She closed her eyes and placed her hands just inches above the wound. She didn't touch the blackened skin, but she could feel the heat radiating from the infection.
"What are you doing?" the guard asked, glancing back in the rearview mirror, his hand moving toward his weapon.
"Keep driving!" Sofia snapped, her blue eyes flashing with a sudden, silvery light. "And don't stop for anything."
She took a deep breath, focusing all her energy on the palms of her hands.
"This is going to hurt," she whispered to him. Then she pressed her palms flat against his back, right over the blackened veins.
A sharp, electrical jolt shot through her arms, and she gasped as the silver light of the White Wolf surged from her chest.
