Chapter 13 - Chapter XIII

"I'm sorry! Please don't report me! I'll give you anything! Please! I just like to play around with new trainers that's all!" we finally catch up to him right before arriving at the large entrance to Pewter City. He was trying his absolute best to push past the gathered crowd at the gates anyhow.

"I'm not letting you get away for the second time idiot." Misty was the one who quickly caught him at the exit of the Viridian forest by pure athleticism.

"Hey! I even gave you the money now didn't I? Am I really in the wrong here?" he pleads again, looking at me in the eye for some sympathy. Too bad I'm the last person on this Earth who'll pity him.

"Yeah you are, the money we earned was from Red legally defeating you as a pokemon trainer. And I still have proof of your malpractice." Even without Misty's logical reasoning does this guy really think the police are gonna take his side over a gym leader's?

"Just surrender bro." I bring out Percy the spearow just in case he tries to run away again. Misty ties his hands together with some rope she brought along with her. Her backpack wasn't even a bit dirty from the rough journey we went through.

Speaking of it, most of my gear is in pristine condition even though a beedrill clearly stabbed my backpack once. Man, paying those exorbitant prices for these at Viridian City's pokemart were worth it after all.

"RELEASE ME OR I-" Misty then proceeds to tape his mouth shut. This guy was not worth this much trouble. Then I pat my pockets which were filled with pokedollars, maybe it was.

"He's a fraudster no need to worry." I tell the nearby crowd to get their attention off us as soon as possible. I hate being looked at, not in particular but the moment when everyone's focus is on me, it gets little nerve-wracking.

There was a decently sized line to the entrance of the Pewter city so it took a while for us to hand his ass over to the officer Jenny of Pewter city. The police station wasn't far off from here. I could see it right there further up from these gates.

Now, that I look at this officer Jenny properly (not that I wasn't ogling her before) she wore a hat with a different crest compared to the Jenny of Viridian City.

That must imply that every city's Jenny wore a different crest on their hats. Cool detail. Not that I'm going to memorize the several crests there would be. Maybe some in particular just to get closer to the officers. I'm gonna be needing their help in bringing down Team Rocket anyways.

After describing what happened in the forest to officer Jenny and officially filing a complaint along with some needless protocols I didn't need to hear at all. Also why do I need to fill out a form? Ugh. Afterwards officer Jenny comes up to me with the guy in cuffs to confirm the details.

"Name: Eichi, Age: 21, Blood group: B+ , arrested for:

1. Refusal to honor battle wager

2. Evading League enforcement

3. Public endangerment and you do not even have your trainer ID. So a new charge will be added,

4. Unregistered Pokémon training, you're in some serious trouble Mister." Officer Jenny says nonchalantly.

"CURSE YOU GUYS! I HATE YOUUU!" I grimace, not that these words weren't music to my ears but that they were too loud up close.

"That'll be all. Thank you for your report fellow citizen. Remember to stop by at the Pokemon Center to get your pokemon healed. I'll be off." officer Jenny walks over to her bike to ride off with the now current criminal seated on a small attached seat in tow.

"Wait up Officer!" I can get Bob the squirtle treated right away if she rushes him to the Pokemon center! I trust that Officer Jenny has enough compassion to do this. I can't bear to see Bob hurting anymore.

"What's the issue?" She becomes worried by my sudden change in tone.

I explain to her what happened to Bob in the Viridian forest and that It'll take a while for us to get to the Pokemon Center in the city by foot. I gloomily take out a pokeball out of my belt.

I look inside the pokeball Bob is in. Observing him to be calmly snoozing with a noticeable crack in his shell. I feel a pang of guilt. Misty puts her hand on my shoulder and squeezes it to comfort me. I nod back to tell her I'm fine. I give the pokeball to Officer Jenny and bid goodbye to Bob temporarily.

"Rest assured. I'll have your squirtle treated right away dear." she affirms me after taking the pokeball I extended toward her.

"Thank you for your service Officer." I smile at her. She quickly turns her bike in the direction towards the center of the City and takes off. Leaving dust in its wake.

"He'll be fine Red. I know it."

"Yeah, hopefully." I look down. For the first time since I've come to this world, I start to feel mentally exhausted and overwhelmed. Suddenly I remember what my dad used to say to me, that he'll always be with me forever to comfort me. In a sense this memory did that job. Thanks a lot ,Pops.

Technically this city doesn't have an entry so the Viridian Forest's exit doubled as an entry to Pewter city. Right after we checked in I'm met with a beautiful scenery of a garden ,next to it are several neatly trimmed bushes along a road which goes all the way inside the city .

