Chapter 76 - The Battle Begins

A green light hit Adrian's original position. The low, hoarse voice echoed through the hall.

With excellent reflexes, Adrian had already made an evasive move before Voldemort waved his wand.

He didn't know if it was because of the blood fusion, but Adrian felt his physical strength and various abilities had increased to some extent. His body seemed lighter.

Voldemort, possessing Quirrell, waved his wand in disappointment and was about to cast the spell again. But at that moment, Harry rushed toward his position.

"Get out of the way!" Voldemort, unrecognizable with not a single good patch of flesh on his body, kicked Harry away.

If his condition were intact, Voldemort might still be in the mood to play with the two young wizards before him, admiring their desperate expressions. But this body was suffering severe pain constantly. He had no patience.

The hard-hit Harry lay on the ground, clutching his stomach and nearly vomiting up his lunch. Trying to get up with difficulty, he vaguely saw something in the Mirror of Erised behind Voldemort. Another version of himself was lying on the ground, winking at him and putting a stone-like irregular object into his robe pocket.

Harry felt something hard in his pocket. He guessed what it was, but didn't have time to check because he saw Voldemort raise his wand and aim it at him.

"Incendio!" At the critical moment, Adrian, who'd recovered his bearings, released a fire curse at Voldemort.

The tongue of flame rising out of thin air surrounded Voldemort, but Adrian as the caster wasn't happy at all.

The situation had completely spiraled out of his control. Adrian wasn't sure whether he could defeat Voldemort, even in his weakened state, with his current strength.

The fire curse only delayed him for less than a second. A large black mist emerged from Voldemort's broken body, directly extinguishing the rising flames.

Voldemort's face became even more distorted. He spoke with fury.

"Fire Curse... So it was you!"

Earlier, he'd felt Adrian's voice seemed familiar. Now he was certain that the young wizard before him was the one who'd harmed him so badly!

"What if I said it was actually an accident that day? Would you believe me?" Adrian said with a wide grin.

He was greeted by another green light. Harry wasn't doing well either, because the black mist spreading around Voldemort had already poured toward him, so fast he couldn't escape.

"Adrian, I'll stop him! You run!" Harry gritted his teeth and threw the Philosopher's Stone from his pocket toward Adrian in the distance. Then he forced himself up, rushing into the black mist and running toward Voldemort as if embracing death.

He knew that Adrian had drunk plenty of fire-resistance potion, and the effect could last a long time. He was the only one among them who could cross the black flames again. With Adrian's strength, he could definitely pass the raging chessboard easily and give the Stone to Dumbledore to prevent Voldemort from resurrecting.

Adrian caught what Harry had thrown instinctively. Only after catching it did he see it was the Philosopher's Stone.

When he looked back, Adrian found that Harry had been overcome by the black mist and collapsed on the ground, unconscious. Voldemort didn't even bother finishing him off. His burning eyes stared directly at the irregular stone in Adrian's hand.

'Harry, you actually set me up!'

Adrian was furious. The most important battle force had just fainted. He was left alone. How could he fight this battle?

At that moment, the system reminder sounded.

[Ding!]

[Obtained the Philosopher's Stone. Mission to obtain the Philosopher's Stone has been updated!]

[Mission goal: Hold on for five minutes or eliminate Quirrell (Voldemort)]

[Reward: Alchemy knowledge]

[Task reminder: Headmaster Dumbledore is on his way to support. Approximately... five minutes away...]

"Go to hell with your Dumbledore! You'll die if you use teleportation to get here?" Adrian finally couldn't help but explode.

Thinking about all his hard work these days for the school, and Dumbledore was treating him like this, Adrian really wanted to strangle the old man.

Hearing Adrian mention Dumbledore, Voldemort paused for a moment, even ignoring the Philosopher's Stone to look around fearfully.

But then Voldemort's face darkened, because he sensed there were no other person around.

And if Dumbledore were nearby, he'd already be dead.

"It seems Dumbledore hasn't told you that protection magic has been applied within Hogwarts. No one can use teleportation here." Voldemort laughed at Adrian's ignorance.

Adrian rolled his eyes. He thought Voldemort was very naive to believe Dumbledore's nonsense. No wonder the future would be so miserable for him.

That old schemer played everyone for fools. In the future, displacement magic would be used in Hogwarts more than once, even teleporting with other people.

After all, Dumbledore was the Headmaster of Hogwarts and had privileges no one else possessed.

"Hand over the Philosopher's Stone!" Voldemort stretched out his dry, charred arm and stepped closer to Adrian hiding behind cover. The five fingers on his palm had only a thin layer of skin attached to the bones. It looked disgusting.

This broken body made Voldemort unable to run. Even walking and moving quickly was difficult.

Adrian shook his head firmly. He didn't think Voldemort would let him go just by handing over the Stone.

"Accio Philosopher's Stone!" Voldemort lost the last trace of patience and waved his wand at the Stone in Adrian's hand.

The irregular stone trembled in Adrian's palm, but to his surprise, the Philosopher's Stone shook twice and stopped. It didn't fly out of his grasp.

Voldemort hadn't expected this either, but immediately felt excited. This showed that the magic power contained in the Philosopher's Stone was far beyond his imagination. Otherwise it would be impossible to resist his summoning charm at such close distance.

So relying on the power of the Philosopher's Stone might really resurrect him!

"Avis!" Adrian didn't waste Voldemort's brief moment of distraction. Under the wave of his wand, the gravel underneath transformed into flocks of crows and shot toward Voldemort.

The birds were just Adrian's means to restrict Voldemort's movements, followed by a brilliant purple light.

Unfortunately, with heart-stopping magical flames gushing from the tip of Voldemort's wand, the flocks of birds all turned to ash under the fierce fire. The brilliant purple light was also blocked by the thick black mist around Voldemort.
