Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: Finals

The harsh fluorescent light of the VIP lounge bathroom stall flickered slightly as Enzo sat completely still. The usually deafening roar of the massive Cerulean Stadium crowd was reduced to a heavy and rhythmic vibration that pulsed constantly through the cold tile floor beneath his feet.

He closed his eyes and tried to steady his breathing while his mind obsessively replayed the blinding red System Alert warning him about the Sinnoh Champion. He thought deeply about the terrifying implications of that fatal threat and what it could mean for his future, but he ruthlessly forced those chaotic thoughts to the absolute back of his mind. He knew he simply could not solve the situation regarding Cynthia or George today, and allowing himself to be distracted by an untouchable Champion right now would completely ruin everything he had sacrificed to reach this exact moment.

As he focused his mind entirely on the impending finals, a sudden wave of profound reflection washed over him in the quiet darkness. He remembered his meaningless past life in he was an absolute nobody who treated Pokémon as nothing more than tools. He confessed to himself that he used to be a remarkably cold and disconnected person, but he also realized with absolute certainty that he was no longer that man.

His hands were trembling slightly with nervous anticipation, but for the very first time since waking up in this incredibly dangerous universe, he did not feel completely alone. He genuinely trusted the fierce monsters resting quietly inside the Poké Balls attached to his belt, and he finally accepted the undeniable truth that even if he lost this massive battle today, he would simply continue to grow and adapt alongside his partners. He channeled all of his nervous energy into pure and unadulterated ambition while making a solemn vow to himself. Even if he suffered a crushing defeat in the dirt of the arena today, he would make sure that in the future, he became powerful enough so he would never have to hide from anyone inside a pathetic bathroom stall ever again.

Enzo took one final and incredibly deep breath to completely calm his racing heartbeat and center his focus. He kept his eyes closed as the familiar and silky presence of Sabrina's telepathic voice suddenly materialized and echoed through the quiet space of his mind.

"Enzo. It is time. Go get that win."

Enzo opened his eyes to reveal a gaze filled with cold and absolute determination as he projected his thoughts back to the powerful psychic.

"Thank you."

Enzo unlocked the heavy wooden door of the restroom and stepped out into the expansive VIP lounge to find that the previously suffocating crowd had completely vanished. The wealthy executives, the annoying reporters, and the team of Devon bodyguards had all retreated to their exclusive viewing cabins to watch the match in absolute comfort. The only person remaining in the quiet waiting area was Steven Stone, who was standing perfectly still near the entrance of the dark competitor tunnel that led directly to the battlefield. The heavy and muffled vibration Enzo felt inside the bathroom was now a loud and continuous roar echoing down the concrete corridor as thousands of fans screamed their lungs out in the massive stadium above.

Enzo looked across the empty room and immediately noticed that Steven was completely calm with an impeccable posture that radiated a sense of natural authority, but Enzo kept his chin high and absolutely refused to back down from the overwhelming challenge standing in front of him. He walked steadily toward the tunnel entrance and stopped just a few feet away from his wealthy opponent to share a brief moment of mutual respect before the absolute chaos of the finals began.

Enzo stopped beside the Hoenn heir and allowed a genuine smile of camaraderie to finally break through his serious facade.

"Good luck out there, Steven," Enzo said warmly.

Steven let out a soft chuckle and offered him a deeply respectful nod before playfully adjusting the cuffs of his expensive jacket.

"To you as well, and please do not hold anything back," Steven replied with a bright and encouraging smile as they both turned to walk side by side down the dark corridor toward the blinding lights of the arena.

The broadcast camera shifted directly from the dark competitor tunnels out to the center of the massive sunlit stadium, where Daisy, the current Water-type Gym Leader of Cerulean City, stood enthusiastically at the main commentator desk.

"CERULEANNN! Are you ready?!" Daisy screamed into her microphone with a bright smile as her voice echoed powerfully across the packed stands.

The crowd responded with a deafening roar of approval before she raised her hand to officially introduce her two highly esteemed guest commentators for the finals.

