Cherreads

Chapter 135 - CHAPTER 135

Dawn had not yet fully broken, but the sky had already changed color.

Not the deep red as it had been before.

Instead, a pale gradient that felt unfamiliar, as if the world was still adjusting to the new balance that had just been formed.

Aurelia stood on ground that had returned to calm.

The second node they had stabilized earlier now only left a thin line, almost invisible.

But she knew.

It was not truly gone.

Only… dormant.

Waiting.

Kael walked past the subsided circle.

He observed the change carefully.

"This is interesting," he murmured.

Ragnar let out a faint snort.

"If it doesn't explode, I'm not interested."

Orion stood a little further away.

His eyes were closed, trying to feel the flow of energy that now shifted direction.

"The network is starting to form a new pattern."

Aurelia turned.

"What kind of pattern?"

Orion slowly opened his eyes.

"No longer heading toward a single center."

He paused for a moment.

"But spreading out."

Silence fell.

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"Do you mean we no longer have one goal?"

Aurelia shook her head gently.

"Not quite."

She took a few steps forward.

Her hand touched the air.

Feeling the invisible paths that were now more complex.

"Once everything led to one point."

She said.

"Now… everything is connected."

Ragnar grinned.

"Does that mean we have to touch all of them?"

Kael let out a small laugh.

"Welcome to endless work."

Orion did not smile.

"This isn't just about quantity."

He looked toward the horizon.

"But about priorities."

Aurelia nodded.

She could feel the difference in intensity.

Some nodes felt weak.

But there were also ones.

That were much stronger.

Deeper.

More… dangerous.

"There is one."

She said softly.

Her voice had changed.

More serious.

Kael immediately paid attention.

"Where?"

Aurelia closed her eyes.

Pulling on that thread of energy.

Following the heaviest flow.

And she found it.

"To the west."

She opened her eyes.

"Much larger than the one before."

Ragnar grinned widely.

"Finally, a challenge."

Orion let out a slow sigh.

"If it's larger…"

He looked at Aurelia.

"…the risk is also higher."

Aurelia did not hesitate.

"We still go."

No one argued.

They moved.

But this time, their steps were not like before.

Not just a journey.

But an… approach.

Every meter they covered felt heavier.

The surroundings changed.

The ground grew darker.

The air felt thicker.

As if something ahead was rejecting their presence.

Ragnar walked on the left side.

His hand would clench occasionally, as if holding back the urge to attack something not yet visible.

Kael remained calm.

But his eyes kept moving, noticing small changes around them.

Orion kept his distance.

Making sure their positions stayed balanced.

Aurelia was in front.

Serving as the guide.

But the closer they got.

The stronger the pressure became.

Not like the previous nodes.

This was different.

More alive.

More… aware.

Aurelia stopped suddenly.

Everyone stopped immediately.

Before them.

The ground opened wide.

But it was not an ordinary crack.

Rather, a chasm.

Deep.

Dark.

And from within it.

Red light swirled.

But not wildly.

Orderly.

Like a vortex.

"This isn't a node…"

Kael murmured.

Orion nodded.

"It's an intersection."

Ragnar grimaced.

"I don't like that word."

Aurelia stepped closer.

She felt something different.

Not just energy.

But… direction.

Many directions.

"It divides the paths."

She said softly.

Kael narrowed his eyes.

"What does that mean?"

Aurelia looked at the vortex.

"If we make a mistake…"

She paused for a moment.

"…we could strengthen the wrong one."

Silence.

Heavier.

Orion stepped closer.

He observed the swirling pattern.

"There are several currents inside it."

He said.

"Not all are stable."

Ragnar let out a rough sigh.

"So we have to choose?"

Kael smiled faintly.

"It's always been that way."

Aurelia did not answer immediately.

She closed her eyes.

Feeling deeper.

More difficult.

Because the currents collided with each other.

It was unclear which was right.

Which was wrong.

Everything seemed possible.

Everything felt… alive.

"There's interference."

She opened her eyes.

Orion nodded.

"Like something is clouding the paths."

Kael added,

"Or deliberately hiding the real one."

Ragnar scoffed.

"Then we'll make our own path."

Aurelia looked at him.

She considered it.

"We can."

She said softly.

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"Really?"

Aurelia nodded.

"If this path isn't clear…"

She looked at the vortex.

"…I will create a new one."

Silence.

Something shifted.

Ragnar smiled.

"That's the one I know."

Orion watched seriously.

"But the risk is great."

Kael sighed.

"It always is."

Aurelia stepped forward.

Moving to the edge of the chasm.

The red light reacted immediately.

The vortex spun faster.

Stronger.

But she did not step back.

She raised her hand.

Gold-white light appeared.

Deeper.

More… controlled.

She did not try to stabilize.

She did not follow.

She created.

The light formed a line.

Thin.

But clear.

Entering the vortex.

Cutting through the chaotic currents.

Finding its own way.

The vortex trembled.

As if rejecting it.

But also… drawn to it.

Aurelia focused.

All her attention was fixed on one purpose.

Making a path.

Not one that already existed.

But one she chose.

Slowly.

The light cut deeper.

Forming a road.

Stable.

Calm.

In the middle of chaos.

Orion narrowed his eyes.

"She's not just reading…"

He said softly.

"…she's changing the system."

Kael smiled faintly.

"Always one step ahead."

Ragnar let out a small laugh.

"I like the result."

But.

Just as the path was almost complete.

The vortex reacted.

Harder.

Wilder.

Red energy burst forth.

Trying to close the path that had been made.

BOOOOM.

A wave of energy struck.

Aurelia shifted half a step.

But did not retreat.

She pushed harder.

The light in her hand grew brighter.

"No…"

She said softly.

"…this is my path."

And with one final push.

The light pierced the center of the vortex.

Everything stopped.

For one second.

The world felt still.

Then.

The vortex changed.

Its spin slowed.

The red energy no longer collided.

But followed the new path.

The path made by Aurelia.

Silence descended.

Deeper.

More… stable.

Aurelia slowly lowered her hand.

Her breathing was heavy.

But her eyes remained calm.

Ragnar raised an eyebrow.

"So… did we succeed?"

Orion watched carefully.

"For now."

Kael stepped closer.

Looking into the chasm.

"At least we didn't make things worse."

Aurelia looked at the path.

Which now glowed faintly.

Stable.

But not yet finished.

"We've only opened the way."

She said.

"Not completed it."

Silence.

But this time.

Everyone understood.

Their journey had grown more complex.

No longer just about facing enemies.

But about making choices.

And every choice.

Would shape a new world.

Aurelia stepped back.

Her gaze remained on the path.

"Next…"

She said softly.

"…we have to follow this."

Ragnar grinned.

"Wherever it leads."

Kael nodded.

"There's no other choice."

Orion looked at the path one more time.

Then at Aurelia.

"You lead."

Aurelia did not answer.

But she turned.

Walking.

Following the path she had created herself.

And behind them.

The vortex continued to spin.

But now.

In a different direction.
