, he's the captain," Adrian muttered under his breath.