"Joining me at the desk today is the imposing Electric-type master from Vermilion City, Lt. Surge, alongside our incredibly knowledgeable guest from the Hoenn region, Professor Birch!" Daisy announced as the audience delivered a massive wave of applause for the two men.

However, the festive and chaotic atmosphere shifted drastically when Daisy lowered her microphone slightly, and her expression turned incredibly serious.

"But before we begin this magnificent spectacle today, I must ask every single person in attendance to please join me in a full minute of absolute silence to honor the horrific tragedy that recently struck Pallet Town," Daisy spoke with a deeply emotional and steady voice that completely silenced the roaring stadium. "Innocent lives were tragically lost, and precious memories were completely destroyed at the hands of a black-hearted criminal organization, so we can only hope that swift justice will soon bring some measure of peace to all the devastated families affected by this senseless violence."

The entire stadium fell into a heavy and solemn silence for exactly one minute as thousands of people respectfully bowed their heads in mourning. When the minute finally passed, Daisy took a deep breath and flawlessly transitioned back into the role of a spectacular host by raising her voice to hype up the eagerly waiting crowd.

"Thank you very much, Cerulean, and now please allow me to present our highly anticipated finalists for today!" Daisy shouted dramatically while pointing toward the right side of the arena. "First, we have the absolute favorite of the tournament, the shining jewel of the Hoenn region, and the brilliant heir to the Devon Corporation, so please make some noise for STEVEN STONEEE!"

The stadium instantly exploded into a frenzy of cheers as thousands of dedicated fangirls screamed their lungs out, watching the silver-haired Hoenn prodigy step out of the dark tunnel and walk into the blinding sunlight with impeccable class and an elegant wave to his supporters. Daisy waited patiently for the overwhelming climate to settle down just enough before she raised her voice even higher to announce the second competitor.

"And our second finalist is a brilliant trainer who has completely infected us all with a brand new and respectful way of looking at misunderstood Dark-type Pokémon!" Daisy screamed with absolute pride as the crowd began to rumble with anticipation. "He is a proud competitor from our very own beloved Cerulean City and the undisputed Hero of Pallet Town, so I want this entire stadium to make some noise for ENZO VANCE!"

The massive stadium practically came crashing down under the sheer weight of the deafening noise as Kanto fans and Cerulean locals entered a complete trance of pure and unadulterated hype. Enzo stepped out of the shadows and walked confidently onto the dirt battlefield, looking perfectly calm and collected as he kept one hand resting casually in his pocket while raising the other in a simple and measured wave to thank the massive crowd for their overwhelming love without a single ounce of unnecessary exaggeration.

Enzo and Steven took their respective places on opposite sides of the massive dirt battlefield as the roaring crowd finally began to settle down in anticipation of the upcoming clash. Daisy's voice echoed clearly through the stadium speakers once again to officially announce the specific mechanics of the tournament match, explaining that the finals would be fought in a standard Single Battle format with a very strict limit of exactly two manual tactical switches allowed per trainer. She made sure to clarify for the audience that regular substitutions following a knocked-out Pokémon would remain completely unrestricted before turning her attention directly to the two competitors standing below. Daisy asked both trainers if they fully understood the rules of the final round, prompting Enzo and Steven to nod in perfect unison as they turned to face each other with intense focus.

The broadcast camera smoothly transitioned to the commentator's desk, where Professor Birch leaned into his microphone to offer his professional analysis on the impending battle.

"Most of our leading analysts firmly point to Steven Stone as the heavy favorite to win this tournament today because his ace Metagross is an absolute monster that has not fallen a single time during competitions," Professor Birch explained with a confident and scholarly tone.

Lt. Surge immediately slammed his massive hand down onto the desk with a loud thud and let out a booming laugh that completely challenged the Hoenn researcher.

"That prediction is an absolute joke because everyone constantly claimed Enzo was going to lose his previous matches due to his severe type disadvantages, and now that my kid finally brings a clear type advantage to the finals, nobody seems to care about it anymore!" Lt. Surge argued passionately as he defended the Kanto prodigy.

Professor Birch shook his head politely and adjusted his posture before offering a swift and logical counterargument to the Electric-type master.

