Chapter 383: Mei Terumi's Distress
The Moon Incident was quickly quelled by Konoha. Life returned to its normal rhythm. However, a major event was quietly approaching: the hero of the Shinobi world, Naruto, was getting married.
"Get ready, get ready! Oh, I'm so happy, they're finally getting married."
Tenten hugged Neji's arm, her face radiating bliss. Across from them, Konohamaru held a video camera, looking utterly exasperated.
Did they have to be this clingy? He was just trying to record a congratulatory message, yet he had to endure the sour stench of love from these two.
Neji suddenly chimed in: "I'm ready too."
Tenten's face turned bright red at his words. "Oh, stop it! You're being so sudden and direct."
"..."
Konohamaru felt like burying one in the South Pole and the other in the North Pole.
"Alright, wishing Naruto and Hinata a happy marriage and a lifetime of happiness." Once the recording was done, Konohamaru bolted immediately. He really couldn't stand being around such sappy couples anymore.
The wedding was set to be a grand affair. Kakashi, in order to ensure Konoha remained guarded while everyone wanted to celebrate, had issued a special notice: ninja were to prepare meaningful gifts. Whoever presented the most heartfelt gift would be granted permission to attend the wedding.
"Hehehe, Naruto is going to be so happy when he sees this gift. Wahahaha!"
In the Tobitake household, Tonbo stared at a photo album in his hands, laughing sinisterly. He could already imagine the look of shock on Naruto's face—it would be a total surprise. In his left hand, he held another recording—a slideshow.
"Dad, Naruto is getting married and you're just giving him some photos? That lacks sincerity," Tianyu said from the side, watching his father's unsettling smile. He really couldn't understand it. Their family was so wealthy, yet his dad was giving something so cheap.
"What do you know? A guy who needs a girl to ask him out doesn't understand romance," Tonbo said dismissively.
Lately, Tianyu had finally landed a girlfriend—Hinoko. She was a good girl, but his son was so clumsy that the girl had to take the initiative. It was a disgrace to the Tobitake name.
"What is it then? All this hype... let me see." Tianyu didn't argue and snatched the album. As he flipped through it, his brow furrowed, then he looked at his father in amazement.
"Holy crap, Dad! How did you manage to take photos of Big Brother Naruto since he was a baby? I bet you don't even have this many photos of me and Maki."
The contents of the album were truly stunning. The first photo showed a one or two-year-old Naruto reaching out his hands for a hug. Following that were photos of Naruto fishing, crying, and slowly growing up. Looking through the album was like seeing Naruto's entire life. Toward the end, there were even images of Naruto fighting the Ten-Tails, Madara Uchiha, and Kaguya Otsutsuki. Even further back were scenes of Naruto sitting at a desk, looking miserable while trying to study.
To be continued...
Did Dad have a premonition since Naruto was a kid that he'd become the hero of the world, so he took all these specifically?
"Surprising, isn't it? That's why I say, even though your ninjutsu is fine, you haven't inherited my true legacy. Ninjutsu can bring many fun things to our lives. For example, I can use my memory, Shadow Clones, Transformation Jutsu, and various elemental releases to recreate past environments and re-enact scenes to photograph them."
Tonbo looked at his son like he was a hopeless case. He was most proud of his ability to apply ninjutsu to daily life, yet his son hadn't inherited a lick of it. The boy even needed a girl to make the first move. He was truly exasperated.
Tianyu was stunned. "You can use it like that?" And your acting must be incredible; Naruto looks like he actually grew up exactly like this.
"Of course. Come on, let's go record a wedding blessing video too. I need to go catch Keigo first." Recently, Keigo had become obsessed with scientific research and spent all his time in the lab.
"Congratulations on your marriage."
"I offer blessings on behalf of the entire orphanage."
Orochimaru and Kabuto Yakushi were also seriously recording their blessings. Konohamaru finished the recording with a trembling hand and ran. Those two were just too terrifying.
"How uncute. Are we really that scary?" Orochimaru asked Kabuto.
Kabuto replied: "Not at all. We are very gentle."
In the skies above Konoha, several airships suddenly appeared. They landed at the Konoha airport. Under the welcome of Konoha ninja, the other four Kage descended, led by their guards. They were all carrying gifts—clearly, they were well-prepared.
"Konoha's development is so fast!" Raikage Ay remarked, looking at the scenery. Buildings stretched as far as the eye could see, including many skyscrapers. It was extremely modern, rivaling the Land of Lightning.
Onoki, flying in the sky, took a look. "Indeed. It seems we are falling behind Konoha." At least in terms of economic development, the gap was wide.
"I wonder if I can find a partner here... Sigh. Chojuro still isn't ready to succeed as Mizukage. It's so frustrating!" Mei Terumi lamented her situation.
"Lord Mizukage, I'm right here," Chojuro said sheepishly. He felt terrible for delaying the Mizukage's marriage prospects.
"Where's that Kazekage kid?" they suddenly noticed Gaara hadn't emerged from the airships.
"He went to act as the guardian for Temari. Said he wanted Shikamaru to give her a proper explanation. He's probably a guest at the Nara household right now," Kankuro said, walking out with a shrug. His sister was also about to get married.
Hearing this, Mei Terumi felt her world crumbling.
"It's true. With Naruto's wedding approaching, many young people in the village have started preparing for marriage. Over the next six months, at least a dozen couples are expected to wed!" the Konoha reception ninja remarked, unable to hide his happiness.
"A dozen couples?" Mei's face darkened further. Why wasn't she one of them? It was all Chojuro's fault.
Chojuro, standing nearby, felt a powerful, oppressive aura. He sensed something bad was about to happen.
The Konoha ninja continued: "Yeah! With peace here, everyone is enjoying a quiet life and finally has the time to find a partner. It's really wonderful!"
Boom!
A suppressed aura erupted from Mei Terumi. This made the Konoha reception ninja realize something was wrong.
"Lord Mizukage, please don't do anything reckless!" the Raikage said quickly. It was Naruto's wedding season, after all.
"Lord Raikage, you're also a 'single dog.' Aren't you worried about your own marriage date?" Mei retracted her aura and asked. According to her intel, the old Raikage didn't have a partner either.
The term single dog had become popular in the Shinobi world after paparazzi overheard Tonbo frequently teasing Kakashi and the others with it.
