"I don't want you to be here!"
I heard Rhys shout angrily at whosoever was standing at the front door. The aggression in his voice made me freeze in the middle of the hallway. I stood there wondering what could possibly be happening, who was at the door, and why it was taking so long for him to return to the living room. Out of pure curiosity, I decided to walk over and check for myself.
My eyes widened the exact second I rounded the corner and saw who was standing on our doorstep.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I demanded, my voice instantly dropping into a harsh tone as I moved closer, stepping up to stand just behind Rhys's protective frame.
"She was just leaving," Rhys responded immediately, his broad shoulders shifting as he completely blocked her line of sight to me. "There is absolutely no reason for her to be here," he stated firmly.