"The main problem for Enzo is not merely a matter of type advantage, but rather the terrifying reality that Steven possesses a remarkably powerful pseudo-legendary Pokémon alongside vastly superior battle experience and an absolutely excellent ability to read his opponent's combat strategies," Professor Birch countered smoothly.

Daisy quickly intervened with a bright smile to defend the narrative of her hometown underdog before the debate could escalate any further.

"I truly believe this match will be entirely different because Enzo has consistently demonstrated incredible tactical adaptation and absolute calmness under pressure, and he is going to use that intelligent type advantage perfectly in his favor today," Daisy stated with unwavering confidence.

Professor Birch smiled warmly at the Gym Leader and respectfully nodded his head in agreement with her passionate defense of the local hero.

"Well then, it seems that either way we are absolutely guaranteed to witness a truly magnificent spectacle here today," Professor Birch concluded happily.

The massive stadium vibrated with pure excitement as the official referee standing at the edge of the battlefield raised his arm high into the air and swung it down with absolute authority.

"Begin!" the referee shouted at the top of his lungs to officially start the final battle.

Both trainers locked eyes across the massive dirt arena and smoothly tossed their first Poké Balls into the air at the exact same time. Skarmory materialized first and instantly established a commanding presence in the air as the metallic bird let out a piercing screech. A fraction of a second later, Krookodile erupted onto the battlefield, and the terrifying presence of the dark reptile immediately activated the Intimidate ability to cause a visible dark aura to wash over the steel bird and drop its physical attack power. Enzo clicked his tongue in genuine irritation because he fully expected the Hoenn heir to open the match with a heavy physical brawler like Aggron or Armaldo to test the waters. Steven, however, looked completely in his element and ignored the offensive pressure entirely because he knew a ground brawler could not cleanly touch his flying Pokémon. Instead of attacking directly, Steven calmly ordered Skarmory to scatter a dense layer of jagged steel Spikes all across Enzo's side of the battlefield. Enzo watched his massive dark reptile struggle to maneuver around the painful hazards and instantly realized he had made a severe tactical error by leading with a ground attacker against a dedicated flying control opener. Feeling the intense pressure of the finals but absolutely refusing to look lost, Enzo made the swift decision to burn his first manual switch and recalled his frustrated partner back into its Poké Ball to reposition his strategy.

"That is an incredibly bad start and a completely unlucky first draw for the boy because wasting one of his two precious manual substitutions this early in the match puts him at a massive tactical disadvantage," Lt. Surge grumbled into his microphone with obvious frustration at the opening play.

"Calm down and look at the broader tactical picture, Lieutenant, because at least Krookodile successfully dropped the physical attack of Skarmory with its Intimidate ability before leaving the dirt," Professor Birch replied smoothly to defend the Kanto prodigy. "Furthermore, the fact that Enzo is willing to switch right here instead of stubbornly fighting a losing battle shows us that he is absolutely not afraid to act decisively under the immense pressure of the finals."

"Now let us see what exactly our local hero brings to the field to turn this difficult situation around!" Daisy shouted enthusiastically into her microphone to hype up the massive crowd as Enzo pulled his second Poké Ball from his belt.

The massive stadium crowd fell into a state of deep confusion when Enzo surprisingly sent out his clearly Deino to face the terrifying steel bird. The small dragon materialized on the battlefield and immediately flinched as the jagged Spikes cut deeply into its skin, but Enzo did not hesitate for a single second as he ordered Deino to completely ignore Skarmory and focus entirely on tearing through the hazard layer. Deino obeyed with absolute loyalty and thrashed violently through the spikes while unleashing wild and untamed bursts of Dark-type energy that completely shattered the steel hazards and filled the arena floor with a thick and lingering dark residue. The little dragon took brutal and agonizing punishment from the environmental trap in the process before Skarmory finally swooped down and landed a clean finishing hit to knock Deino out completely. The commentators gasped at the brutal exchange, but Lt. Surge slammed his hands together in pure excitement as he realized before anyone else that the young dragon was not useless at all, but rather a brilliant tactical and emotional sacrifice that perfectly seeded the battlefield with dark energy while forcing Steven to reveal the true tempo of his defensive strategy.

