The news came as a shock to me as soon as the coach announced it. Kayden was revealed to be a bully during his time with the Westbridge Falcons, but I knew all of that was a lie.
There was no way he would have ever done that.
But I didn't have the chance to speak to him, to ask him questions, or to make sure that he was alright before he bolted out of the locker room.
I had wanted to rush after him, but Miller stopped me.
"What the hell, Miller? I need to find out where he is and—"
Miller shook his head at me, cutting me off. He pointed toward the entrance and then back at me. "The press is everywhere, probably waiting for us so they can ask questions. Leave Kayden; at least until we are out of the press's reach."
