Dax's eyes were calm and observing.
"…They are vagabonds. Bastards who deserve nothing good." The prince's tone was unshakable, carrying always the air of royalty behind his words. There was no lie in it. "But that doesn't mean I will massacre many for the sake of one. The fact that you are able to kill an angel is enough. You are not the pinnacle."
"The prince is truly righteous." Dax's lips curled faintly. "Though you might be right — I didn't touch a soul in the City of Stone."
A little strange, glowing cocoon appeared in Dax's palm. He fiddled with it, playing with its shell, turning it slowly between his fingers as though it were nothing more than a child's toy.
"I only wish for my clan to be safe."