Enzo capitalized on the cleared battlefield by sending out a Pokémon that perfectly resembled his terrifying ace Houndoom, causing a massive wave of shocked whispers to ripple through the packed stadium. Steven narrowed his silver eyes in deep suspicion because his excellent combat instincts told him it made absolutely no sense for Enzo to reveal his most powerful weapon so early while Metagross remained hidden in the back. Steven decided to keep Skarmory in the air to carefully test the dark fire hound, but Enzo remained perfectly calm with his hands in his pockets as he ordered a Flamethrower attack without a single ounce of hesitation. The disguised Zoroark flawlessly utilized the expensive Technical Machine that Enzo had specifically purchased in preparation for this exact steel-heavy matchup and unleashed a devastatingly bright stream of flames that caught Skarmory completely off guard. The superheated blast melted the heavy steel bird right out of the sky, and before the burning Skarmory could even attempt to recover its altitude, the fake Houndoom lunged forward with terrifying speed to unleash a brutal and point-blank Dark Pulse directly from its jaws to completely crush the remaining armor and secure the immediate knockout. As Skarmory fainted in the dirt, the crowd erupted into utter chaos while Steven stood momentarily shaken and completely questioning his own brilliant judgment, truly wondering for a fleeting second if he was actually facing the real Houndoom.

"Wow, what an absolutely incredible counter from Enzo to immediately tie the game back up!" Daisy screamed into her microphone as the massive crowd erupted into cheers around her.

"That was a perfectly executed Flamethrower right out of the gate, and now we are looking at an even three against three battle!" Lt. Surge cheered with a massive grin as he watched the burning steel bird fall.

"A truly fantastic tactical response to clear the air, though revealing his ultimate ace this early still remains an incredibly bold decision against someone like Steven Stone," Professor Birch added smoothly while analyzing the ruined battlefield.

Knowing he needed to apply immediate physical pressure to crush the terrifying fire-type threat, Steven sent out his towering Armaldo to completely dominate the center of the arena. Enzo reacted instantly by utilizing his second and final manual switch to recall his disguised Zoroark and bring Krookodile roaring back onto the dirt. The Intimidate ability activated once again to significantly weaken Armaldo's physical power right before the two massive monsters collided in the exact kind of ugly and close-range brawl that Krookodile absolutely craved. They traded incredibly heavy blows in a brutal test of pure strength, but Krookodile's terrifying ground pressure and raw feral ferocity completely overwhelmed the ancient bug type until a final devastating strike knocked Armaldo out cold. Steven instantly hardened his expression and sent out his heavily armored Aggron to stop the rampaging beast, turning the match into a grueling war of attrition between two massive tanks. Krookodile fought like an absolute warrior and managed to land real damage through the thick steel plating, but the accumulated fatigue and painful chip damage from the earlier clashes finally caught up to the dark reptile, allowing Aggron to win the brutal exchange and send the exhausted Krookodile crashing to the ground.

Enzo confidently sent his disguised Zoroark back out onto the battlefield in the exact same shape as a terrifying Houndoom to face the heavily armored Aggron. Steven still firmly believed he was looking at the Kanto prodigy's ultimate ace and braced himself for an overwhelming offensive assault, completely unaware that he was still being manipulated. However, Enzo ordered the disguised fox to utilize brilliant wear-down tactics instead of risking a direct physical confrontation against the massive steel behemoth. The fake Houndoom danced around the injured Aggron like a lethal knife fighter and utilized impossible speed to avoid the desperate strikes while launching multiple precise Flamethrower attacks to continuously scorch and melt the thick metallic plating. With every rapid evasion and superheated blast of fire, Zoroark deliberately released even more oppressive dark energy into the arena to further contaminate the battlefield for the impending climax. After a beautifully drawn-out and grueling exchange of rapid hit-and-run maneuvers, Zoroark landed one final concentrated blast of fire that finally brought the towering Aggron crashing down heavily into the dirt. The disguised fox remained standing on the ruined battlefield, but it was visibly injured and panting heavily from the intense exhaustion of wearing down the Hoenn tank. Steven looked across the arena at the tired dark fire hound and offered Enzo a short nod of genuine respect.

