Theoretically, Spectral Boars could consume themselves, and make the Tangible Nature version of themselves to consume another body of theirs.
However, as Pranic Beasts, they only had one body, so this wasn't possible.
And even if another Wean Clansman were to appear within the Spectral Boar family, able to progress through the Life Stage and could use their extra bodies for the same purpose, there was time and cost of growth involved.
It was possible for them, yes, but would take at least a century or two for the entire process to conclude, during which they had to basically remain powerless, which wasn't realistic.
However, for Torq, he had his Pets to rely on. This was already a cheat, but when in the hands of a Spectral Boar, the cheat became broken.
Urgh!
