Valorin's attack came at dawn.
Not at Drak'thar. Not at the sanctuaries. At the heart of the bridge tier network itself—the cosmic substrate that connected every transitioned being.
Lord felt it immediately. A severing. A wound. Thousands of bridge tier beings suddenly isolated, their connections to each other cut off.
"What's happening?" Uru's voice was sharp. She felt it too.
"Valorin has found a way to disrupt the substrate." Lord's gold eyes blazed. "He's not attacking beings. He's attacking the network that holds us together."
Gorvax appeared in the doorway. "The Tribunal's technology. Valorin has been developing substrate jammers for years. We thought they were theoretical."
"They're not theoretical anymore."
Owen was already moving. "Where do we need to be?"
"Everywhere," Lord said. "The jammers are scattered across multiple sectors. We need to destroy them before the network collapses."