"Well played. But this is not over," Steven said with a calm but remarkably cold tone.

Steven finally reached for his last Poké Ball and unleashed his ultimate ace, causing a blinding flash of light to erupt on the battlefield that revealed a breathtakingly rare shiny Metagross with a gleaming silver body and a massive golden cross stretching across its metallic face. The entire atmosphere of the stadium instantly shifted as the terrifying pressure pressed down on the arena, causing the massive crowd to completely lose their minds and erupt into an absolutely deafening roar of pure euphoria as they screamed in wild excitement at the magnificent sight of the giant steel spider.

Enzo felt an overwhelming temptation to channel his psychic energy and activate his System to carefully scan the terrifying stats of the pseudo-legendary standing before him. He ruthlessly crushed that dangerous desire immediately because he knew thousands of eyes were currently locked onto him, and he was deeply terrified that the highly experienced trainers watching from the VIP cabins might detect his abnormal psychic fluctuations if he dared to use his powers openly.

Forcing his mind back into the battle, Enzo ordered his exhausted and heavily disguised Zoroark to launch another Flamethrower as a desperate bait tactic to test the waters. The superheated fire struck the silver behemoth directly, but Steven's sharp eyes instantly noticed the severely lacking damage output, and the Hoenn heir finally began to realize with absolute certainty that he was not actually looking at a real Houndoom. Sensing his opponent figuring out the deception, Enzo rapidly commanded the disguised fox to unleash a series of debuffing moves to weaken the physical parameters of the steel giant, but almost all of those desperate attempts completely failed as they harmlessly bounced off.

With absolutely no other viable options left for his exhausted partner, Enzo commanded the disguised Pokémon to unleash its true signature move as an ultimate last resort. The fake Houndoom violently erupted with a massive Night Daze that completely flooded the entire arena with a giant and oppressive cloud of lingering Dark-type energy. Steven looked through the thick, dark fog with a knowing smile and confidently commanded a devastating Focus Punch to finally end the charade. Metagross closed the distance with terrifying and unnatural speed before bringing its massive silver limb crashing down with unimaginable physical force to completely crush the disguised fox into the dirt.

As the Pokémon lost consciousness, the optical camouflage violently shattered into glowing fragments of light to finally reveal the grinning Zoroark beneath to the entire world. The massive stadium erupted into a collective gasp of pure shock as the audience realized the terrifying truth that Enzo had not even used his real Houndoom yet.

"I must admit that I strongly suspected something was incredibly wrong because the Flamethrower we just witnessed felt far too weak to belong to the monstrous Houndoom we have seen completely dominate this tournament!" Professor Birch exclaimed into his microphone with a tone of absolute amazement as he praised the brilliant tactical deception.

Enzo threw his final Poké Ball into the air, and as the true Houndoom stepped onto the completely ruined battlefield, the massive stadium erupted into a deafening roar of absolute euphoria to welcome the terrifying ace.

The dark fire hound immediately locked its glowing crimson eyes onto the giant silver Metagross and unleashed an incredibly deep and rumbling growl that perfectly conveyed its lethal intent to the entire arena.

Enzo looked steadily at his powerful partner and spoke with quiet but absolute conviction as he told Houndoom that he completely believed in him. Ever since their grueling survival on the island, Houndoom had slowly begun to accept Enzo as a worthy master, but through the countless agonizing hours of dedication and brutal training leading up to this exact tournament, their bond had forged into something truly unbreakable. The dark Pokémon could genuinely feel exactly what this monumental battle meant to its trainer, causing its feral resolve to surge to absolute maximum capacity as it visibly absorbed all of the lingering dark residue left behind on the field to massively boost its own terrifying power.

Without waiting for a single command, Houndoom opened the final clash by unleashing a massively overcharged Dark Pulse that tore across the arena floor. Steven instantly recognized that the amplified attack would cause critical damage and completely refused to let his ace take that hit, urgently commanding Metagross to use Protect. The shiny steel spider generated a brilliant energy shield that successfully absorbed the vast majority of the impact, but the sheer terrifying force of the dark energy still managed to pierce through the barrier and inflict a noticeable amount of residual damage.

