Chapter 96 - CHAPTER 96

The sky over the western lands changed color.

Clouds that were once gray were now filled with swirling silver-black energy flashes, like a storm vortex. The ground shook harder, as if the earth itself was trying to warn them of what was to come.

In the middle of the field, the Council Leader stood unhurried.

His hand was still slightly raised.

The energy he was gathering was not just an attack.

It was like a curse ready to destroy the entire region.

Aurelia felt it to her bones.

If that energy was released, it wouldn't just be their forces that would die. The entire western lands the village, the forest, and the wolves who didn't join the fight would vanish in a single explosion.

Darius stood in front of Aurelia.

His large Lycan body was covered in wounds, but his claws remained firmly planted in the ground.

"I won't let him touch you again," he growled.

Lucien stood to the left, his breathing heavy.

Blood still dripped from his shoulder, a mark from the attack that had struck him earlier.

"If that attack is released," he said quietly, "it won't just be Aurelia who dies. We'll all be buried with her."

Rhydan grinned even as blood streamed from his forehead.

"If we die, at least we'll go down biting their throats."

Cassian stared at the whirling sky.

"This isn't an ordinary attack."

Alaric finally spoke in a low voice.

"He's not just trying to kill us."

Everyone turned to look at him.

"He's trying to erase this region from the map."

Aurelia clenched her fists.

She already knew.

The resonance inside her pulsed violently.

As if something older was awakening.

The Council Leader stared at them from afar.

His gaze fell on Aurelia.

"I'm curious," he said in a calm voice that, strangely enough, still rang clear amid the roar of energy.

"What will you do, Luna who rejects the old world?"

Aurelia stepped forward.

Darius immediately tried to stop her.

"Don't."

"Darius…"

"You've done enough already," he cut in sharply.

His golden eyes were filled with undisguised worry.

"This time let us take the lead."

Aurelia looked at him.

Then at the others.

Lucien.

Rhydan.

Alaric.

Cassian.

They all stood there.

Wounded.

Tired.

But still ready to fight.

Her heart felt warm and painful at the same time.

"If that attack is released," she said softly, "you won't be able to stop it."

Silence fell for a few seconds.

Because they knew it was true.

Aurelia took a deep breath.

"I might be able to."

All eyes immediately turned to her.

Lucien furrowed his brow.

"You've never tried anything this big before."

"That's right."

"And if you fail?"

Aurelia smiled faintly.

"If I fail, we all die."

Rhydan let out a short laugh.

"Quite the cheerful set of options."

But Alaric looked at Aurelia more deeply.

"This isn't just about power, is it?"

Aurelia didn't answer.

Because the answer was more complicated than that.

She could feel something else inside her.

A source of energy she had never touched before.

If she opened that door…

She didn't know if she could close it again.

The Council Leader seemed to be savoring the moment.

"Ah," he said lightly. "Sacrifice."

The energy in the sky grew larger.

The vortex now looked like a storm eye ready to descend.

Darius finally spoke quietly,

"If you do this… you won't do it alone."

Aurelia turned to him.

"What do you mean?"

Darius stepped forward.

He stood right beside her.

"I am Alpha."

Lucien scoffed.

"Not just you."

He moved forward too.

Rhydan followed after him.

"If we die, at least we die together."

Cassian shrugged.

"We've come too far to turn back now."

Alaric closed the circle.

Five Alphas stood surrounding Aurelia.

Aurelia looked at them with slightly widened eyes.

"You don't have to.."

"We know," Lucien said.

"But we choose to anyway."

The resonance in Aurelia's body pulsed stronger.

She realized something.

The bond between them was not just a mate connection.

Not just an alliance.

It was a web of power.

If they united…

Their energy could become something that had never existed before.

Aurelia closed her eyes.

"Alright."

She placed her hands on the ground.

Warm energy began to spread from her body.

"Then listen to me."

The five Alphas focused on her.

"We won't hold back the attack."

Lucien furrowed his brow.

"Then what?"

"We'll shatter it."

The Council Leader finally moved his hand.

The energy in the sky fell like a burning star.

A pillar of destruction descended from the heavens.

The air split apart.

The ground cracked open.

But in the middle of the field…

Aurelia opened her eyes.

Golden light blazed within them.

"Now!"

The five Alphas unleashed their auras simultaneously.

Darius was like a mountain rising up.

Lucien was like a sharp storm.

Rhydan was like wild fire.

Cassian was like shadow consuming light.

Alaric was like an unshakable stone wall.

Their energy flowed into Aurelia.

Resonance exploded out from her body.

Golden light spread across the entire field.

The wounded wolves suddenly felt strength return to their bodies.

The western lands' forces rose again.

The pillar of destruction from the sky collided with Aurelia's resonance wave.

The impact created a blinding flash of light.

The sky seemed to split open.

The ground shook like a great earthquake.

The Council Leader finally looked shocked.

"Impossible…"

The energy he had sent began to crack.

Aurelia shouted out.

Her resonance surged higher.

The five Alphas held on with her.

Cracks appeared in the pillar of destruction.

One.

Two.

Then.

BOOM!

The energy shattered in the air like giant glass.

A wave of light swept across the entire field.

The storm clouds vanished.

The sky slowly calmed again.

Silence fell over the battlefield.

All eyes turned to one spot.

Aurelia stood in the center of the Alpha circle.

Her body trembled.

But she still stood.

The Council Leader looked at her with a different expression now.

No longer just curiosity.

But something more serious.

A hint of fear.

"So… this is what they feared," he murmured.

Aurelia stared back at him.

Though her body was tired, her eyes remained sharp.

"You can't stop change."

The old man smiled faintly.

"Not today."

He raised his hand.

The remaining Council members stepped back.

Dark mist began to envelop them.

But before he truly left…

He looked at Aurelia one more time.

"This battle has only just begun, Luna."

The mist swallowed them whole.

And within seconds…

They were gone.

The battlefield fell silent at last.

The western lands' forces still stood.

But everyone knew one thing.

The real war had only just begun.

Aurelia nearly collapsed.

Darius caught her before her body touched the ground.

"Are you alright?" he asked quickly.

Aurelia smiled weakly.

"For now."

But deep inside her…

The resonance she had unleashed still pulsed.

She felt something within her had truly awakened.
