Chapter 89 - Chapter 89

Which places were truly strategic, which held hidden potential, and which could grow into centers of power in the future. Small details such as accessibility, the surrounding environment, and even the movement of people there would all become part of my considerations.

At the same time, I also assigned a task to Mei Mei. I asked her to purchase several houses in the various cities we visited, choosing locations that were not too conspicuous yet still held high strategic value. Places that wouldn't attract attention, but would be important enough when the need arose.

Staying in hotels every time we moved from place to place would be troublesome and a waste of time. On top of that, such places were too exposed, too easy to track, and did not provide full control over the surrounding environment.

Even though I could easily bring them all back to the house in Akiruno City whenever I wanted without much difficulty, that was not a wise choice.

In my opinion, it was inefficient—too dependent on a single point and risky if something unexpected were to happen. That kind of dependency would only become a weakness in the future.

I preferred to have several houses within the Chubu region. Aside from being more practical for travel, owning property was also far more beneficial in the long term. Each house was not just a temporary residence, but also an asset that could be utilized for various purposes.

Because of that, I instructed Mei Mei to start purchasing several houses across different cities in Gifu Prefecture. Each acquisition had to be done carefully, quietly, and without drawing unnecessary attention.

There must be no predictable patterns, no suspicious traces that could be used to track our existence as individuals who essentially had no official identities—let alone any connection to the Jujutsu world.

That way, every time we moved to another city within the prefecture, we would no longer have to bother searching for accommodations or adjusting from scratch. We could simply return to one of the houses we already owned, as if it were just a normal part of our lives, with nothing unusual about it.

Furthermore, those houses could also serve as strategic points. Footholds for an expansion of power that I would slowly build from the shadows. Each location could function as a gathering place, a storage site, or even a coordination center without drawing attention.

Whether they would be used as bases for an organization I would build in the future, or merely as connecting points between regions, each would have its own role. Nothing would truly go to waste if used properly.

In the end, all of this would become part of a hidden network. A network that would grow slowly, almost invisible, yet steadily strengthening over time.

And when that moment came—when everything was truly ready, when there was no longer any room for failure—that network would be used to overthrow the rule of the higher-ups of the Jujutsu World without giving them any chance to resist.

...

It was currently morning in a park still covered in fresh air. I stood still, gazing at a woman in the distance, without truly realizing since when I had been observing her.

Hmm… have I seen that woman before? The feeling surfaced faintly yet continued to bother me, like a fragment of memory I could almost grasp, but that always slipped away whenever I tried to recall her face more clearly.

There was something so familiar, yet foreign at the same time. Where had I seen her before? The question kept circling endlessly in my mind, making me frown slightly without realizing it.

In the distance, the woman sat quietly on a long iron bench that looked cold and hard. The surface of the bench faintly reflected the morning light, adding to the sense of loneliness surrounding her figure.

In contrast, the park around her was filled with colorful flowers—striking reds, warm yellows, and soft purples—swaying gently in the morning breeze, as if creating a lively atmosphere, yet unable to dispel the silence that enveloped the woman.

The woman sat facing the fountain located right at the center of the park. The water shot upward in a steady rhythm before falling back down softly, creating a consistent and calming trickling sound.

That sound usually brought a sense of peace, but for some reason, at this moment, it instead felt like a quiet backdrop that emphasized the woman's presence—calm, yet separated from her surroundings.

The woman had pale pink hair that fell neatly to her shoulders. The strands looked soft, slightly shimmering under the morning sunlight, as if reflecting a gentle color that almost didn't seem real.

A few strands of her hair moved slowly with the breeze, yet she showed no reaction at all, remaining still like a statue.

Her eyes were a grayish blue, an unusual color that gave off a cold impression. Her gaze appeared sharp and deep, as if it could pierce through anything she looked at—perhaps even through a person's thoughts. Even so, her line of sight was empty, as though she was looking at something far away, or perhaps at nothing at all.

Her facial expression was far from friendly. The lines of her face looked stiff, and her lips showed not even the slightest hint of a smile.

At times, she furrowed her brows—not like someone momentarily annoyed, but like someone who had long been accustomed to pressure—calm, resilient, yet tightly closed off, as if holding something she had no intention of sharing with anyone.

"What is it?" Mei Mei asked in a calm voice while glancing in the direction I had been watching all this time. Her tone was flat, yet attentive.

"Hm?" Shizuka and Rika also turned to look in the same direction, following my gaze. Curiosity began to show clearly on their faces, especially when they realized that I kept staring without looking away.

"I feel like I've seen that woman before…" I said seriously, still fixated on her figure. That sense of familiarity grew stronger, like something I was just about to remember, yet still blurred at the edge of my awareness.

In my mind, I tried to recall—anime? Yes, maybe from there. The woman felt like a character I had seen in my previous life. The way she sat, her expression, even the cold aura surrounding her… everything felt too distinctive to be just a coincidence.

Strangely, however, I couldn't remember her name, her story, or her role. My memory seemed to cut off at the most important part.

After all, there were too many anime I had watched, and they all blended together. Because of that, I couldn't clearly remember who she was, even though the feeling kept bothering me.

"Really? Not because you like quiet and cold-looking beautiful women like her?" Shizuka asked, frowning slightly. There was a hint of sarcasm in her tone, almost sounding like teasing.

"Of course not," I denied quickly, almost on reflex. Even though I couldn't deny that the woman was indeed beautiful in a unique way, that was clearly not the main reason I kept watching her.

"Then, do you want me to find out her name?" Mei Mei spoke again in a flat yet certain tone, as if it were something easy for her to do.