Houndoom absolutely refused to give the iron monster a single second to rest and immediately followed up by firing a devastating Flamethrower directly at the Hoenn ace. Metagross took the superheated blast head-on and took a massive amount of damage from the super effective strike, but the incredibly durable pseudo-legendary proved exactly why it was a terrifying tank by remaining firmly planted on the ground. Metagross retaliated with a brutal Meteor Mash that missed by a fraction of an inch as Houndoom utilized its feral and unpredictable agility to violently dodge the massive swinging steel limbs for an agonizingly long period of time.

Houndoom attempted to break the relentless assault by launching another Dark Pulse, but Metagross mathematically calculated the trajectory to smoothly dodge the attack before lunging forward with a devastating Focus Punch. Steven watched the heavy exchange and clearly noticed that his prized Metagross was finally beginning to slow down from the accumulated exhaustion and the massive damage it had sustained from both Zoroark and Houndoom. Deciding to finish the grueling battle right then and there with absolute overwhelming force, Steven commanded Metagross to use Magnet Rise to levitate its massive silver body high above the ruined battlefield before ordering a crushing Body Press to flatten the dark hound with its entire terrifying weight.

As the levitating steel behemoth dropped violently from the sky to execute the Body Press, Houndoom firmly planted its paws into the dirt and unleashed an absolutely gigantic and full-powered Flamethrower directly upward into the descending supercomputer. The violent collision of the crushing physical force and the superheated flames created a massive explosion that shook the entire stadium and covered the battlefield in a thick cloud of dark smoke. The millions of people watching around the world held their collective breath in total silence as the heavy smoke slowly began to clear away, eventually revealing Houndoom proudly standing on its feet while the magnificent shiny Metagross lay completely defeated and unconscious on the ruined dirt.

For one agonizingly long and heavy second after the thick dark smoke finally cleared to reveal the fallen shiny Metagross, an absolute silence of pure shock gripped the entire massive stadium. Then the world completely shattered as tens of thousands of people simultaneously erupted into a deafening and earth-shaking roar of pure euphoria that vibrated violently deep within the concrete foundations of the arena. Brilliant showers of celebratory fireworks violently exploded into the clear blue sky above the open roof as the entire stadium dissolved into a chaotic sea of absolute madness and joy.

Up at the commentator booth, the reaction was nothing short of pure explosive pandemonium as all three hosts completely lost their professional composure. Daisy leaned completely over the desk with absolute joy radiating from her face and tears of genuine hometown pride streaming down her cheeks as she announced the official result to the roaring crowd with a massive and triumphant scream.

"Victory for ENZOOOO!" Daisy screamed into the microphone with every single ounce of breath in her lungs as the Cerulean locals in the stands went absolutely feral.

Lt. Surge was violently slamming his massive hands against the desk in pure unadulterated hype while a massive grin stretched across his scarred face, completely unable to contain his immense pride for Enzo.

Completely ignoring the absolute chaos erupting all around him and the deafening noise of his screaming fans, Enzo immediately dropped his calm facade and sprinted as fast as he could across the ruined dirt battlefield. He threw his arms around the thick neck of his exhausted dark fire hound in a fiercely protective and loving embrace as the terrifying Pokémon leaned heavily into his trainer's touch.

A single genuine tear of pure and overwhelming pride slipped down Enzo's cheek and fell into the dark fur as he pressed his forehead affectionately against his incredibly powerful partner.

"Thank you, partner. I knew you could do it," Enzo whispered softly with a voice full of profound gratitude as the fireworks continued to explode overhead.

Enzo gently pulled away from the fiercely loyal embrace of his exhausted partner and pulled out a Poké Ball to safely recall the dark fire hound back into its well-deserved rest in a bright flash of red light. He slowly stood up and dusted the dirt off his knees just as Steven elegantly navigated the completely ruined and violently scorched terrain of the battlefield to approach Enzo with a remarkably bright and genuine smile of pure respect on his elegant face.

