"What's going on? It didn't happen this fast with me. Why are they changing so soon?" Valerie questioned, whipping her head across the different members of her party as they writhed and squirmed on the floor, in much more pain than she had experienced.
"It wasn't just a mana potion. It was an awakening potion, meant to boost them to this level and immediately activate their transformation. We used it all the time." Ren answered with cold indifference to the agonising screams around him.
"I couldn't risk them transforming in the middle of battle, and we don't have the luxury to sit around and wait for everyone to naturally change." Ren glared at her, as if he was daring her to argue with him, but Valerie didn't say a word.
She looked into his eyes, feeling just a hint of all the pain and horrors they had seen, and simply kept her lips pressed together as her friends were forcibly changed.
