"Are you okay? Val? Val... Are you okay?" Lucy shook Valerie softly as she sat above her, her hands quickly and desperately darting all over Valerie's body searching for injuries. Had it not been for the illusion hiding her appearance, it would have been easier to spot the multiple scrapes across her face from where glass fragments had cut her.
But not even the illusion could hide the fact that her left arm was bent half way down the forearm, a section that was definitely not meant to bend at all.
Valerie slowly stirred, her head ringing slightly which the shrill screams and panicked shouts of the jewellery store workers was absolutely not helping with. She eventually focused her eyes on the worried face of Lucy, and moved to wave her off before hissing in pain.
Using the other arm, she tapped Lucy's arm and gave her a half-hearted smile.
"Yeah, I'm good. If you hadn't grabbed me, I would have been a hell of a lot worse."