Steven extended a firm hand to offer his absolute and sincere congratulations for the magnificently executed battle before leaning in slightly to whisper directly into Enzo's ear so the roaring stadium could not possibly hear their private exchange over the deafening noise of the fireworks.

"That was an absolutely magnificent battle, but just imagine the sheer scale of destruction we could have unleashed today if we both used Mega Evolutions," Steven whispered with a tone of deep excitement and profound respect for his new rival.

"In the future, I truly hope to have that match with you," Enzo replied smoothly with a confident smile that perfectly matched the ambitious energy of his opponent.

Even as he projected that unwavering confidence to Steven, Enzo knew deep down in his mind that he would have been absolutely cooked if Mega Stones were actually used in this fight, fully realizing that if Steven had been able to unleash the apocalyptic power of a Mega Aggron or a Mega Metagross onto the field today, his current team would have stood absolutely no chance of surviving the overwhelming destruction.

Completely unaware of Enzo's internal relief, Steven let out a bright laugh of pure joy before firmly grabbing Enzo's right arm and raising it high up into the air toward the open sky of the stadium to officially present the undisputed winner of the Cerulean Tournament to the entire world.

The massive crowd responded to the beautiful gesture of sportsmanship by erupting into an even louder and more deafening wave of absolute applause that shook the concrete foundations of the arena and completely solidified Enzo's absolute legitimacy as an elite trainer in the eyes of everyone watching across the globe.

The deafening roar of the massive crowd slowly began to settle into a steady rhythm of continuous applause as Daisy leaned back into her microphone with a brilliant smile of absolute pride shining warmly on her face. The Cerulean City Gym Leader fiercely projected her voice across the stadium speakers to officially congratulate both Enzo and Steven for delivering a magnificent and truly unforgettable spectacle that would permanently cement itself into the prestigious history of Kanto competitive battling.

"This phenomenal battle will forever be remembered in the heart of Cerulean City as an absolute masterpiece of tactical brilliance and raw unwavering power!" Daisy announced proudly with her voice echoing beautifully across the entire stadium to exalt her beloved hometown.

Far above the ruined dirt of the battlefield inside the luxurious climate-controlled environment of the exclusive VIP cabins overlooking the arena, a profound sense of awe and utter fascination washed over the assembled elite guests as they all stood up to deliver a resounding standing ovation. Wealthy corporate executives and powerful political figures smiled warmly while clapping their hands in genuine admiration for the incredible display of combat mastery they had just witnessed on the field below.

However, within that pristine and elegant room completely filled with bright smiles and cheerful celebrations, there were exactly two individuals who absolutely refused to join in the overwhelming wave of applause. Julian stood completely frozen near the expensive catered tables with his hands clenched into incredibly tight fists of pure rage, his face pale and contorted into a deeply ugly mask of bitter humiliation as the arrogant son of the wealthy Silph Co shareholder stared down at the Kanto boy who had completely stolen the absolute spotlight he foolishly believed rightfully belonged to him. Standing just a few steps away in the quiet shadows of the luxury box was the terrifyingly calm and calculating Cynthia, who did not even bother to look down at the celebrating trainers on the battlefield because her piercing eyes were already completely locked onto the furious and emotionally vulnerable Julian with a terrifyingly patient gaze

Unable to endure another single second of the deafening applause echoing through the luxurious VIP box, Julian violently stormed out of the brightly lit room to seek refuge in the quiet and dimly lit corridors of the stadium, where Cynthia eventually found him leaning heavily against the cold concrete wall with pure unadulterated hate burning intensely within his eyes. The elegant blonde woman smoothly detached herself from the shadows and approached him with the silent grace of an apex predator before speaking softly to deliberately startle the furious corporate heir.

"You know," Cynthia whispered, "I don't agree with the way they're glorifying that orphan. What he did to you in the first round—and the position he left you in afterward—was inhuman."

Julian flinched and turned at once, only to find the Sinnoh Champion standing behind him. His posture collapsed immediately, and he gave her a stiff, nervous bow.

Cynthia smiled with practised sympathy and placed a hand on his shoulder, stilling him.

"There's no need for that," she said. "I've heard a great deal about you and your family. A son of one of Silph's major shareholders should not be hiding here like this."

