Chapter 420: Their Children's Wedding
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Massive fireworks blossomed and drifted across the sky.
Every so often, colossal mythical creatures—soaring dragons, glowing phoenixes, and other grand beasts—flew across the horizon, creating a breathtaking, poetic canvas high above. Beside these majestic creatures, swarms of diverse insects glided in synchronized flight, painting an awe-inspiring, ancient panorama.
"What's going on? Why are there so many summoned beasts?!"
As Naruto, Hinata, and the rest of the Konoha 11 stepped into the wedding plaza, they were already marveling at the sheer complexity and variety of the event—only to be completely stunned by the scene playing out overhead.
Those gigantic beasts in the sky were massive entities on par with Gamatatsu.
Noticing Naruto and the others, Gamatatsu called out, "Those are summoned beasts belonging to various clans! I heard Captain Tonbo spent a fortune hiring a huge fleet of Chunin and Jonin specifically to summon these giant beasts and host a grand, spectacular wedding!"
"Those insects... they're truly wonderful," Shino murmured upon seeing the swarms, a rare smile gracing his face. He hadn't expected to actually see such a display.
Inuzuka Kiba caught sight of the overhead spectacle as well; there were even giant hounds from the Inuzuka clan using ninjutsu to expand their size, riding high-tech flying platforms through the clouds.
Woof! Woof!
Seeing this, Akamaru let out an eager bark. Why wasn't he up there too?!
Kiba patted his head. "Well, maybe it's because you're still too young and a bit unruly."
Woof! Woof!
"You're saying you're super obedient? Sure, you're obedient, but there has to be a good reason you were left out," Kiba reasoned.
Woof! Woof!
Akamaru was left utterly stumped. Still, he couldn't exactly go demand an explanation from Captain Tonbo—after all, Tonbo was his instructor too. Back in the day, Akamaru had trained right alongside Kiba under Tonbo's guidance.
Shikadai looked up at the two prominent figures at the center of the formation. "Dad, what kind of summoned beasts are those two? They look so fierce and imposing!"
"That's a dragon—a legendary creature with antlers like a deer, a head like a camel, eyes like a rabbit, a neck like a snake, a belly like a clam, scales like a fish, talons like an eagle, paws like a tiger, and ears like an ox! According to my dad's intel, that's the Orphanage Director's summon. It's one of the highest achievements of the Scientific Technology Development Bureau—a synthetic summoned beast. It's so cool! I really wish I could take a ride on it," a blonde boy holding Ino's hand said as he stepped forward.
Shikadai greeted him, "Hey there, I'm Shikadai. What about the other one?"
"That's a phoenix! It's my dad's summoned beast. Its true form is a hawk, but he used a Transformation Technique to disguise it so it could co-star alongside the dragon. Cool, right?"
Sakura walked over, leading a young girl. The little girl's delicate face bore a clear resemblance to Sasuke's. As she spoke, her tone overflowed with proud excitement.
"So they really are all genuine summoned beasts! I thought it was just a massive Genjutsu!" Shikadai gasped in awe.
Shikamaru explained, "A wedding is a joyful, sacred occasion. Aside from the service staff, everything present represents living, breathing life. Only in this way does it carry a truly beautiful, harmonious meaning. Otherwise, given Captain Tonbo's sheer capability, he could have made the spectacle infinitely more flashy using synthetic illusions."
"I see! In the future, I want my wedding to be just as grand!" Sarada exclaimed, her eyes sparkling like stars.
Hearing her daughter's dream, Sakura's face instantly paled. How could that even be possible?! Their family didn't have anywhere near the mountain of wealth required to compete with Teacher Tonbo.
Teacher Tonbo's family operated a vast network of commercial enterprises—all of which had expanded into massive multinational conglomerates. Even at the height of its prestige, the historic Uchiha clan couldn't compare to that scale of wealth.
