Live for herself?

She was completely, utterly stunned.

Over a thousand years. She had lived for over a millennium. She had gone from an ignorant little girl to Asshai's most devout believer, and finally to the absolute most powerful High Priestess of the Lord of Light.

Her entire existence had been spent running herself ragged for a formless, ethereal god and an unreachable prophecy.

She had witnessed the rise and violent fall of dynasties; she had seen the final curtain drop on absolute heroes. She had once had friends. She had parents who loved her.

But they were all dead. Permanently reduced to a handful of dust in the endless river of time.

Only she remained, like a ghost entirely forgotten on the shoreline, completely isolated as she watched the tides rise and fall.

Not a single person had ever asked if she was tired. Not a single person had ever asked if she actually wanted this so-called eternal life.

They only saw her flawless, radiant exterior. They only saw her apocalyptic magic and her status as the High Priestess of the Red God. They revered her, they were utterly terrified of her, and they ruthlessly used her.

But not a single person had ever genuinely cared about her.

And today.

This man standing right in front of her. The exact man who had just personally, actively murdered her, only to violently drag her soul right back from the realm of the dead.

He was actually telling her to live for herself?

"I..."

Melisandre opened her mouth, heavy tears violently spilling from her crimson eyes completely out of her control. "Live... for myself?" Her voice violently shook.

Lynn stared at her in dead silence.

But Melisandre perfectly understood. She read absolutely everything she needed to know in those bottomless eyes. An unprecedented, radical thought began violently, aggressively mutating in her brain!

She didn't want to be that aloof, untouchable High Priestess anymore!

She refused to be permanently chained down by hollow prophecies and absolute missions! She wanted freedom! She wanted to actively live for herself, just once!

"I understand."

Melisandre took a heavy, ragged breath, aggressively wiping the tears from her face with the back of her hand. When she finally raised her head again, every single ounce of vulnerability and paralyzing confusion had completely, permanently vanished from her crimson eyes.

She locked eyes with Lynn and slowly, methodically dropped back to her knees.

"My Lord." Her voice carried a new, profoundly heavy... yet completely relieved calm.

"You are absolutely right."

"I lived a thousand years for the Lord of Light. Now... I want to live for you, and for myself. One more time."

Lynn stared down at her, highly intrigued. "And how exactly do you plan to do that?"

Melisandre didn't answer immediately. She slowly closed her eyes, as if deeply feeling for something inside herself. A heavy moment passed before she finally spoke.

"The Lord of Light bestowed four absolute powers upon me."

"Prophecy. Fire. Curses. And... Shadows."

Her voice dropped to a lethal whisper.

"Prophecy allows me to see shattered fragments of the absolute future within the flames."

"Fire allows me to physically manifest and control the flames."

"Curses allow me to utilize King's Blood to unleash the most apocalyptic, venomous punishments upon my enemies."

"And Shadows... allow me to actively incubate the absolute most fiercely loyal, entirely unstoppable assassins."

With every single power she listed, the predatory light in Lynn's eyes flared violently brighter.

Holy fucking shit! Melisandre was a literal, walking goldmine. Divination, pyromancy, blood curses, and shadow assassin summoning. She was an absolute, mobile skill library!

"These powers have constantly acted as a heavy, permanent collar around my soul," Melisandre spat, her voice dripping with absolute disgust.

"I don't want them anymore."

She snapped her head up, her crimson eyes violently burning with a new, intense fire.

"Please, permit me to actively, permanently surrender absolutely all four of these authorities directly to you!"

"From this exact second forward, I, Melisandre, am nothing more than a normal woman, permanently anchored to your side to absolutely serve you!"

Lynn's heart violently hammered against his ribs.

Are you fucking kidding me? Four absolute god-tier skills hand-delivered on a silver platter? He'd have to be brain-dead to refuse! Hand that shit over! Lynn was screaming internally, but outwardly, he flawlessly maintained his dead, unfathomable calm.

"Are you absolutely certain?"

"Yes!" Melisandre's tone was ironclad. "This is the absolute first choice I have actively made for myself in over a thousand years."

"Excellent." Lynn gave a slow, measured nod.

Since she had already completely made up her mind, he absolutely wasn't going to reject the offer. He deliberately closed the distance between them.

"Tell me exactly how to take them."

An incredibly radiant, impossibly bright smile violently bloomed across Melisandre's face. It was the absolute smile of profound release; the smile of being entirely reborn.