The words slipped neatly through the cracks in Julian's pride.

"That may be true," he muttered, "but ever since that public loss, my father hasn't said a word to me. At this rate, he'll hand his shares to my older brothers."

Cynthia tilted her head, her expression calm and attentive.

"And why would he do that, if you're just as capable as they are?"

Julian lowered his gaze.

"I am capable. But Silph's market value has been falling ever since Devon started pushing deeper into Kanto. My family needs to project strength, and after what happened…" He clenched his jaw. "They don't think I can represent that anymore."

A faint smile touched Cynthia's lips.

"I see," she said softly. "So what you need is power. Enough to reclaim your pride—and remind your family what you're worth."

Julian looked up sharply.

Cynthia slipped a sleek black card into his hand.

"I believe I can help with that."

For a moment, he simply stared at her, hope and resentment mixing in his eyes. Cynthia turned and walked away without waiting for thanks.

"I hope to hear from you soon," she said over her shoulder.

Julian remained in the corridor, staring at the card in his hand.

A wave of applause rolled through the stadium as the tournament staff assembled a podium at the centre of the ruined battlefield. Under the bright Lights, Enzo and Steven took their places while Daisy climbed the carpeted steps with the medals in hand.

She draped the gold medal around Enzo's neck, then handed each finalist a black envelope sealed in gold wax.

"As recognition for the brilliance and strength displayed here today," Daisy announced, her voice carrying across the arena, "the Kanto League is proud to invite both finalists to the upcoming quarterly Kanto League Auction. This event gathers some of the most influential figures in the world and offers access to rare items, technical machines, and valuable political contacts."

Steven accepted his envelope with a polite bow, already aware of the opportunities such an invitation could bring to Devon.

Then Daisy turned back to Enzo, holding up a crystalline badge.

"Congratulations, Enzo," she said, warm but composed. "Cerulean is proud of what you achieved today. What would you like to say to your fans?"

Enzo firmly gripped the microphone and looked out across the endless sea of cheering faces with a profoundly calm and mature expression that perfectly reflected the incredible journey he had endured.

"First of all, I want to deeply thank every single one of my fans and all the incredible people who gave me the absolute strength to keep pushing forward throughout this competition," Enzo began with a powerful and steady voice that echoed beautifully across the entire arena.

"I also need to express my most profound gratitude to Lt Surge for teaching me so much and for giving me this phenomenal opportunity to participate in this prestigious tournament in the first place," Enzo continued with genuine respect deeply embedded in his tone.

He paused for a brief moment to look affectionately down at the worn Poké Balls resting securely on his belt.

"I absolutely must thank my incredible Pokémon because they are my true companions who have fought fiercely by my side, and they have never once let me down when it truly mattered," Enzo declared passionately to the massive crowd.

His expression slowly darkened into a mask of absolute and terrifying resolve as he lifted his head to stare directly into the main broadcasting lens.

"Finally, I want to dedicate this victory to all the brave people of Pallet Town, and you can all rest completely assured that I have not forgotten my promise for a single second," Enzo stated with a significantly darker and incredibly resolute tone.

"After I take a brief moment to rest and recover my strength, I will travel directly to the Hoenn region to completely eradicate the corrupt forces that violently destroyed your home and I will finally deliver absolute justice in your name, thank you," Enzo promised with lethal precision.

The entire stadium immediately erupted into a deafening wave of highly emotional applause as tens of thousands of people began chanting his name in absolute unison.

Enzo offered the roaring crowd a deep and respectful bow of profound gratitude to acknowledge their overwhelming support before gently handing the microphone back to the Cerulean Gym Leader. Daisy stepped forward with a massive smile radiating pure joy to officially conclude the spectacular event.

She raised the microphone one last time, her voice still bright with excitement even after everything.

"Cerulean, give it up one more time for our Winner!"

The stadium answered with one final thunderous roar.

Daisy laughed, then smiled warmly as she looked across the crowd.

"Thank you all for being part of this unforgettable night. Travel safe, and never forget what you witnessed here today—because this was more than a tournament. This was history."