"Man is this view beautiful." I exclaim out loud. Under the sunlight all the flowers in the garden look more vibrant and colourful than I remember flowers being. Almost like someone increased their saturation digitally. No wonder Bug pokemon love to eat them. They do look colorful and tasty.

"This? This is nothing compared to Cerulean City. I'm afraid you inhaled some of the stun spores Red. Because a part of your brain may not be functioning." Misty smirks in a brash cheeky manner.

"Oh I'll be the judge of that Misty. I don't think that any place in your city can top the beauty of this huge garden right here." I point towards the massive garden, enclosed in a white fence all around except for it's front where it has a huge sign saying the following.

'Welcome to Pewter City- The stone gray city.'

"Hmm, the garden does look pretty, still not as beautiful as route 25 in my City. Once you visit the lake of love Red. Trust me. It'll be the best sight you see in the whole of Kanto."

"Well, once I go there I'll be sure to visit it with you." She told me a lot about her City already, but the more I hear about it, the more I want to explore each and every corner of Kanto. Undercover all the secrets and treasures it has to offer.

Unlike my previous life filled with the same mundane tasks every day. Here, I'm free to go anywhere. It's my very own adventure. And I wanna savor every bit of it.

"What do you mean by that?! You idiot! Only lovers gather there to enjoy themselves!" Misty's cheeks flushed suddenly. She looks away, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear as if the ground had become very interesting.

"I-" I bite my lip. I don't get to continue my sentence as she zips away, not even glancing back at me.

"A-Anyways I'm off to some business now! I'll meet you at the Pokemon center in the evening!" HUH, alright. Even though you were the one who made it awkward. Teenage brains sure do work overdrive in this department.

I can take my sweet time to roam this City now that I've arrived well before the evening. So I can get to enjoy by myself. I'm not alone though. I look towards Percy.

"You wanna enjoy the view as well?"

"SKREE!" He does. Unlike before when I had to guess what my pokemon were saying I sorta understand what they tell me now right away.

"Alright. Let's go." I step into the City that'll mark an official standpoint in my career as a Pokemon trainer.

"I would like to roam and enjoy the view of the garden Sir." I ask permission from an old uncle who was spraying something on the plants everywhere. He looks to be the gardener or caretaker of this place here.

"Huh? Oh sure. I don't get visitors often you see. It's lonely tending to flowers all day. I'm spraying repel everywhere to keep the wild pokemon out. Don't want those pesky bugs ruining my garden." He looks at me excited. Do you know the feeling of when you come across somebody who shares the same passion as you? I was getting that feeling from him.

"That's cool." I smile back. Now I'm accompanying an old lonely man just after getting ditched by a pretty girl. Just my life.

"What about you guys down there?" I ask my companions, still within their pokeballs. And I even get to take a look at the new additions to my team.

I notice everyone looking at the nearby flowers and plants in wonder. The new bug pokemon I caught were itching to go out. Only just for the reasons you're thinking. Now that I have plenty time so I can get to naming and scanning them with my pokedex.

I spend a couple of minutes visiting the garden. Looking at some of the various flowers for the first time ever. I love gardening, I had a plant that I took care of everyday. It was my late grandma's keepsake. Unfortunately all life comes to an end. I'm glad I learnt it though.

"Alright it was a pleasure coming here." I say, turning to the old guy looking at me expectantly.

"I'm happy you liked my plants. It's been a while since anyone visited me. My son doesn't even have the time to greet his old dad here."

"Ah. I'll be sure to recommend this place to my friends. They'll love it."

"I appreciate you coming by. You made my day. HAHA!"

I had to exit the garden quickly otherwise the newly caught caterpie was getting too impatient in its ball. I wouldn't want the old guy's garden accidently ruined by bug pokemon eating all of it.

"You guys.." I look down to see the female caterpie disappointed that it couldn't get to eat anything.

"Don't be rude. I'm hungry as well. Let's have lunch together." It's almost 2pm now.

I take them to a burger place in an open area. After receiving my order I go over to an isolated bench and bring out all my pokemon. I do a count and I have a total of nine pokemon out now.

Way too many for any trainer to command. But I won't be training them now anyways. Most of the new guys will be added to my box back in Pallet Town. So this is the least I could do to them for a bonding experience. Only if they stopped trying killing each other on spot.

"Hey hold on! Everyone's on the same team here!"

