Navarro said it, pump and clear without hesitation. He averted his gaze to the empty horizon, shrugging his shoulders upward while his knees dipped down briefly, almost folding under the sheer weight of the lethal silence his words had cast into the air and into Miguel's countenance.
Navarro didn't speak another word. He simply kept looking at Miguel with a face that silently screamed the truth: That is the plain reality, Miguel. Don't jump me.
Miguel, on the other hand, froze with a cold, jagged rage. Those words had taken him by surprise, so off-guard and fast, like a strong, unrelenting tidal wave that shattered his remaining mood.
It hit him harder than a physical slap would, causing his grip on the metal railings tightened until the iron almost vibrated under the tremendous pressure of his knuckles.