"Please. Extend your hand and place it directly against my forehead."

Lynn flawlessly executed the command. His heavy palm pressed completely flat against Melisandre's smooth forehead. Her skin was incredibly warm and soft.

"Now, I need you to completely feel my soul."

Melisandre's voice shifted, becoming heavily ethereal and deeply solemn. She began to actively chant in a dead, ancient tongue.

The absolute second the chant left her lips, four violently distinct, highly concentrated beams of pure light aggressively erupted from her body!

One was a brilliant, blinding gold—the absolute manifestation of prophecy!

One was a burning, apocalyptic crimson—the raw power of fire!

One was a sickly, highly toxic purple—the lethal essence of curses!

And the final beam was a pitch-black, suffocating darkness—the absolute power of the shadow!

All four streams of absolute energy violently surged straight up Lynn's arm, aggressively flooding his entire nervous system!

[DING! Detected: Unbound Fragments of the Lord of Light's Authority!]

[Initiating Absorption Process...]

[DING! Congratulations to the host for acquiring new skill: Shadow Assassin (Novice)!]

The freezing system prompts violently, rapidly fired off inside Lynn's skull!

He felt like his physical body was being completely, absolutely supercharged by four unfathomable, apocalyptic oceans of pure energy!

The exact second the final trace of black light permanently sank into Lynn's skin, dead silence violently crashed back down over the bedroom.

Melisandre's body heavily swayed. Looking exactly as if every single ounce of her life force had been violently siphoned away, she collapsed backward. Lynn's reflexes were instantaneous, smoothly catching her and aggressively pulling her against his chest.

He looked down.

The woman in his arms felt entirely different. Her inherently crimson eyes had heavily faded, completely losing their bizarre, terrifyingly demonic glow. Instead, they were now saturated with the bright, highly expressive vulnerability of a true human.

That heavy, completely unreadable, and intensely alien aura that usually radiated off her had permanently vanished.

Right now, she just looked like a completely normal, fragile woman who had just violently survived a terminal illness. An absolutely, suffocatingly flawless woman.

"I..." Melisandre leaned heavily against Lynn's chest.

She felt an unprecedented, apocalyptic level of physical weakness. But simultaneously, she felt an entirely unprecedented, profound lightness. She was absolutely free. She was finally, permanently no longer a highly expendable, actively manipulated puppet.

From this exact second forward, she refused to give a single flying fuck about some brain-dead prophecy. Whether the entirety of Westeros was violently swallowed by absolute darkness had absolutely nothing to do with her anymore. She had officially, permanently betrayed her god.

She slowly tilted her head up, locking onto Lynn's face resting mere inches from hers—a face that brought her an unfathomable, absolute sense of security.

A highly shy, deeply satisfied smile slowly hooked the corners of her mouth.

"My Lord..."

"From this exact moment on, I am permanently, completely yours."

"I have walked this earth for an impossibly long time... if you are not absolutely disgusted by the fact that I am nothing but an old woman..."

"I am more than willing to use the absolute remainder of my life to fully serve you."

Lynn stared down at her incredibly fragile, highly expectant expression. He let out a low chuckle.

"An old woman?" Lynn smoothly reached out, lightly but firmly gripping her flawlessly sculpted chin. "How exactly did I miss that?"

With those words, he slowly leaned down, deliberately pressing his forehead completely flat against hers.

[DING! Skill 'Eternal Youth' Successfully Activated!]

[Linked Target: Melisandre!]

A massive, heavily intoxicating surge of pure, raw life force violently erupted from Lynn's body, aggressively flooding straight into Melisandre's nervous system!

Her entire body violently convulsed.

She could actively, physically feel it—the terminal, draining sensation of her mortal life force violently, permanently screeching to a dead halt! An absolute, intoxicating rush of true immortality aggressively flooded back into her veins! But this time, it was absolutely not a freezing, highly toxic curse.

She stared blankly at Lynn, completely mesmerized by the dark, highly amused smirk resting on his lips.

Heavy tears violently spilled over her lashes once again.

"A thousand years is absolutely nothing but a warm-up," Lynn's voice echoed directly into her ear, as lethal and hypnotic as a literal demon's whisper.

"From this exact second forward, you permanently belong to me."

"If you absolutely refuse to involve yourself in the wars to come, that is perfectly fine. My brain is entirely packed with a massive list of highly entertaining concepts that I need you to physically manifest for me."