Icarus and Tyson the rattata immediately started to beef with the beedrill. Not that I didn't see it coming. Now I have to play the role of a team leader now.

"Icarus, I forgave Beedrill the moment I captured him. He's with us now. Understand?"

"PIJOHH!" He protests, bringing up what happened to Bob.

"Bob will be alright. And I won't let it happen again." I can only make a hollow promise to my team. What else could I do? They need to trust me if we're gonna be a team.

"Pij-ohh!" He agrees if only he gets to eat the other bug pokemon I brought out.

"No to that too, my boy. You can hunt freely or if you want you can have my burger." I point towards my order. Only for Icarus to ignore it all together. I turn my focus else where.

"Welcome to the squad caterpie! Your name will be Mary!" I get to instantaneously giving names and introducing the new pokemon to the team. Is this gonna be the norm? No, but I have the time to do this so I'm doing it.

"No you don't eat her Icarus. She's the first female of the team by the way."

Icarus doesn't understand what female means. He only judges living beings based on if they're food or not.

"Pijohh?" He gives me a confused look, only to fly over to somewhere else. To hunt probably.

"SKREE!" Percy the spearow follows him. I wish I could fly.

"Come back quick!" I look toward the other new pokemon

"And you metapod, will be Sicko! Since you refused to get captured for five consecutive pokeball throws."

"metapod." Is this guy a robot? I don't care for the abilities they have since I don't plan on using them anyways.

"And weedle your name is Kakarot! How's that you gentle natured guy?"

"Weedle~" he likes it. I can afford losing my hand to pet his cute face.

"Kakuna I'll name you Kaku." I couldn't think of a better name now. Now for the only guy left.

"BZZZZ!"

"I don't care about the past Beedrill. Let's get stronger together. I need you to become the Champion. Your name is Weewee." I tell him. He's an adamant natured beedrill with the ability swarm, that ups the power of his bug type moves when he's hurt.

"bzzzz" I hope he can't tell that it's a penis joke. Well, I gotta get back my lick at it somehow.

"Eat up everyone. Just finish all of it so it doesn't expire." I bring out all the food out of my backpack. I get to restock food from this City. Plus I have plenty cash now. My pokemon need to be treated the best if they're to become the best ya know?

The protein pellets for Tyson the rattata and Chungus the pikachu. And I ordered multiple sides of lettuce for the bugs. Looking at their expressions while they're eating I think it's fortunate that they like it.

"Pika!" Chungus asks me about the whereabouts of Misty.

"We'll meet her soon enough Chungus. Do you miss her?"

"PIkapi!" He does.

Tyson didn't say much and only called me when he finished hogging all the pellets.

"Rattata!" he asked about Bob.

"He's fine. I'm sure. We're going towards him right away." I look toward the only team member not eating.

"Hey weewee why aren't you eating?"

"BZZZ" he says he doesn't eat this shit. Only tree sap or flower nectar.

"Sure I'll find some for you next time. I don't wanna force you but I recommend eating these pellets." Misty informed me that one of these pellets had enough nutrients for an average human to last days. But pokemon need exponentially more energy than humans for their daily activities.

"BZZZZ" Weewee tries some new food for the very first time since he spent his whole life in the Viridian forest.

"BZZZ!" He likes it. Thank Arceus that there's a one for all pellet for everyone here.

A while later Icarus and Percy return from their hunt. I pack up my backpack with all the pokeballs that I couldn't carry anymore. My belt is only designed to carry six pokeballs at the maximum. The rest I can conveniently store in my trusty backpack.

'Time to go to the Poke center.' I bring out my town map, to start heading toward my destination. I estimate it'll be evening when I get there. Need to hurry or Misty will worry. Wish I had a bike...

While traveling I notice that Pewter City is far larger than Viridian City. It's roads are larger. Buildings are wider. Even the alleys in between are large enough to house a couple of meowths. I take a turn toward a dark alley that'll shorten the path to the Pokecenter when I'm stopped by two buff dudes in Team Rocket Unforms.

"Hey Kid, do you have any pokemon on you? Mind lending us some?" The guy on the right threatens me, cracking his fists. While the other guy tries his best to intimidate me by smiling in a sinister way. Too bad for them I find them to be clowns bullying a kid and not the evil strong grunts they think they are.

"Lemme show you guys my newest capture." I bring out a pokeball, these guys are severely underestimating me.

"GO WEEWEE!" I'm waiting for the day an announcer will have to say my beedrill's name in a dead serious manner.

"THE WHAT?" The grunts look flabbergasted.