"Sarada, don't go thinking like that! There's no need for us to make things so lavish, okay? Keeping things simple is wonderful—your father and I had a very simple wedding," Sakura coaxed softly. Deep inside her mind, her long-dormant Inner Sakura suddenly burst out, throwing wild punches in sheer inner frustration: I want a wedding like this too!
Sarada nodded dutifully, resolving to emulate her father. "But at such an important time, why hasn't Papa come back?" In Sarada's eyes, her father should have returned to attend a wedding of this magnitude.
"Haha, well... because it's just a wedding, and it's Teacher Tonbo's kids getting married. In the adult world, other people's weddings aren't always a top priority," Sakura offered gently.
"Is that so..." Sarada replied, half-understanding.
"Where's Dad?" Inojin looked around the crowd, failing to spot his father's figure anywhere.
Ino smiled softly. "He went to help out with the performance! You'll see him very soon, and he's going to look amazingly cool."
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Just as the crowd was discussing the surrounding giant beasts, the rhythmic thunder of ceremonial drums and uplifting music echoed down from the heavens. The music resonated so profoundly it made everyone feel as though they were stepping onto auspicious clouds, floating gracefully through the sky.
Following the sound, everyone looked up.
The giant beasts and insect swarms in the sky parted into neat formations, creating a magnificent aerial pathway leading straight down to the ground, as if preparing to welcome an important arrival.
"That's... the veteran Ino-Shika-Cho!"
"It's Grandpa! Grandpa looks so cool!"
A chubby little girl with dark skin cheered continuously, clutching Choji's small hand as she looked toward the sky.
High above, clouds tumbled and parted down the middle, revealing a colossal gateway crafted from glowing white mist. Standing on either side of the mist gate were two towering figures—Akimichi Choza alongside another member of the Akimichi clan, both in their Multi-Size Super Expansion forms.
Sai was positioned beside them, using his Ink Illustrations to generate flying ink clouds that held the entire setup aloft.
From the horizon, a vibrant red carpet descended from the sky, threading straight through the misty gateway and laying down seamlessly across the central stage in the plaza, landing right between the two giant toads.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
While the crowd watched in absolute awe, the two pairs of newlyweds appeared.
Looking like celestial beings descending from the heavens, each bride and groom held their partner's arm, floating smoothly down onto the red carpet and walking slowly forward from the distance.
Holy crap, the wedding Dad put together is way too mind-blowing! Isn't this a bit too high-profile?!
Tianyu held Hinoko's hand, a beaming smile on his face, though his mind was screaming in silent commentary. This scene was even grander and more imposing than Brother Naruto's wedding! No wonder his dad had been so brimming with confidence, guaranteeing they would be thoroughly amazed.
He had hired so many high-level personnel—aside from the serving staff, not a single element was faked using creation techniques; everything was brought to life through real people and summoned entities.
Beside him, Hino's face was bathed in radiant happiness. After dating for so long, they were finally tying the knot. She felt truly blessed. As expected of the man she had chosen back in their academy days!
On the other side stood the second pair of newlyweds: Maki and Wataru. They too were completely overwhelmed with awe. This entrance was even more breathtaking than watching Pain fly over the village in the movie theaters—far outshining even the cinematic battle between Uchiha Madara and the Six Kage.
"Wataru, we're finally married! When we have our own baby, let's prepare a wedding this big for them too, okay?" Maki had already drifted into a romantic daydream, imagining her future children having a celebration just as grand.
"A wedding of this scale... I'm afraid only Senior Tonbo has the resources to pull it off. If it were up to us, we'd probably have to rely heavily on creation techniques," Wataru replied with a wry smile. Real people and actual ninjutsu summons were entirely different from creation techniques; Wataru knew his own limits. Pulling this off with their own strength would be nearly impossible. Besides, even Tobitake Tonbo likely wouldn't host a wedding of this caliber for every single descendant—the chances were slim.
Stepping along the red carpet, the newlyweds passed through the misty gateway and slowly touched down at the very center of the wedding plaza, bathed in the overflowing envy and admiration of the entire crowd.
